Dairy Queen is kind of a big deal. At least that's what I thought for most of my life. When I was a little girl and we'd drive past it, I could just taste the yummy ice cream that I might get. Those fond memories still linger. That's why when my mom and I were driving past it today, we both looked at it, smiled at each other. In that moment no words were spoken or really even necessary. I made a U Turn and just like that... We were going into Dairy Queen. It was a humid, late spring day today, and I wasn't alone with the thought that today was an ice cream day. There were families with their excited little ones, teens and adults filling the lobby as we waited on line. The manager was training two new associates but service was efficient. It's been around since 1940. Did you know that if your server cannot hold your Blizzard upside down, you can get the next one free! They also post the caloric ranges on the menu to help you make better informed choices. With the vast assortment of mix-ins and toppings, it's a cold sweet treat that has been a happy staple in my life. As an adult I appreciate that I can continue to share these DQ moments with my mom. I honestly believe this location has the secret to the best non-advertised blizzards! Today I was saying I would like to have a banana split but I'm in my car and I can't eat it on the go. They suggested a banana split blizzard. I can't even tell you how great it is. What I can share with you is a tip that they shared with me. As you know, a banana split comes with vanilla ice cream strawberries, pineapples and hot fudge or chocolate syrup. If you translate that to a blizzard then the toppings are very important. If you get chocolate syrup when they blend it, your vanilla ice cream turns into chocolate ice cream; maybe you like that. But if you get hot fudge it stays as hot fudge and your vanilla ice cream stays vanilla. I happen to prefer that option. It's amazing! My son got the hot dog with chili, slaw, mustard & onions and he said the bun was warm and soft! He took a bite before I could take the picture, but that should tell you how good it was. Just not what I expected from a Dairy Queen. We were traveling from Virginia back to Greenville, SC area and my wife wanted to stop at a DQ for ice cream. I figured we could postpone lunch and I could eat a flame broiled Brazier Burger, or their Flame Thrower Stackburger - so I can wait....and wait...and finally we spot DQ. Driving a couple of miles off the exit we missed DQ at first because (drum roll) its in a strip mall! And it is small. And guess what, they serve mostly ice cream with maybe a microwaved chicken sandwich, or some similar items, though not many, for a meal. Nuh, uh..... Got the wife some ice cream and we moved on. Made it this far, another hour and a half ain't going to hurt. Don't stop here for a burger!! read more

Took my son here after school. Came in and there looked to be a lot of people sitting without any food or desserts. I soilder on and went to order. The order line went fast but let me tell you. The wait for 1 small cone and 1 small strawberry was amazingly long. There was a total of 4 workers and they were just all huddled up by the registered but only 1 person making the food. The young lady making the drink had a very pissed off look on her like she didn't want to be there. Everything came 1 by 1. It was so ineffective with 4 people working. So I have 2 sons, ones birthday is March 23, the others is March 24th. I usually go to the Dairy Queen in Locust and get 2 ice cream cakes, but I work near the one on Prosperity Church Rd in Charlotte. So. Friday when I got off work I went to the Prosperity Church location to get one cake. I picked one out of the freezer and had them write Happy Birthday on it I left there and went and got my son and his family and we went out to eat, taking the cake with us. We had the waitress put our ice cream cake in the freezer and she brought out about 10 mins before we were finished eating. When I went to pull the cake out of the bag, the ice cream had melted and was oozing out of the cake covet and all in the bag. We ended up having to turn the container upside down and serve it with a spoon. It was COMPLETELY melted and had very little cake in it at all. It was a DISASTER!!!! We ended up leaving about 50% of the cake that I paid $24.99 for on the table in the restaurant, coming all out on the table. Worst experience at Dairy Queen EVER!! read more

Everybody had the same idea to come here on Sunday after another ice cream shop was closed. So happy I did. There was honestly 25 people in front of me and some of the people had 5+ orders with them. However the staff was pleasant the entire time i was in line. I never saw a frown, no one was rude and they were quick! I was surprised that they were able to get as many people in and out as they did Whom ever the manager is, she needs to be promoted or given a raise because she was amazing and didn't seem flustered. read more

Not sure what happened to this DQ but a few months back I'm assuming it went through a ownership change. I have been frequenting this location on a weekly basis pretty much for over two years, and a few months back they went though a remodel and all the staff changed. Ice cream is still delicious but what is frustrating are the hours, or should I say lack thereof. I arrive to this DQ a FULL 30 minutes before their closing time, and I am told that they are closed. I don't understand and this has happened to me multiple times now. It's very simple, if you want to close at 9pm on the weekend, then change your hours to closing at 9pm. If you want to close at 8:30pm through the week, then change your hours to close at 8:30pm. Please stop posting your hours as one thing and then closing half an hour early, it's bad business. read more

The people working the counter are attentive and friendly. I wanted to lead with that because it is my top priority in a place I pop into and then pop out with my icecream. The place is sticky and needs a good cleaning. The area where the food is prepped is clean enough but the customer areas are dirty. They feel sticky and some look downright dingy. A real janitorial staff needs to come in and clean this place with a good once over. The parking ia frustrating. There is tons of available parking. What is frustrating is that PEOPLE CONSTANTLY PARK IN THE FIRE LANE. Spots are open ten feet away in the first parking spot but people are so awful they just park in the fire lane. read more

Went to get my favorite from Dairy Queen, which is the triple chocolate brownie. I asked for an extra scoop which is usually put on top of the brownie. What they did was put two scoops on each side and stuck the brownie in the middle and didn't even warm the brownie. The blizzard was mixed so much that it was watery. I'm not sure what happened to the old owners, but clearly the new owners need a training in how things are done. Just really ruined my special treat for all my hard work in the yard today. read more

Always end up going here after lunch to get dessert! This location is conveniently located right next to Subway and the Little Ceasars so once you are done stuffing your face at those 2 places, you can stuff it a little more with some ice cream. The ladies that work at this DQ location are very nice and friendly... they'll even work with you if you are on the fence about a flavor. I'm a big fan of the mini-blizzard sizes they just launched not too long ago. $2.50 and the blizzard isn't too big - you get your ice cream fix, maybe not an ice cream headache.... well I guess you can down it in one big bite and get one.... Figures today it was 32 degrees outside and we wanted ice cream after eating some spicy Thai food. read more

Masks are legally required, but neither the man nor the woman working were wearing a mask. The woman wasn't even wearing gloves. I don't want anyone breathing all over my food or touching machines then my food, COVID or not. I'd rather go to another location of DQ or Cold Stone/Baskin Robbins down the road. The staff at this location are very rude and obviously not very well trained. My co-workers ordered me a cake almost a week in advance to celebrate my birthday. First of all, the cake was not made when she got there. Tiffany the manager, which I'm sure thats not really her name, told her to come back in an hour. I don't understand how she would have it done in an hour when their policy is you have to place in at least two days in advance for it to be ready. Finally my co-worker goes back an hour later and picks up this cake that looks nothing like the one online. Mind you, the "manager" in no moment has admitted to making a mistake or taking fault for over looking our order. All we got was a 50% off the order. When we finally cut into the cake the thing is falling apart and simply messy. Completely disappointed with this pitiful cake! Now, I call back to let them know that this cake is nothing like the picture , doesn't really taste like an oreo cake, and just disappointing all around. Again the manager blames it on my coworker when in reality it was totally their fault. I told her this order was done on Wednesday, but she proceeds to correct me. According to her it was done on Friday. Regardless it was done more than 2 days in advance. As I am complaining about this ridiculous cake she cuts me off and asks do I want a refund??? Obviously this cake is not worth what we paid for it so I said yes. Now here we go again, third time driving out to this location, and I actually had a email confirmation proving that the order was placed on TUESDAY! As I walk in the store the manager quickly hides in the kitchen and sends out one of the employees. The girl obviously had no clue what to say and just hands me the refund and I also showed her the email confirmation and she is still saying no it was done on Friday when she clearly sees the email was sent on Tuesday. I expressed our dissatisfaction and she had nothing to say. As I walked out I told her to tell her manager that when a customer is dissatisfied with something she should be coming out to fix the issue not sending an employee out to fend for herself. With all the reviews I have read on this store the owner should seriously consider changing her staff or training them on good customer service because they obviously do not know what customer service is all about. Will not be back! We ordered a birthday cake for one of the employees three days in advance, because thats how many days they said you needed to give them for a specialty oreo cake, and when we went to pick it up they had no cake. The manager said that she could have one made within an hour, not sure how, but should have known it could not be done because the cake turned out beyond awful! Looked nothing like the picture and literally fell apart! The manager was beyond rude as well. Lets just say we demanded a full refund and will not be back. read more

Stopped here after dinner one evening for an ice cream cone for dessert. The ice cream cone was everything that you would expect from Dairy Queen. The ice cream is rich and creamy. However, every time that I visit this location to me it seems DIRTY. I think part of it is that it is in desperate need of a remodel. But, everything just has a grungy/sticky feeling to me. The plaza that this is located in recently underwent some upgrades with The Fresh Market moving into the plaza. Hopefully Dairy Queen will follow suite and put some money into updating this location. read more

Yet another trip the my local Dairy Queen at Prosperity Church Rd, Charlotte NC 28269 and as per usual they are out of ingredients for what I was looking forward to ordering. Having made the trip I figured why not I am craving my Reeses Outrageous Blizzard, so I will just have to make do without the Reeses Pieces. The young guy that was making my Blizzard finished and when he placed it on the counter he knocked it over and the lid busted off and it went on the counter and down the side. He mumbled an apology I think, which hey accidents happen but he grabs a cloth rag that was on the counter to wipe around the rim attempting to clean it and then presumes to hand the disaster of a treat to me. I politely ask if I may have another one instead so he turns to make it or so I thought. This is during The Covid-19 pandemic so I am staying away from the person ordering off to the right and therefore cannot see what this guy is doing. He finally hands it to me and it's melted and well below the rim when the original was flip over ready as they usually do to show it's good quality and above the rim. I am just ready to go at this point so I walk outside when I realize I have ice cream all over my hand from the side, just like the one that originally tipped over! I go back in and grab some napkins and ask him if he actually remade this and of course he said yes. I know this was the same messed up one I am positive but it was now busy in there and my wife was waiting outside so I just took the $5 loss and left. I am however done with this trash excuse of a Dairy Queen it would be different if it was an isolated incident but something is off every time! Now this is the most frustrating incident but they are always out of items and I will get home to my wife and daughter and the order will often be wrong. The teens working there always have a bad attitude like they hate their jobs. The female manager normally does a fine job making the orders and is by far the best but clearly needs help with inventory and keeping her staff in line because this DQ compared with other locations in the area is a joke. I truly hope it ends up with new management or for the existing staff to terminate all of those useless kids and hire some with better attitudes and work ethic that don't treat you like you are interrupting their day. Horrible customer service and they don't make things to spec. Ordered a large cone and they charged me for it but gave me a medium. I've been going to dairy queens since I was a kid and I'm 46 years old now. I normally order a medium or a large cone and I know the difference between the two. If I pay for a large I want a large. I told the young lady that the cone was medium not a large, she says well I've been working here for 9 years and that's how it is made. I've been going to this dairy queen since I have been in NC 12 years and the service has always been with a poor attitude. I asked for the owner's phone number and they wouldn't give it to me. I asked when would the owner be in the store and they said that she never comes into the store. I replied I'm sure she would want to know what is going on in her store and they replied oh she knows we already called her. Owners please stop leaving your businesses in the hands of teenagers, they don't care about your customers or your business.
