I visited this Dairy Queen about a year ago and posted my review on my instagram @thedqcritic Here is that review. Today I am reviewing the Dairy Queen in Columbus, Indiana on National Rd. Upon entrance, the dinning room was generally clean but the table we sat down at was very spotty. The cashier was efficient but impersonal. I ordered a four piece chicken strip basket with gravy and a drink, my friend ordered pretzel sticks. The food came out in a timely manner. The fries were alright, the chicken was clearly not fresh, the toast was very dry with no butter and was only tolerable when soaked in the lukewarm gravy. The pretzels were decent and the cheese did nothing for the flavor. The Coke was not great, it seemed to be a mixture of poor syrup and bad ice. Shortly after, we purchased two blizzards, one chocolate xtreme and my personal favorite mix of cookie dough, Oreo, and graham base. The blizzards were not flipped when handed to us and did not have spoons in them. My blizzard was runny and clearly did not have enough graham base. My friends chocolate xtreme came out almost white and in some bites had a hint of peanut (which is not an ingredient of the chocolate xtreme blizzard). Before I left I refilled my drink and looked at their front line ice cream area and was disappointed in the mess I saw from their dirty blizzard machine to their topping wells being left out on the front counter where any costumer could easily taint them (i.e. by sneezing or coughing). Overall this is a subpar Dairy Queen and I do not plan on returning. I give a generous 2 red spoons out of 5.

Texas toast? How about Mo!! Just dry, bland, plain bread! Yuck! no butter, no "toasting". Lazy! --- and obviously it was cold also!

More than once, we've tried to support them after a ballgame but they are hardly ever open. Culver's was yummy.

Went last night toward closing time and the ice cream was poorly made and runny. Not good service.

She took the time to let us know about the history, the quality of the local-sourced food, her personal recommendations for beer and food. She was exactly what we love about trying a new brewery and sitting at the bar. She let us try a few samples and we found some pretty good brews. These are lighter than our personal preference in craft brews, but they were delicious. The food was amazing. My husband had the burger and I had the Caesar salad. Very good!!!! The overall vibe of the brewery combines elements of history with the pride of keeping things fresh and modern. It's a really nice balance. The brewery is situated right on the river and once the boardwalk and construction is done, it's going to be beautiful!!!! It's still beautiful and the construction didn't affect us at all, but it's an exciting project that Sally told us about. Highly recommend stopping here for some food and drinks. We loved it and heard the brunch is the best around.

The building sits on the banks of Driftwood River (now called East Fork White River) and offers spectacular views of the famous Robert N. Stewart Bridge in Columbus, Indiana. Upland Brewing Company is a local brewery that started in Bloomington, Indiana in 1998. Now, they have a number of popular restaurants/pubs across Indiana. The building, built in 1871, served as the Pump House supplying water to the city of Columbus, Indiana. The Pump House faced financial, water and quality challenges over the years, but was instrumental in industrial growth of the city. The Pump House operated until 1950, when the city moved to well water. The Pump House served a number of businesses and organizations since 1950. Upland opened the pub in 2016. We were greeted and promptly seated in the bar when we entered. Our server/bartender, Jess, was attentive and friendly. Several other servers also engaged with us, as well. One brought me a fascinating pamphlet describing the history of the building because I was curious. We arrived in time to sample their 3:00 - 5:00 pm Happy Hour. (I love a good Happy Hour.) We ordered Dragonfly IPAs, which went down smooth on a hot summer day. We also enjoyed a couple of sliders from the Happy Hour menu. The Bad Elmer's Fav burger was good with lots of bacon but my favorite was the Hoosier Tenderloin. I should note that much of the food is locally sourced. The building has a large dining room, bar, private dining, private event room, and a fabulous patio with river views. The landscaping is gorgeous. Their signature beers are available for purchase to go along with the logo shirt and a few other logo items. I highly recommend a visit. The food and beer are first class. The setting is lovely and service is attentive.

The Service: Good, friendly, and helpful, even if it is not quite top-level perfection. The Theme: A cool, historic building from 1900 with a fun old-time soda fountain concept. The Bad The Music: The continuous antique pipe organ sounds were monotonous. Playing peppy 1940s or 1950s tunes would make the experience much more fun and lively. Unfortunately, we were refused service, even though another girls' softball team had just been served before we arrived. We understand that restaurants can become busy and sometimes have limitations, but it was frustrating to see one team accommodated while ours was turned away. The inconsistency left our players, parents, and coaches feeling unwelcome. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great reputation, which made the experience even more disappointing. We had been looking forward to visiting, but based on how our group was treated, we'll be choosing other places to support in the future.

I was thrilled when I realized it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying! They do an incredible job creating unique, fruit-forward beers. They even make a sour IPA that tastes almost like a margarita--bright, refreshing, and not overly hoppy at all. A flight was the perfect way to try several flavors. The food portions were huge! We ordered the brisket nachos and a mushroom burger without realizing the burger was a double. It was so much food, and everything was delicious. The beer, food, and experience absolutely lived up to two years of anticipation. We will definitely be back!

My girlfriend ordered a Bloody Mary for her drink and we got the Loaded Pulled Pork Fries for an appetizer. The fries were tasty, only complaint is they could've used more of the BBQ sauce due to the pork being a bit bland on its own. The fries were crunchy and seasoned well. The Bloody Mary was good, not the best she had ever had but it was good. She really enjoyed the "snacky snacks" on the top. We then ordered the Margherita pizza. It came out looking visually great. Upon tasting it was a tasty pizza. Would we order it again, I don't think so, but that is because it just isn't our normal go to. It was nice to try and a pleasant experience. When we eventually return we will try a different pizza and hope to enjoy it better.

Would I recommend coming here for food? No. Would I recommend coming here for cheap drinks? Yes…read more My husband and I went here last night for dinner after going down to Columbus to watch our niece play her volleyball tournament. They were packed and had trivia going on, but they still had plenty of places to sit inside and on the small patio. We had wanted to sit outside since the weather was nice, so we grabbed a table in the corner on the patio (it is a seat yourself establishment). After a while, a server came over to get our drink orders and we each ordered a water. I asked for a Bud Light on draft, which was listed on their menu, but he told me they only have it bottles and just had Michelob Ultra on draft that was similar. No problem, we each ordered one of those. Some time passed and I saw our server come out onto the patio, look at us, and promptly spin around to go back inside. A couple minutes later he returned with our waters and an apology about the beers taking a long time because "the bartender was too busy talking." I got more of the impression that he forgot to put in our order at all, hence the quick turnaround to get waters when he realized he never came back to our table. We put in our food orders in the meantime- I ordered the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. Drinks came out eventually and were huge/ice cold, which was nice. The food also came out within 10 minutes, which we had initially been happy about because we were so hungry and we still had an hour drive back to Indy. However, my Reuben sandwich had huge, thick chunks of meat vs thinly sliced beef and it was extremely hard to take bites of and took a long time to chew. I had to keep using my hands to rip pieces off the sandwich. There was also hardly any sauerkraut on it. My husband's roast beef sandwich had very little roast beef and absolutely no flavor, but was supposed to have a kick from the horseradish sauce. The sweet potato fries were good though, they just had a little too much salt on them. Overall, we had mixed reviews with our visit. Our beers were only $5.50 each, so that was a crazy good price. Not sure if it's just for trivia night or always like that. Several times throughout our visit we kept getting hit with the smell of cigarette smoke because the patio is off the main sidewalk and no one monitors that people are actually far enough away from the building. Super unpleasant. This is definitely a fun place to meet friends for drinks, but I'd pass on the sandwiches and see if other menu options are better.
