This is our favorite Dairy Queen. It is open late and it has sort of a party atmosphere since it's just down the street from the main downtown area, although we usually frequent the drive-thru. My wife likes the ice cream, mostly the blizzards. My very favorite item on the menu here is the supreme nachos. They are great and very good value for $3.99. The staff is always very pleasant and patient, which is key when trying to order from a drive-up window intercom from the car. Although I've never been in their kitchen, there is always a scent of "clean" that makes me feel good that they keep the area inside clean. Overall, if you are in East Dundee such as driving trough on RT 72, this place is worth stopping at - especially if you need a nacho snack! read more

I have very fond memories of DQ growing up back in Missouri. My family was a frequent visitor to the one closest to my house. What sticks out most in my mind though was their ice cream cakes. From about age 5 to about 14 I got one for every single birthday. So yeah, to say I was a fan would be putting it mildly. That location eventually closed however, and that was the end of the story until I moved to this area where the chain still has a presence. I recently moved to Algonquin, and the bike path I like to cycle on passes right through downtown East Dundee. This DQ started to become a handy pit stop since it's an old school location with a walk up window and outdoor seating so I do not need to lock up my bike. The menu here does not look to have changed one iota from back in the day. Still the same old burgers, baskets, and of course all of the yummy desserts. When I found out my Mother was coming up to visit me for Mother's Day this year I inquired if they still made ice cream cakes for special occasions. Sure enough, they do. I could not get my money out fast enough. You have to give them a few days notice on the cakes, but online they actually have a massive selection of designs and they will customize it for whatever your preferences are. My Mother got a huge kick out of the fact that I scored a DQ cake again after all these years. Oh, and as you might expect from the picture it was absolutely delicious to boot. I am sure to be a semi-regular guest at this location during the warmer months when I am biking, and the cakes are sure to be a secret weapon in my arsenal when I have special occasions. read more

I went on a ten-mile bike ride the other day and stopped at this Dairy Queen location for food and ice-cream. The area looks nice, there are so many places to sit and enjoy the weather. Our combo meals and blizzards came out very fast. The oreo cheesecake blizzard was amazing! There were a lot of other bike riders who stopped to order some ice cream, so the workers were prepared and put tape on the ground to make sure people in line stayed six feet apart. The precautions were appreciated. After biking such a long distance, this place was like the light at the end of the tunnel. Highly recommend. read more

Fiance and I stopped here to cool down with some soft-serve ice cream. We had been bike riding all day, and this was the perfect treat! Orders were both taken and filled quickly. They kindly refilled my water bottle with ice water for me. Lots and lots of people ride their bikes around this entire intersection, so keep an eye out! This is the Dairy Queen of my youth. Not much has changed either. Sure they have a drive through now and they've rerouted the entrance off of Main Street so as not to impede traffic and definitely safer, but after all these years, its still pretty much the same. Post game Little Leaguers celebrating their win. Families out for a stroll, couples sharing a little treat. The only thing missing are the crazy swarms of bugs in the summer. The ice cream is exactly the same. Except Dilly Bars are a little more than a dime these days. read more

Part of a cute neighborhood. I went on a Sunday evening, it was packed and it reminded me of a nice American town with kids enjoying ice cream with their family. I enjoyed a blizzard and an orange julius, it was the right touch of nostalgia for me to enjoy fully. The staff is working in a high volume, fast paced, customer service environment. What can you say about Dairy Queen? When it comes to their soft serve ice cream, it pretty much tastes the same no matter which location you go to. But when it comes to the atmosphere, this location is my personal fav. It reminds me of the days back home in St. Louis when we would go to Ted Drewes' or Fritzs' for frozen custard...by walking up to the window, placing your order and then sitting at the tables or benches or sidewalk or your car and enjoying your frozen custard while people watching. This is exactly how the DQ Dundee is...but substitute frozen custard with soft serve ice cream. Located near the Fox River, it's an outdoor place.
