I had the chicken tenders last night & I was very disappointed. Very little chicken & way too much batter. One was so dry I imagine it was a piece that was old as it was hard. Not many French fries. Their gravy isn't very good. It was like paste. They should put more black pepper in it. There tacos are not as good as they use to be. The meat is not very good. This place is terribly managed. I visited this evening, a Saturday night, and the line at the cash register was long, it was a while before anyone even showed up at the cash register to start taking orders. The staff could be heard raising their voice at each other all the way across the dinning room. The people behind us in line, 4 people, got their order before we did and all we ordered was one blizzard and one dipped cone. There were numbers from the days orders just sitting out all throughout the restaurant. The ice cream looked pitiful when it arrived, tasted good, but not looking like the picture. When it's the only ice cream shop open in town on a Saturday night, in a beach town, it needs solid management and supervision and a solid staff that knows how to work with one another to provide a high level of customer service. The decor is pitiful. Whole place needs a remodel. read more

I cannot believe what happened when I just went to Dairy Queen. When we arrived we went threw the drive threw and ordered 5 blizzards around 9 PM, but when we pulled up to get the blizzards they told us to wait so a few minutes go by and they tell us to pull up front. We wait then a lady comes up with are blizzards and they are all melted and disgusting they are all over the place so we go back in to tell them that and they give us some napkins to clean it up. We drive back home to find we got 2 of the wrong blizzards all of the blizzards were all vanilla at the bottom with nothing in them and one of them was double cupped because the first broke open and got styrofoam in it so the just decided to play it off like nothing happened. We went to the local Dairy Queen (rockport hwy 35) and it's always so consistent with the freshness of products and happy attitude of the entire crew. This is an ongoing thing at this place. I met Julia and you can tell they care about customer satisfaction. The tacos can rival any local taco joints. The shells are super crispy and the meat is flavorful and the salad is fresh and crisp. The turtle caramel pecan blizzard is mmmmmmmmmmm good. Keep up the great work y'all. read more

Absolutely disgraceful. Waited in the car lol ne for about 10 minutes without moving before deciding to go inside to order some ice cream. Upon entering the lobby, we noticed how dirty the facility was. There was food all over the floor and tables weren't cleaned. As we approached the registers, we noticed how disgusting it was where the food was being prepped. Milk and other dairy products were sitting on the counter, spilt ice cream all over the floor and so many other disgusting things. During all this, we still were never approached by an employee to take our order. after about 10 minutes, a gentleman finally decided to take our order but we just had to leave due to the horrific site. read more

We had eaten lunch and I really wanted a brownie sundae. You used to be able to find them at DQ, Sonic, and many local restaurants. I did an online search and could not find any. I checked the DQ menu and it looked like they might have something. I walked in and asked if they had anything and instead of saying, "no",the guy taking my order started thinking and asked the Team Leader and General Manager. ( Better customer service than you see in most places today...) I told them I just wanted a brownie with ice cream and hot fudge. The General Manager told him, "sell it". I only saw 3 workers working there on Sunday night. I could see that the workers were exhausted. We ordered 3 mini blizzard, and French fries. We got the blizzard first and had to wait for another 15+ mins for the french fries. Actually she got one of the blizzard wrong but we didn't bother to go change it. A large fries looked small. Visiting Rockport, stopped for ice cream. I thought the DQ in my hometown was slow but this one has it beat. Got in line at 8:43 pm, didn't get served until after 9:15. At one point I heard the employee on the speaker say to the car in front of me that she needed them to repeat their order because she forgot it. Not a good experience. We stopped by to buy my daughter a blizzard as a treat. There were only about 4 cars in front of us but it took 15 minutes to get to the window to pay. Unfortunately it's a typical drive thru in that we were hemmed in at a certain point so we could not leave or go park to step inside. We definitely should have went inside to purchase the blizzard. Not sure what took so long but we wanted to be on our way. When we got to the window it would pretty smooth after that but with one blizzard on the order not sure it could have been too complicated. To start with they have young girls working that have no idea what they have on the menu. You order something and don't get what you order. I wanted a chili dog, only chili and onions. NO MUSTARD OR CHEESE. I got chili, cheese, mustard, and 12 pieces of onions. There was NO clean tables anywhere. They said they didn't sell anything but footlong hotdogs. Then (when it's finally my turn at the window) the employee, without saying a single word, hands me the first part of my order and closes the drive thru window. Wow. No "hello!" or how about "hi there, so sorry for the wait!" Nope. They'll be none of that at this store. When she returns with the next/last part of my order she barks out my total, which was $32+change. I hand her two $20's, two $1's and the exact change in coins (so that I should get a $10 bill back) she walks over somewhere and brings back a little calculator, proceeds to 'do the math' then puts the cash in the register & pulls out a $10 bill. She opens the window, hands me the $10 and says "there you go". That's it. No "thanks"....nothing of the sort. Unfortunately, even my experiences inside the restaurant are no better. This store is seriously lacking in their customer service skills, and that includes the management. I can only assume that this location is a franchise and not a corporate store based on the customer service. I never order large blizzards here anymore, they can't seem to mix it past 2/3-3/4 down, the bottom is just plain soft serve. Dairy Queen Ice Cream is Dairy Queen Ice Cream wherever you go, that would be the only consistent element with the Rockport Dairy Queen. read more

Not on their Game. The owners of this location must be too busy counting the money rather than paying attention to its employees and store cleanliness. I stood at the counter for what seemed like a really long time (5 minutes) before I was acknowledged. As time passed other customers were behind me. The young and somewhat clueless staff seemed to be concentrating their service with drive thru customers, because well, dine in customers are taken for granted. Anyway, I ordered the fried shrimp salad for dine in. First off - they served it on a black plastic plate/bowl dish that was dirty !! with prints all over it. It wasnt one of those plastic never-before-used a thow away bowls it was a store owned dish. At first, I wasn't sure if it was just dishwater spots I was seeing or dirty.... gross - I didn't eat the lettuces touching the plate. The meal was bleh at best. They didn't even serve it with any kind of dressing nor did they offer me any. I threw it out. I went back to the counter go buy an ice cream cone for the road...and once again , no service, just busy bodies focusing on the main priority, the drive through. _EFF - them !!! Nothing spectacular, it's just DQ. I don't think anyone should go to DQ expecting "fast-food", I do agree it could come out much quicker than what it does. They could do a better job on the customer service end. My biggest pet peeve is the consistent inablilty to mix a proper blizzard. Maybe 2 out of 10 are mixed all the way down. You can get tacos on Monday, chicken basket on Tuesday, steak sandwich on Wednesday, chicken and dumplings on Thursday, a burger on Friday... all quick, hot, and reasonably priced.
