There were flies flying around everywhere. You could see the staff hitting them in the kitchen but we didn't see that until after we ordered. The prices were like buying food in the airport, ridiculous. At least our food was hot when we got it. That's one plus. read more

My fam picked Sunday night to go see Mt. Rushmore, which put us in Keystone at dinnertime. Pickin's were slim, expectations were low. We drove the strip not once but twice looking for a place that could accommodate the five of us and our varying degrees of pickiness (including general, vegetarian, and gluten-free). I spied with my little eye a restaurant with a banner advertising something like 21 flavors of soft-serve. We could all choke down an iceberg salad if it were followed by soft serve... ..or so we thought. We waited at the hostess stand for several minutes before being shown to a table. Perusing the menu, we one by one found a reason to be chagrined. Real, true chagrin. How often does that happen? I'll spare you the details except to say they offer something called "calamaria" and many types of fried and fried again animal parts. It's impossible to say who thought of it first, but I believe it was mom who finally said we could leave. There was simply nothing we'd have paid money to eat. The one highlight was overhearing the comment by a customer on our way out that went something like this: "Aw, this brownie is a male brownie. I prefer female brownies - no nuts." --- Hot Eats, Cool Treats to the rescue. We opted for Cool Treats and were impressed by the quick service of the teenage staff. Mom had to ice her own lemonade, but that's a function of the self-serve fountain station and not a service issue. Lil' bro's Blizzard had a solid inch of mix-ins at the bottom, which he felt was a bonus. My hot fudge sundae would have been standard-issue anywhere else, but in light of our circumstances, it was manna from heaven. Long live the Queen. read more

Located in a long strip mall, this place serves up your standard DQ fair, along with Orange Julius (remember those?). Really the only difference is that it is open to a coffee and pastry shop next door. Very limited seating, so best if you want something on the go, but we did find a couple open tables. Nothing exciting here, but the food was ready quickly, was hot and tasted like every other DQ across the country. read more

I would give 0 star if I could. My blizzard was melting already when I got it. Very disappointing.

Ordered and went to pay with a gift card. Cashier says I don't think we take gift cards. I say do you or don't you. Again she says I don't think we take gift cards. Me, um since you don't know, can you ask your manager??? Manage comes over and is a COMPLETE JERK about us asking about gift cards!!! Not only that, the service was EXTREMELY slow. Restaurant is dirty and our blizzards were the worst we ever had!! Avoid this place and support a small business!! Or at least one with better management! read more

Blizzard came out 1/4 liquid icecream, 3/4 very very soft ice cream, and a couple pieces of the topping left an incredibly sour taste in my mouth. I turned down 2 scoops of ice cream next door hoping to dispel the heat with my favorite DQ blizzard. read more

While traveling to Mount Rushmore we decided to stop and have lunch. We had our dogs with us, so we were going to just grab something and go. However, we saw this Dairy Queen with a few tables outside. Perfect. I went in and ordered for us, which turned out to be about a 20 min process. It was horrible. It was a Tuesday, around 2 o' clock so it wasn't even lunch time. Still don't know why they were so busy. Anyway, I ordered and we waited and waited. My husband even went to check on the delay. He got a "we're busy" from one of the workers. Duh, we knew that, but still. Anyway, finally our food came up and was good, but still not happy about the wait. I don't always complain, but it's called FAST FOOD for a reason people. I would hate to see them during a weekend. Anyway, it was nice sitting outside and talking to other travelers so it wasn't too bad, but I would rather have not wasted an hour just to order and wait for the food. Kind of sad. Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon on the way back from seeing the monument and were the only customers in the restaurant when we arrived. The cashier didn't speak English and the cooks butchered our order. We were overcharged for an Orange Julius and had to show a receipt to remind them to make it for us because they didn't believe us - we're the only ones here, how did you forget!! Halfway through my "flame thrower" burger I realized, this isn't hot at all - they had given me a plain cheeseburger (and no fries until I asked when I'd get them, then they started making them). Some customers did come in after us and we're served much quicker than us and the cashier was much more interested in making faces at my kids than getting my order filled. Insanely poor management and an immaculately discombobulated service. I won't be back to any DQ restaurants after this - I'm done.
