Would I drive 30 minutes to get scoop ice cream somewhere? Absolutely not. Do I drive 35 minutes to…read moreget soft serve at Cup and Cone? On the regular. Call me a soft serve snob because well, I am. It just hits different. Cup and cone? It just hits different. Rich, creamy, milky, grade A soft serve. I'm a basic vanilla guy however I've tried other flavors and their dole whip. All fire. You can also dip your soft serve. On a different occasion when it was too hot outside I did a cherry dip. Melted like crazy under the dip but still fire and I'd do it again. Haven't tried their food but it always smells good. Should you give any and all the above a shot? Absolutely. Drive across town at rush hour hating your life in traffic? Worth it. The location? Small lot, street parking options, the cutest little stand you could ask for with a few benches to the side. I love it. Spring and summer will eventually be here, do yourself a favor and go treat yourself at cup and cone.

We went here after an early dinner in the area. We had seen something in the news that morning…read morethat it was one of three Minnesota ice cream shops that were competing in some national best ice cream competition. We were planning to to have dinner in the area anyway, we may as well try it out. It's basically a stand in a parking lot with like a strip mall next-door. There's plenty of outside seats and parking. There was no line when we got there at 5:30 on a 90° day. They only do soft serve ice cream so we got vanilla dip, vanilla sprinkle, and an orange dip cone. The chocolate dip did not taste very chocolatey, so I took it off as it was not worth the calories. The ice cream was melting fast, but the chocolate shell did not melt at all and kept its form to the end. Not sure what is in it that made it not melt. The soft serve itself was just OK. It wasn't very creamy or tasty, but it was cold and served its purpose on a hot day.

Ok I had this at a a festival where all of the food is heavily inflated. Of course the cost of this…read morewas ridiculous as well at $9 for two scoops and $2 for a waffle cone. The waffle cones were being freshly made on site and service was prompt and polite. I had the superman which was vanilla ice cream with three magical colors mixed into it and each one tasty like a different fruit loop which I was into. The other scoop was strawberry and man oh man was it good. All in all the prices have gotten out of control for things in the twin cities but the ice cream was one of the better ice creams I've had in the twin cities.

I visited Hometown Creamery's brick-and-mortar back in the day and LOVED it, so I was so happy to…read moresee the truck at an event I was at! I ordered the Biscoff flavor and the raspberry/dark chocolate/Graham cracker flavor. Honestly, you can't go wrong with Biscoff anything. I was happy to see plentiful crumbs of cookies! It wasn't the creamiest ice cream, but I could tell there was a TON of cookie butter and cookies in it which might have affected the texture. The flavor that really shone was the raspberry one. YUM. It tasted fresh, not at all heavy, the chocolate chunks were plentiful and thin which helped the texture, and the Graham crackers (which the menu said were special!) were delicious and blended together perfectly with the other flavors. I never thought of that combination, but now I just might have to make a raspberry s'more some day. I asked others with me how their various flavors were, and everyone raved about it - especially the blue raspberry dairy-free option. Well done, Hometown! I hope there's a brick-and-mortar open again soon!
