"Watch out! She's mean" those words were spoken by my 11 year old granddaughter. I told her not to say that and it wasn't nice. We had just gone through the drive thru and realized that we were given the wrong blizzard. When I went inside to get the right one, the manager insisted that I ordered the Oreo blizzard not the Reese's one. I kindly told her that I needed the Reese's blizzard since that's the one I ordered. She then proceeded to snatch the blizzard out of my hand, threw it into the trash, handed me the correct one and said "There" I then returned to my car and humble told my granddaughter that she was right. That lady was mean. What I don't understand is, why is she there? She clearly doesn't want to be. She's so rude to customers. When I told others about my experience they said "oh yeah. Went in, July 1, at 12:15 and ordered a 7 buck lunch crispy chicken. Recieved a single cheeseburger,(instead of a double which is the other 7 buck lunch option). Then we tried to make another order but the reciever could not hear us yelling. Second order was only a cheese burger, they forgot the fries. Also did not recieve napkins or an itemized receipt. When i went in to get my crispy chicken i wasnt helped for 5 minutes. The male was even leaning against the wall waiting for the food to come up. First time eating here. Simply didn't know Cottage Grove had a Dairy Queen. It's not on/near the fast-food row by the main highway where we usually frequent but instead is located on the south end of the old highway, close to old town. It has a spacious & clean dining room. ONION RINGS were the best! Received food fast, hot & yummy. Had great service start to finish from "Charles" who was exceptionally courteous & respectful at all times to all customers. Plenty of free parking spots on both sides of the building. *Will definitely eat here again* but will ask for a food tray next time, which makes for an easier time carrying the food, napkins, condiments & drinks to the table as well as for clean-up when finished. read more

This was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had at a Dairy Queen. I have certainly had bad experiences before, but this place is a mess. I didn't say anything when the person that took my order stood in front of me and ignored me. I didn't say anything when I asked for a sauce substitution and her response was "I don't know" (later to find out apparently no). I didn't say anything when I asked for a receipt, and instead she just walked away. I didn't even say anything when half the chicken on my sandwich was just gristle, and the other half was destroyed by overcooking (literally could not bite into half of it, and yes I should have said something). I figured I would at least get a refill since I didn't get all of my food, but was told there were no free refills "due to Covid." That's when I said something. Not because of the policy (even if it is a policy that makes no sense unless it is to cut costs), no, I said something because there was a sign up that said to ask for refills. I had been pushed over the edge with this place, and questioned how they don't even do what their own signs say, and was met with the most combative, defensive manager you can imagine. There was clearly no thought in that head of hers that maybe I had a point. She's done this before. She had it all out and ready to go - I'm going to call the cops, I don't control policy, she's new, all the classic hits of someone that doesn't want to take responsibility for anything, and isn't going to help someone that questions anything. Seriously, if you are just passing through the area and like Dairy Queen, there are others north or south of here that can't possibly be worse. I always look at the bathroom of any food chain. If they know how to take of it properly then they know how to give good service most of the time. This facility has a good clean bathroom . Nothing extraordinary but it is clean considering it's midday already!! Onion rings is golden brown, warm and crispy delicious! Love the french fries, vanilla ice cream and the blizzards is just right too. The crew is busy but they attended to us just right, not friendly (doesn't have to be) but definitely not rude, it's just right service as usual. Worst service ever. Hands down! I am not picky, I understand restraunts and how not everything can be perfect all the time. But the drive thru ladies have been beyond rude every time we go there. I waited at the drive-thru line with my pregnant wife who was craving a Blizzard. The line was long, and it wasn't moving. After 30 minutes, a young employee put orange cones behind my car, and told the 4 cars in line behind me that they were too understaffed to keep the drive-up window open, and that I would be the last car in line. After a full 45 minutes, we got up to the order board only to be told that they were no longer serving people in the drive-thru because they were too busy inside. Now, if this were an isolated incident, I would give the place another chance. But I have been going to this Dairy Queen since I was a kid - nearly forty years. The service and food here are awful. Abysmal. They are always understaffed, and the help is completely inept. Tips? The place one block North on the West side of Highway 99 has great burgers, ice cream and shakes. Their prices are lower, and their ice cream cones are huge. My food was cold and was first handed to someone else, the order prior to mine had been messed up and to correct it the cook opened the opened the meal on the trash can. It sucks about the low rating at this place, I came here during work with one of my clients and we had great experience. The interior was a bit outdated, but you're in cottage grove, and I believe that the inside matches with the historic town just fine. Our cashier was an absolute sweety. This place deserves zero stars. The staff is externally rude and uninviting. Yes I know this is a big chain and it's Dairy Queen however, I would assume the owner would take more pride in its business then to hire people who are rude/ have attitudes when their drive through speaker doesn't work properly. We were on a long drive to Portland and wanted a quick meal. We don't have many DQs in our home area so we decided to give it a try, thinking, based on the commercials, that the burgers would be grilled and we could then get some ice cream. It was not a simple off/on from the highway. It turned out to be over 4 miles (only learned once we made the exit). I don't know how they made the burgers (fry, grill) but it seemed like it must have been microwaved before serving (to melt the cheese?). The whole thing was a soggy gross mess.
