Dilly Bar: The first Dairy Queen (DQ) opened in 1940, but it wasn't until 1955 that their iconic Dilly Bars were introduced. Each bar is made using vanilla soft serve encased in a crisp coating on a popsicle stick. I have the chocolate coated version, but cherry and butterscotch are also routinely available. My first job in high school was at DQ and one of my duties was making Dilly Bars. Back then we made them in shop for both individual orders and to sell in packs. I don't know if that is still the case today as this bar came in a sealed plastic bag. Confirming my suspicions, the bag identifies it was packaged by Unified Supply Chain in Minneapolis, MN. Although it wasn't fresh from the restaurant, the vanilla soft serve was still superior to most grocery store freezer ice cream. It might not be the thickest coating, but plenty of milk chocolate flavor still comes with the thin, but sturdy coating. Being on a popsicle stick, it's easy enough to eat on the go (I still prefer cups/dishes to cones/sticks from some unfortunate experiences as a kid). Everytime I go I feel the customer service is off putting. The person at the window with the glasses seemed flustered, didn't acknowledge me, just stated the price and starting taking the next persons order. Another thing when did Dairy Queen start putting Milk inside of blizzards. This is the only location I go to and end up getting melting, shake like blizzard. The Dairy Queen in Whitefish Bay Area, blizzards are stiff, you can actually taste the mix ins. I've visited different times to see if my experience would be better, and it has not. read more

This is one restaurant where I honestly have never had a messed up order. The ice cream they serve has always been of good quality and delicious. Their blizzards and banana splits have always been made to perfection. The appetizers on the menu have always been well prepared... onion rings or cheese curds. Sometimes the sandwiches are a hit or miss. The service has always been great, and the team has always been extremely polite and friendly. I enjoy this particular location a good deal. read more

Very disappointed! I just ordered a medium snickers blizzard. How do you mess up on of DQ's signature items?!?!? It was not blended well at all. It looked like a fresh pump of chocolate syrup on top, not blended into the blizzard and it was very soft like it had been sitting out for some time. It was not flipped over just before being served as it would have dripped all over the place. Worst blizzard I have ever been served. The snickers tasted off too, like freezer burn or something. The boy at Dairy Queen was Extremely RUDE and Sarcastic! My order was $9.54. I handed him a $20, and received $10.45 in change. Which was Wrong. I then said Can I have the Receipt? He huffily turned around to the Register and printed it out. I looked it over, then said: you owe me a penny. Live nearby and have stopped at this DQ for over 20 years. It was never a great location but now is much worse. Every couple of months will stop to see if it has improved, it never does! Seems all the food is just microwaved and often so hot the bun on burgers is wet shriveled up and burning hot till it turns into a rock! Cheese glues the soggy bun to the bottom of the box as it is all nuked off to a puddle. When are these place learn they have bad business because they serve terrible food? It was in the upper 80s and I saw this DQ and I thought how I can't remember the last time I had a cold treat from DQ, many long years ago so I stopped because It's more of a kid memory with dad vs adult memories which I can't think of. The place was one table occupied on a hot day which I thought was strange because this is the perfect day for DQ. Honestly I had to go to the DQ website to see the menu because I don't really know what they have before I walked in and looked like complete goof reading the huge menu board. To my surprise I saw coolers filled with take home ice cream cakes and other cold boxed/packaged treats. I opted for the peanut butter cup blizzard, med because I thought it would be small like other places but it was big for a medium I thought. From what I could tell it's soft serve ice cream blended with broken peanut butter cups shake mixer style. I thought this would be good and it was but I liked the hard chocolate vs the mushy peanut butter filling in the soft serve, OK I got this for next time because I want a hard/crunchy texture to complement the soft serve. This was a nice cold treat on a warm day and I should do this more often because a cold treat is very nice on a warm day. read more

I ordered a 4 piece chicken strip basket to go and specifically said I wanted fries and a few onion rings. I was charged $8.96 for 4 very small chicken strips and a handful of fries plus, a piece of toast ( Go figure? )There were no onion rings in it. I wish I would have been able to spend my money here, however, their dining room was closed (at 2pm). Furthermore, I was refused service walking up to the drive thru window. Covid or not, refusing service is piss poor customer service. Just (9/21/20 @ 445pm) went to the drive thru and the guy working the drive thru was a complete jerk! And this isn't the first time I've had bad service here. But unfortunately I love the crunch coat and you can't get it anywhere else! But this is DEFINITELY my last time going to this location! I asked for a single scoop of vanilla in a dish with crunch coat and some extra crunch coat on the side. He responds and says OK, you'd like a sundae with sprinkles and candy on the side. I said no wait, that's not my order. He responds with an attitude and says; "YES, YES IT IS! I go through through the drive thru and ask the employee to give me a moment while we figure out what we want so of choice he then proceeds to ask us every 5 seconds are you ready yet forcing us to rush it and didn't even end up ordering what we wanted. Ordering all by itself was a pain because the guy taking our order questioned everything all while sounding like he had marbles in his mouth. Mind you, besides the car at the window we were the only ones there. To be rushed through the order then sit behind that one other car for an additional 15 minutes then another 5 minutes for his to open up and take my payment. Firstly I will start off by saying people in these reviews are dramatic. It is the best it can be. They have a bunch of kids working there and they're doing their best at the moment. I think ownership switched over some very nice Indian people work there and they've never messed up my order I go often. The service is friendly most times and quick. Dinning is open and they're always very helpful. I wish people would cut this place some slack because it is still fast food not a restaurant. The dinning room is always clean and if it's not they will clean it for you if you ask. read more

This is Dairy Queen people. Not a steak house! We come for the Blizzards. There are usually young kids working the counter. I don't mind waiting a few minutes for them to make four different kind Blizzards. We come because we like Blizzards. At times you have to wait. Not any more than you would wait at another ice cream place. Heck, I just waited 15 minutes at Leon's for custard. It usually a quick in and out for a family of four. Tried to take my kids through the drive through on our bike on an 80 degree day after a 10 mile ride only to be be turned away because they don't take "walk ups". Dining room was closed even though the rest of the city has re-opened dining rooms at least for walk in orders if not dining in with social distancing. Where is line drawn with what they call "walk up orders". If my bike had a motor on it I'm sure they would serve me so please use some common sense. read more

Problems being the missing $10's worth of items, no receipt provided and an evening mgr (Jeff) who had no concept of basic customer retention principals. I was offered only the option to come back immediately for the bag not handed over. That would have been more than inconvenient and resulting in cold items. I would give this place zero stars if I could. First we were all but ignored when we walked in. Three separate employees walked part us, including a man that looked to the manager. Finally, a woman came to help us and she did not look happy we were there. In fact she acted like we bothered her. Second, she informs us that they don't participate in any of the current promotions since its past the end of the month. Well, we were there on the last day of the month, but according to her the 25th is the end of the month and we are wrong. She was so rude we decided to just leave and not get anything. Had her attitude been better, we might have still ordered and ate there. Third on the way out, she made rude comments about my father and I. She made sure she was loud enough that we heard it. I guess this store owner has too much money, and can afford to let his help be rude, and money to walk out of the store. The New owners/Management at this Dairy Queen is horrible. I went today 11/18/2022 at 3:41 p.m. I ordered a Kids Meal, and the 2/$5 treat choice. 1 Strawberry Sundae and 1 Caramel SundaeSundae. For the kids meal we ordered the cheeseburger, fries, and a white milk. All the food was o.k. but kinda small portions. We could barely understand the man on the speaker. It sounded like he said that they were out of Milk. So we finally understood what he was saying. He was very terse seeming frustrated that we couldn't understand him. When we got to the window and paid, the woman there seemed irritated when I asked for a receipt. Then the man gave me a drink carrier with the sundaes on it. There were NO lids on the sundaes. Being in the car, we asked for lids. He was very Rude and seemed Irritated that we had asked. NO WE'RE OUT OF LIDS! Had he told us as we ordered, we would've asked for a larger cup/dish to put them in. So then herather roughly shoved the milk and kids meal out to us, then closed the window. I knocked on the window and asked: "Doesn't the kids meal come with a small conecone?" OH I FORGOT! he almost yelled. These people are Not good communicators. If I could give this location no stars, I would. Every time I go there, they are out of multiple items-most of the time it's the monthly blizzard special. Tonight my husband stopped there to pick me up the chocolate cake blizzard- low and behold, they had it. When he got home and I opened it, it was a pumpkin pie blizzard. Mind you, there was not one single other customer at the store when he was there that the order could have been mixed up with. He drove back to get the correct blizzard and to let them know about their mistake. Just another disappointment when he got home- they forgot to put the chocolate cake in it. How dumb can you get? The blizzard's name has chocolate cake it! At this point there is no way either of us are driving back there so I call the store to let them know they didn't get it right again and the girl working hung up on me instead of apologizing. I recently have visited this location and noticing that the drive thru was swamped I went inside to order. After waiting for the customer in front of me to have her order taken I was next in line. The young lady whom was taking the orders proceded to place the order for the previous customer. After patiently waiting for her to return she and two other employees seeing me at the counter never asked me if my order was taken. Then finally I thought the young man that opened the cash register was going to take my order proceded to take change out of the register for the drive thru never asking if my order had been placed, or if I had been taken care of. After waiting for over ten minutes and not being waited on I decided I was not going to spend my money at this establishment. If I am not important enough to be acknowledged at the counter they have given me no choice but to take my money elsewhere. I advise you not to waste your time or money as at this establishment since the obviously do not care about customer service or encouraging good public relations. My advice to you all to take the patiage of your customers seriously, put yourself in your customers shoes. Would you like to not be waited on at a restaurant any of you would go to?
