First time stopping at this location and overall it was relatively pleasant. Ample parking outside the building with a variety of seating options inside. If you need to grab a quick ice cream cake, they have plenty fully stopped in the case but know that they are $$$! Three teen/young adults working on a Sunday evening, not overly enthusiastic but the order was completed and no issues. The kids meal is a great price point and we appreciate that they offer a banana or applesauce as an option! We saved the best for last, the small blizzards, our hopes were high just Loki g at then! It's 92° but it feels like 98. What better place to go than Dairy Queen for an old fashioned milkshake; and a little nostalgia. The shake was thick and cold, just what I craved. The straw stays where you put it. Haven't had one in a very long time. The dining room felt like a walk-in box, compared to outside. The place is clean, the cashiers efficient and personable. DQ is great, especially with their upgraded name with Grill & Chill, giving the building a modern look and fresh food. I find DQ to be underrated in terms of locations, not finding many of from town to town, or even county and state. Luckily, Hyde Park has another location except it's titled Brazier, which the building has original look to it (my favorite). That will be my next assignment someday in the future. The parking lot is unique, considering there aren't a lot of spaces and the drive-through is poorly designed which can cause a traffic jam in the parking lot during lunch and dinner rush. Also, the entrance to DQ is only southbound on Route 9. Coming in northbound, there is a stoplight just south of it. Take a left and a right on a dead-end road and tada. On my visits, I have gotten different combos which are the Grillburger w/ cheese and for the first time, I got the FlameThrower, which is very good and tasty. Is it wrong to upgrade your soda to a shake when you're ordering a combo, even though it comes with a mini-sundae? I say "Of course not!" This was my first visit to this DQ since it had become a Grill & Chill, and I wanted to see if it was good an experience as I'd had at other Grill & Chills in the Northeast and Midwest. It was. The place was quite clean, and the booths, although wooden, were fairly comfortable. My meal came out quickly. The fries were crisper than they looked, though it feels like you don't get as many as you might at similar local competitors. The burger came with a decent amount of lettuce, a thick slice of tomato, lots of pickles, and ketchup which I should have asked them to hold. For the sundae, not being in the mood for chocolate syrup, I hoped that their peanut butter syrup wouldn't be too artificial or too sweet - okay, let's be realistic here; I was satisfied that it at least wasn't too sweet, even for the large amount, almost overflowing out of the cup. Any time I leave NYC and am in the middle of nowhere, I love hitting up Dairy Queen. Sure, we have one on 14th St. now, but it's still fun to go. Also, the dessert choices are pretty limited in places like Wappingers Falls. I came at the perfect time to try the just released Chips Ahoy Blizzard. It was well-made, passing the flip it upside down test, but it wasn't one of the better combos I've tried. The crunchy cookie pieces were too grainy and were not as good as some of the traditional toppings, like the reliable Reese's or Oreos. Still, Blizzards are always a very refreshing and satisfying dessert option. Though I don't see myself in Wappingers Falls any time soon, I would hit this up again if I were to come back. read more

Upon craving Dairy Queen's newest Blizzard - I had a hankering to try it out. Nestle Toll House cookies in ice cream sounds really good. We generally go to the Hyde Park DQ (because it is closer to us). but my brother felt the Wappingers Falls DQ was closer to where we were coming from after several Instacart shopping trips (as he's a Shopper) and so despite my best feelings of not stopping into Hyde Park, I was actually outvoted by my brothers' actions and was forced to come to this location instead. However, it was bone-chilling cold iniside. The seats were cold and i just felt too chilly. I had no extra layer of clothes so couldn't make myself warmer. It was like that during the whole time in that location. The order went fairly quickly and within four minutes of placing the order, i was walking to the table to begin eating. I bought that blizzard and a soda. However, i wasn't crazy about the taste. I knew i had had trouble with Blizzards in the past, but it had been quite some time so i thought it would've changed. My mom was with us. She had a stroke in mid-2020 and despite the non-complexity of the order - eating a kids meal and having trouble with the milk because it had a Parmalaat taste, and the seat not well fitting her (being a few pounds overweight), there was trouble. My brother ordered stuff to-go (despite him not finishing his chicken strips with honey bbq sauce at that point) and towards the end i ordered a burger myself, and despite him not finishing his banana split (the preparer in back never wore gloves but brother watched her closely wash her hands), i just couldn't finish my burger either. Maybe things that were left unsaid should be left unsaid here, because Dairy Queen is just as bad here as it is in Hyde Park. The parking lot and drive-through here are very weird. The drive-though lineup tends to stick out into the side road (Moran Ave), preventing access to/from the parking lot. The drive-thorugh window is in an awkward spot that you can't pull up close too, leading to customers trying to shout their order and staff getting it wrong, and slowing down the line. At the end of the drive-through line is an exit where you can only turn right, meaning you can only go South on Rt 9. You have about 150 feet to try to cross all 3 lanes to get to a left turn lane where you can make a u-turn and go North. On the other hand, if nobody is parked in the first parking spot in the lot, you might be able to make a tight turn and go back out to Moran to get to East Main and make a left onto Rt 9. I got the 4-piece chicken strips meal and a side of cheese curds. The chicken strips meal is a little weird; the strips are small and have very thick breading. However, the chicken appears to be real instead of reconstituted. The fries are not too bad but are a bit heavy; indicating that either the fry oil is not hot enough or that they are trying to push fries through the fryer too fast (capacity problem). The meal comes with a slice of toast; I am not sure why. it was of decent texture but was rather flavorless and I didn't know what to do with it. It had a small black spot that I thought was mold but in retrospect was probably just some fry cook's dirty thumbprint. The cheese curds were not of the quality you 'get at the county fair' but were a passable substitute; think salty mozzarella sticks and you've pretty much got the idea. Their downside was the price; $3.60 and you get a box about the size of three decks of playing cards. I came here for a cheap lunch (this was my first time at DQ; I had only ever seen it in TV commercials prior to now) but the above two items (only; I got no drink) came to $9.30 with tax. Overall, not a great experience, but with careful review of the menu, I might be able to put find something in the future that was less disappointing. Have not tried any of the drinks/desserts. I am writing this while eating the above-mentioned items and they all just got really cold, due to low initial temperature and too much absorbed grease. I suspect they either don't have the oil temperature set high enough, or they are pushing food through the fryer too fast so the oil can't recover to the proper temperature. Probably won't be back for a while. read more

Never have had any issues here - service is quick here and everything comes out hot and prepared 100% to the order..the prices can be a bit expensive, and the place is clean as is the restroom. Never realized Dairy Queen was so good. I had been going to Sonic for all my fast food dessert needs but Dairy Queen is really good. I had a smores oreo blizzard which was insane and amazing. The oreo royal blizzard was good but not as good as the oreo smores one. The chicken strip basket was a good deal and made for a nice lunch for me and my wife. I've gone to Dairy Queen many times, and they always giving me bad service, but this time was by far the worst. It started off by the girl Who was taking my order, she wasn't even paying attention to what I was ordering. Then I waited in line for 20 minutes, no joke 20 minutes, and then they finally come to the window and I only ordered one thing, a softserve chocolate ice cream in a medium cup, and they still got it wrong, so then it takes another five minutes for them to go back and get my order right, and when I was trying to tell them that I've been waiting in line for a very long time they close the window on me right in the middle of my sentence I don't even get to finish talking.
