We were passing through Indiana and needed a place to eat and park our camper. We went to this Cracker Barrel location and parked near some shade and a retention pond, not a bad view for a Cracker Barrel parking lot! We had dinner and our waitress, Brooke, was very sweet, attentive, and friendly. I had the two grilled chicken breasts and two sides, dumplins and coleslaw. I liked this chicken option because it was low calorie and only had spices on it, no sauce. My husband had the breakfast burger and two sides, hash brown casserole and coleslaw. He ordered his burger medium-rare and it came out well-done, which was disappointing. He also didn't realize the burger came topped with hash brown casserole, so he had a lot of casserole he couldn't finish. Also, we had the biscuits and corn muffins. I liked the taste of the biscuit but the corn muffin was awful. My husband thought the corn muffin was fine, he put butter and jelly on it. read more

We had not been to Crackle Barrel for years following several bad experiences but decided to try this one when we were in Edinburgh as it was the only sit-down restaurant we saw there. As usual, the entry is overwhelming, in a bad way, with all of the intrusive kitchen items you have to pass thru to just reach the hostess stand. We were promptly seated. Our server was Kari and she was great, attentive enough without being overbearing. I had a veggie egg dish which did not look promising when it arrived but turned out to be quite good. My husband had one of the breakfast hash brown creations which he thought was decent except for one cold spot. The biscuits were warm, fresh and soft. The restaurant was very noisy, as usual. The prices are very reasonable. Overall, a good experience but for the noise and kitch. read more

On our way back home we stopped at this Cracker Barrel location. We only had to wait about 15 minutes. Sunday brunch its always busy anywhere you go. So 15 minutes was not bad at all. Our server Michelle was outstanding. She was friendly and very polite. Our order came out perfect. We special order hashbrowns plain extra crispy and they were as we ordered! Food was delicious. I just witnessed what might have been the most heinous display of a lack of professionalism I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I watched a family of seven (including four children, one of whom was an infant) get seated right next to me. The children were very well behaved but obviously very hungry. After about five minutes of them sitting at the table in the middle of the dining room, a waitress named Miranda (who, for some reason, has been allowed to work at Cracker Barrel for at least five years based on her apron) approached the host who seated the family and brought him to the table of the family. Once in the middle of the dining room and after she had called over the waitress for the section, Miranda proceeded to slap the family's table and then began berating the host about an apparent mistake he had made. It quickly became clear to me (as well as everyone else in the dining room because Miranda was not at all trying to keep her voice down) that there had been some confusion about one of the tables that had been pushed together to create a table big enough for the family. Unfortunately, a woman had previously been seated at a two-person table and, because she left the table with all of her belongings, the host was under the impression that the two-person table was available and used it for the family. As Miranda continued to belittle the host in front of the patrons, one of the children at the table began quietly crying (perhaps out of both hunger and confusion at the nasty table-side display). After about two to three minutes of this nonsense, the group dispersed. About three minutes after this, the clearly frustrated host regretfully informed the family at the table that they were going to have to get up and wait on another table because the lone woman who had been seated was back. (Side note: I cannot, for the life of me, understand why this woman felt she needed to be seated at that EXACT table when there were other two-person tables open in the same area of the dining room. I digress.) The family, infant and crying child in tow, then reluctantly got up and began leaving. Before the family was even back in the store area, the manager approached Miranda saying that she needed to hear "all sides of the story." Again, this is all happening in the dining room, in front of the patrons, and at a volume loud enough that anyone looking their way could hear. The family of seven ended up leaving the restaurant all together. The unaccompanied woman delightfully began her meal with a cup of coffee at their table. My family and I were unsettled and, quite frankly, appalled by the ordeal and decided to leave the restaurant, as well. I have never seen such childish behavior from the staff of a restaurant. I was particularly disturbed by the fact that this entire hoopla was sparked by a simple mistake. I hope, but highly doubt, that the Cracker Barell Edinburgh staff, particularly Miranda, will learn some interpersonal skills and, at the very least, learn to have their disagreements beyond earshot of the customers. read more

I genuinely think the breakfast at Cracker Barrel is hard to beat. I have been coming since I was a baby, but it's never disappointed. This particular location is the one I've been coming to the most since I moved to Indianapolis a few years ago. On this particular visit, I didn't want too much. I got a side of hashbrown casserole and a side of sugar-glazed ham. I was worried that this wouldn't be enough food, but I was blown away by the portion sizes of each. I went with 5 other people, so it did take a while for our party of 6 to receive our food after ordering, but it was worth the wait. A very well-known fact about me is that I love hot sauce. Cracker Barrel has Tabasco hot sauce which is perfect for the hashbrown casserole and ham combination. It adds a perfect spicy and vinegary taste to the sweet and savory meal I ordered. I liked cutting off a piece of ham and eating it with a forkful of hashbrown casserole. The BEST part of the meal was when my fiance decided he was full before he ate his last pancake. I had a sliver of it, and it was SO good! The sweetness from the syrup and the saltiness from my ham was the perfect combination. Next time, I would get pancakes as well so that I can have that combination. You have to appreciate the vibes of a Cracker Barrel. Today 11/10/24 My fiancé and I made our way from Carmel, Indiana to Edinburgh for some light shopping at the outlet mall. Today we had Savannah C. as our server and I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt and most importantly, I'm very patient. Upon being walked to our table, the cleanliness of the table and seat was bewildering, just dirty and my seat had a small puddle of tea in it so I was sitting on the edge of the seat until I got napkins. No silverware or napkins to start... No worries. We then proceeded to sit at our table for 10-15 minutes without a greet from anyone. Again, patience is key with it being Sunday. However, we haven't begun to reach the tip of the iceberg lol... Our server walks up to our table and immediately asks what we would like to drink. No formal greeting, no apology for the delay, not even a simple "how are you folks doing this afternoon?" We put our drink and food order in immediately to recoup the time lost... After we the put the order in, 3 tables were then sat around us... These 3 tables were greeted immediately with a formal greeting, smiles and attentiveness. Now I could sit here and just bash on the greeting but I have far more to complain about. I decided to turn the football game on my phone to distract myself from the atrocious service and to keep my blood pressure increasing... While doing so, I began to think about my experiences as a server while I was in college and thought about the time I first started until the day I put my two weeks in and I couldn't recall a single moment where I neglected my guests.... Simple communication goes a long way. "I apologize for the delay, I am backed up just a bit." "Thank you for your patience, your food will be out shortly." I mean literally anything could have been said to at least make the guest (myself and my fiancé) feel a little better about the situation. Now back to the 3 tables... During this experience, the 3 tables had their drinks, food and silverware before we did. This is where I began to absolutely lose my ever loving mind. I wanted to leave but I was already locked in after 2 quarters of football. I am sure we all know how long 2 whole quarters of football lasts even with tv timeouts... We then get our food only for it to be wrong, this is laughable.... We begin to eat our food only to be disappointed in the lack of effort from the entire staff, not just our server... This entire experience was unlike anything I've ever experienced, literally anywhere. If it wasn't the lord's day today and if it wasn't close to the holidays, I could have been incredibly cold and callus but I didn't. I paid, tipped and made my way out in a hurry... If this was a Dave Portnoy review/scoring system... Easily a -10.5/10 experience. I know for a fact I could serve with a peg leg, eye patch and hook for a hand better than our server today. I ordered through DoorDash. My order was hot, fresh and delicious. I ordered the Grandma's Pecan Pancakes with scrambled eggs, smoked sausage and an iced caramel latte. My pancakes were fluffy and delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage had great flavor. My meal was overall great and filling. My iced caramel latte was delicious. My husband ordered the steak cooked medium with loaded fries hash brown casserole. The steak appeared to be cooked medium rare but was excessively tough and rubbery making it very difficult to eat. There are no more mom and pop restaurants that serve breakfast. I gave Cracker Barrel another chance because it's really the only place to get breakfast. I'm always very kind and understanding because I've worked in the restaurant industry. The waitress I had today was confrontational and extremely arrogant. I have eaten here a few times as you can see with the photo I have provided. The eggs were supposed to be scrambled and they were just fried eggs thrown together on a grill. The sausage was small and tasteless, with a terrible texture. Bacon I received was plain and ok. (small) Pancakes were flat and to browned around the edge. An interesting but skippable seasonal drink is the SPICED APPLE TEA, made with unsweet tea and apple cider. I like both unsweet tea and apple cider, but this drink somehow combined the worst of both. Of course the real reason I normally come here is the comfort food...the DUMPLINS, CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN, BISCUITS AND SAWMILL GRAVY are all amazing. We were in the area visiting a friend and decided on Cracker Barrel for lunch. There was a 30 minute wait. Our table wasn't exactly ready when we walked up to it. The bus boy was still cleaning the table off. There was only two silverware settings for five of us. Our server, Halley, came once we decided on food and drinks. She was not friendly and not helpful. We had to request more silverware and drinks and was rude when we requested those items. She was not wearing her mask properly and just seemed to have an attitude. While I was walking up to the counter to pay, another employee cut me off and acted like I was in her way. This is just an example of why I really dislike eating at chain restaurants and try to stick to local places. We had the absolute worst experience of our entire lives. The service was ok, but the food was THE MOST disgusting, cold, horrible tasting wet thing. The grits were god awful. There was a wet and stiff film on top of them, something that happens when you warm up milk in the microwave for too long. The food was literally freezing. We always enjoy stopping at Cracker Barrel anytime we're traveling. We know we always get a constantly good meal of any of the usual favorites. And we cn count on getting good service. This location was no exception. We walked in and got seated right away. Our server, Melissa, came over right away and took our order for fresh hot coffee. Another thing that is always consistent. It was still morning time so we decided to get breakfast meals. I ordered Momma's Pancakes w/bacon. comes with three huge buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, bacon and real maple syrup. They have also started putting bottles of honey on all the tables. I could not resist putting it on my cakes. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy w/bacon. The biscuits are always homemade, hot, fresh and delicious. All that and the bottomless coffee we were in heaven. When you visit make sure you save enough time to browse the gift shop. They have so many wonderful things you can get as gifts or just for yourself. And there are also hard to find candies, drinks and all kinds of knick nacks. read more

We normally don't go to this location but we were on our way to Brown county. My hubby ordered his usual Uncle Hershels with sugar cured ham two eggs over easy and hash brown casserole. She brought him the city ham it was so salty I sent it back but our waitress said well I wrote down to city ham. So he ask for a hamburger steak in said. It took so long our food was gone and ready to go. So he cut in to it and it was not done. Hubby said I'm done and we payed the bill don't know if we'll try that location again. read more

Greeted by an unfriendly par 3 server. He didn't smile one time. Seemed like he was rushing us. Didn't let us know about promotions. He never carried a tray, so he kept handling glasses by the rim where you may drink. At the table, everything was dirty, sugar caddies, salt and pepper. Bowl left on table of previous customers jellies and butters, as well as ketchup. Dirty silverware. The food came out rather quickly. The cole slaw was spilling onto my sandwich though. Not a huge deal. My apple cider ended up coming out after my meal. The server said it was frozen. Overall food taste was decent. About what you'd expect from a Cracker Barrel. The server never checked back to see if we needed anything. Never pre bussed the table. Just asked if it was all on one check, and dropped off the ticket. Overall a pretty unpleasant dining experience. I do understand that it can be hectic when a restaurant is busy, but it should not be reflected on the friendliness or professionalism of the staff. We stopped at this one on the way back from Indianapolis the other day. The food was edible, sort of. It had been a really long day and I was hungry. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie (it was the special) and found it bland. The vegetables were too mushy and the chicken was too sparse. The crust was dry and crumbly, not flaky as I was expecting. The side of Hash Brown Casserole that I ordered to accompany my entree was hard and dry. Sexy Beast ordered his usual Chicken & Dumplings. He finished off the plate with no complaints about the quality of the food. He was, however, annoyed that the service was less than stellar. The waitress asked if we'd like drink refills, wandered off, and failed to bring the drinks. I had to flag her down later and ask again. She could have been having an off day. It happens. But, really, she didn't stop by the table at all after dropping off the plates. read more

If I could give this 0, I would. My husband and I ordered food for two. Their website had an error message that wouldn't allow the order to submit so I could not complete my order online. A tiny inconvenience since they won't do curbside on phone orders, but not the end of the world. After calling in the order, my husband arrived right at the estimated time of completion. The order was not ready and was not ready for 20 extra minutes beyond the stated time. This was a bit irritating as who wants to wait inside for an extra 20 minutes in a crowded room during covid. But eventually he got the food and came home. He should have gone through each item but the bag was huge with lots of different containers. Inside the busy store section, there wasn't anywhere to set the bags and take out everything to verify it all. Once home, we opened the sack to realize my items were included + an item NOT ordered, but only 1 side of his meal was included, not the other sides, nor his main meal (which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage, etc). At this point we were very irritated as the process had started badly from the website, to the extra time, to now not even having both of our meals. We called to ask for a refund on his meal since it was not received. At this point 15 min there, 20 minute wait, 15 minutes back - we were done. We were not going back and wasting another 45-50 minutes on this nightmare. We would split what was received and snack at home if we were still hungry. A male assistant manager said he could not refund us since we didn't place the order online. He said their system won't allow refunds to in person charges (which seems impossible). We asked to speak to the manager just for a refund since we paid for a whole meal we didn't receive. He hung up!! It could have been an accident but based on his extreme irritation and rudeness, I doubt it. Plus it happens again as you'll see below. After another call, we talked to Christine or Christina the main manager. She said she packed up our order herself and there was no way we have missing items. I assured her yes, a whole meal is missing. Plus I have 3 plain pancakes in my hands that we didn't order at all. She could look at the order and see neither meal should have included plain pancakes. She doubles down -- that it is impossible. At this point, I'm flabbergasted that she is essentially calling me a liar. I offer to FaceTime her, text or email her a picture of the plain pancakes received. If she personally packaged it, and is 100% sure it's correct, I would like her to explain how it's possible we have a whole order of plain pancakes we didn't pay for nor order. And if she is wrong about that- then couldn't she be wrong about our missing items- which WERE REALLY MISSING!!? She refused to FaceTime or allow a pic to be sent. I offered to COME all the way back and bring the pancakes. Honestly the fact that she was accusing me of lying (without saying "lying") was offensive. Showing her this extra item was the only proof I could show as I can't prove that something *wasn't* received but I could certainly prove the order was incorrect by showing received stuff not ordered. Again she refused saying she won't refund it even if we go in person. She then says did you check the other sack? We only received one bag. Not a second. She says well that must be the issue. That could explain the missing meal. Perhaps we should have received one more bag. But that doesn't explain the item we received incorrectly. The plain pancakes should not have been in any of our bags. But this doesn't change her actions. She still refuses to refund us. She says she will write our names down for a future credit of the missing items. I'm not satisfied but I start listing the items not received and realize she hung up after saying she would write our names down. Not sure when it's become acceptable to hang up twice on people, charge them for items they don't receive, and imply that they are liars while refusing to view evidence... read more

MRS says... i've actually seen the CRACKER BARREL off Blankenbaker Parkway in Louisville but never cross my mind to try because we don't go that side of the city often. in addition, from what i heard breakfast is the big thing at CRACKER BARREL. driving up to chicago early morning, we decided to stopy by for breakfast. we were going to eat at mcdonalds. couldn't help but notice the many cars parked in front of CRACKER BARREL off Edinburgh Outlet Stores. out of curiosity, we went ahead and check out the place hard to tell where the restaurant actually because as we walked inside the country store, there were a lot of people standing and the store itself was crowded with holiday stuff and other merchandise. anyway we had to wait for about 30minutes for a non-smoking table we were sitted by the fireplace which is very nice and cozy. our server Jodi was very nice too. i got the country grilled platter. i was expecting a huge portions when I ordered the grilled platter. thinking that i can share with MR ... i was disappointed to see a tiny sausage patty, a small slice of ham and a slender strip of bacon. the only thing I was able to share with MR was the other sunny side egg because the grilled platter comes with 3 eggs. why? i don't know. to seal the deal, we ordered pecan pie and i think it was the best part of our breakfast. i ordered with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was perfect. breakfast portions may not be enough which is comparable to WAFFLE HOUSE but CRACKER BARREL's pecan pie is a must and i would come back for that reason read more
