    Gluten-Free make-your-own pie

We chose a quiet evening to check out the rock shops Keystone, SD. Ended up in their tourist-trap area and parked the big dually in the public parking lot for $5 (not horrid, considering we actually fit!)... Walked along the boardwalk and stuck our heads in a few shops... and wouldn't you know it, hunger struck! First, there were a LOT of gluten-free options around, which was awesome. But we wanted pizza. Jane's had cute outdoor seating, a rooftop patio (which was pretty much empty) and create-your-own GF pies. Wins all around. The pizza came out pretty quick. The gluten-free crust was baked on its own aluminum pan, though cross-contamination in these places is almost always a possibility, I appreciate the extra mile of cooking it in its own dish. The guys at the counter were friendly and helpful, giving us boxes when we needed them. The pizza itself was ok. I wouldn't say it was freaking delicious, but we were hungry and it satisfied the need. If we're in that area again, we'll probably stop back.

Pretty standard conventional Midwestern bar pie. Prefab frozen crust. 7 inch veggie pie was $13.80, including a 3% credit card fee.

Love going to Keystone to see Mount Rushmore of corse. But we always eat at Janes Boardwalk Pizza. What I like is the cheese there's always a lot and it has that pull on it. The seating is on the boardwalk under roof so you can watch the people go by or you can sit upstairs in the sun.

If you like thin crust pizza with generous toppings and stretchy hot mozzarella, you won't be disappointed. I wasn't in the mood for pizza. The family was clamoring for pizza after a long day trekking through the Badlands, visiting the Minuteman II, and touring Mt. Rushmore. This pizza joint is maybe a 10 minute ride at most from the Mt Rushmore parking lot. We ordered a large 2-topping for $19.50, sausage and bacon on half, and mushroom and red onion on the other half. More than enough for our teenager-laden family of 4. We were surprised that the place was run by a handful of friendly youthful faces. But the food was fantastic. Generous really doesn't do justice to the pizza. It looked like a 1" deep dish pie. The copious cheese on top was a deep golden brown and endured no toppings escape or fall out. Normally pizzas with a lot of toppings and especially mushrooms and onions can become soggy. Not this one. The crust was thin, crispy and strong as a plank when held by the edge. Perfect! The red sauce also smelled of fresh herbs and spices. We finished our meal with the house ice cream. We all decided that "jolted cow" caramel mocha with chocolate brownie chunk sounded the best. We had that in milk shake and single-scoop waffle cone form. Both were made generously. A great value with friendly and fast service. We will be coming back!

If I could give this place no stars I would. What a waste of our money and crappy lunch for us on our day out as a family. So I ordered this....bag salad with reheated frozen chicken...not what I expected, absolute waste of our money. The water is nasty so anything not ordered from a can or bottle is gross. Husband got the super nachos, nothing super about them...basically cheese on chips with a little meat....what a waste. Kids got a small pizza that was dry....barely any sauce. Youngest got the hot dog meal, no choice for chips. Standard hot dog which is okay. Don't waste your tastebuds and money on this place. Also, there sign says all prices include sales tax....yet they charge you sales tax on your order.

I thought this place was decent but not great. I've had worse and I've had better. When there aren't many dining options in Keystone then I guess this would be rated the #1 place to get pizza. You order at the window then sit at a table outside. They bring you the pizza which was made to order. It looked delicious but only tasted good. The staff was very friendly but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

This was a terrible place to eat. Great ice cream and pizza is just ok. The service for anything other than ice cream and ready by the slice pizza is awful. Took us 30-45 minutes to get our food and they said it would be 15 minutes

Driving through the black hills made better with Ice Cream

This is the best ice cream I've ever had. The team are all great people who get to know their regulars and always lend a hand when making the most difficult situation... choosing your flavor. This ice cream is literally so good that my girlfriend made me promise to ship 10 gallons of brownie s'more all the way to Michigan when we get married. Don't skip Jane's. I've tried all of the other options and it's simply not a choice. Jane's is affordable and incredibly tasty.

Jane's combination was delicious! Thin crust loaded with toppings and lots of sauce! They even delivered a small pizza to our place.

Mediocre pizza at best. May be good for the area but objectively it's only slightly better than a frozen pizza at the supermarket.

Good slices on the boardwalk. There's outside seating and you can sit on the balcony and overlook the Main Street in Keystone.

I had wanted to try this brand when we visited the Mt. Rushmore KOA and was sorely disappointed they had so many unique flavors... but none that were multi-allergen friendly. Cue.... BENKY'S! Strange name, but friendly smiles and delicious creaminess-in-a-cup! I get chocolate peanut butter or some variation thereof (my favorite) at pretty much every ice cream place. Makes it easy for me to judge them more fairly. Benky's was creamy, the peanut butter swirled in very thin layers so it basically melted in your mouth... and the cute interior of the ice cream shop gave us a nice, cool air-conditioned place to relax and cool both our insides and outsides at the same time. They also had outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade if you're into running the sweat-race of "Can I finish this before it drips all over my hand or becomes a puddle of goo in my cup?" sort of thing. Overall, good ice cream, good experience and delicious.

We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak ($18), a Cheeseburger ($17.50 + $0.75), and the Grilled Chicken Platter ($14.50) for our kid. Total came out to $54.50 for three people -- which, okay, it's a tourist spot, so I expected to pay a premium. What I didn't expect was to pay premium prices for food that felt like it was barely tried. The Philly was overcooked and dry. The meat was dark and tough -- no juiciness, no flavor. For $18, that's just not acceptable. The burger looked decent but tasted flat and underwhelming. The Grilled Chicken Platter for my child was the most disappointing -- it's listed as "grilled" on the menu, but the chicken came out barely touched. Pale, soft, almost like it was steamed and then given a quick pass on the grill just for looks. The mashed potatoes and corn on the side were fine -- nothing special. I'll give credit where it's due -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Eating with a direct view of Mount Rushmore is a cool experience you won't get anywhere else, and the dining area has a nice open feel to it. Service was also okay, no real complaints there. But when you're spending $54 on a family meal and every main dish misses, the view only carries you so far. If you're visiting, pack your own food or eat before you arrive. You'll thank yourself later.

But some of the states' best ice cream can be found around Rapid City, South Dakota. Enter The Silver Lining Creamery. This small-batch scoop shop only has locations in the Dakotas. But don't count out the rotating selection of premium, handcrafted ice cream. Silver Lining is routinely ranked among the best ice cream parlors in the state. The Rapid City location is at the far corner of the Main Street Square, adjacent to the covered downtown parking lot. Countless metal tables and chairs are organized on the outside patio, and the flavor lineup is markered onto a stainless steel menu beside a seasonal service window. A bulbed "ice cream" sign sits above the front entrance. Inside, the queue twists along the curved counter. Merch shelves and a grab-and-go freezer are pressed against the exposed brick wall to the right, while a half-booth is tucked into the corner beside the side entrance on the left. The two-tiered ceiling is accented by a baby blue lighted strip, while a deep blue "ice cream solves everything" neon sign is displayed against the back subway-tiled wall. Ambient music plays lightly in the background. My group visited on a Sunday evening in late spring, and Silver Lining still boasted a sizeable crowd. The flavor lineup ranged from standard to moderately ambitious -- namely, Silver Lining offered a perfume-y sage-flavored ice cream. After sampling multiple flavors, my partner and I opted to share a triple-scoop in a waffle cone. The cone was dwarfed by the giant scoops; our staff member treated it as a personal challenge to see how much ice cream the petite cone could possibly balance. The high butterfat content was unmistakable -- the ice cream was eyebrow-raisingly creamy but not overwhelmingly sweet. My favorite flavor was the mildly mocha-y Coffee Toffee, while my partner enjoyed the true-to-flavor Butterscotch. Our final flavor, Circus Town (birthday cake ice cream with frosted animal cracker), was no slouch, either. The service was efficient and accommodating, and a monster-sized triple scoop runs $8 -- a bargain by big-city standards. I left feeling impressed by the portion sizes and the execution. For a sophisticated yet crowd-pleasing dessert option, Silver Lining is a solid bet.
