Arrived at Golden Chick at 1215 Texas 35 Business, Rockport, Texas 78382 at about 6:35 pm on Tuesday July 1, 2025. Braxton took our order! Extremely cordial young man who recognized me as a repeat Customer. My wife and I ordered two Fried Chicken orders to go. Braxton asked the Manager for approval for a Military discount! Wow! All the Chicken was great, fried crispy golden and the "Crunch" was superb! The Cole Slaw was good and the rolls were soft and tasty. Highly recommend! Go there! My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have over 65 years of Management Experience. I have a College Degree with a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. As a Culinary Trainer, I have trained personnel on how to provide superb cuisine and sales and customer service. My service at this location was absolutely horrible. My sister and I walked out before even placing an order. I usually am not the person to write reviews. AT ALL. However, my family sent me on a mission to get (what I was told to get) 12pc roasted tenders. I thought it sounded a little crazy cause grilled tenders aren't really a thing. After waiting in the SAME spot for almost 15 mins in the drive thru, I thought it would just be more convenient to go inside and order. She didn't have a name tag, but it was a short, grayed hair hispanic lady at the front. She is watching me read off this list on my phone, and proceeds to talk to me like the biggest idiot in the world cause "There is no such thing as roasted tenders." when literally all that needed to be said was "I'm sorry, but all we have is roasted chicken". I have been in the customer service industry for YEARS, and have never found the need to talk to people the way this lady talked to me tonight. Great food but bought a box of 20 tenders which came with 2 sides. We got slaw and mashed potatoes. So we ordered an extra mashed potatoes. We got home and the containers are only half filled. We call the store and the manager says they only get 2 "scoops"! Are you kidding me???? $62.00 and I get basically one container of mashed potatoes. Ordered online from this store, they gave my order to a DoorDash named Angelica. When I clearly asked for it to be picked up by me. Went and asked the manager who was super unprofessional when I asked what had happened? She stated she had a DoorDash pick it up, when I never provided an address how could they possibly know where I was. I asked if the could remake it or refunded me. She said she couldn't do neither. We have stopped and had lunch a few times. I think they have the best tasting chicken, fries and rolls I have ever eaten. The food comes out hot and delicious. We have always been full when we leave. The service staff is top notch. Always helpful. I would recommend this place for anyone. read more

Just had gizzards and you could tell they were leftover from lunch. There is no reason to serve dried up gizzards. The restaurant did not have salt either.. H-E-B is two block away , go buy some disposable salt shakers! Next time I will ask for fresh gizzards, if there is a next time.... Meh read more

Fast service but now I know why. Ordered six chicken tenders. Got four and a half TINY SKINNY tenders that were mostly crust. Canned green beans (nothing like the picture). Okra was good. Hard roll. And NO GRAVY! Guess we shouldn't have gotten it to go. Best part of the meal was our own home grown tomato. read more

We were able to eat a 10 piece half and half dark chicken. We also ordered the big and golden chicken sandwich. The chicken was nice and crispy. It was not greasy. The chicken sandwich was good and crunchy: We had the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The portions were great. We will definitely be ordering again. read more

It has been months since I bought anything from this restaurant, because they didn't get my order right and the catfish order I bought previously was a joke. Two pieces that each were the size of a chicken finger. They messed my order today. I ordered spicy chicken fingers-come sprinkled with spicy powder. Did not receive spicy chicken fingers. We sat at the speaker until we finally decided that we'd pull up to the window and ask if the speaker was broken. It was 9:35 pm and the sign said they close at 10 pm. No one bothered to come to the window, they were all too busy mopping and cleaning - I'm guessing in anticipation of getting the place closed down. We sat there trying to get someone's attention and we were completely ignored, even if someone glanced at us they kept on cleaning. Not sure how many people have experienced this lousy customer service but I'm sure I won't subject myself to it anymore. read more

Food was not great. None of the soda machines were working but they never put a sign. Every one kept using and having to dump out drinks causing the drip tray to overflow. They charged a couple $3.00 extra for a bottle of water when there was no drinks available. Restaurant was dirty. The worker got a call and just dropped his broom on the floor. You could tell he didn't want to be there. They did have unsweet tea but were out of regular sugar. Very disappointing visit. read more

This is probably the worst chicken I have eaten in years. I stopped by the Golden Chick around 4:30 on a Saturday. I ordered a 6 piece tender meal with gravy and mashed potatoes. The chicken must have been sitting in the warmer for hours. It was not even hot and was very dried out. The gravy was like water, I'm not even kidding -maybe thinner than water. It tasted like water with pepper in it . The Roll was ok and the mashed potatoes were ok. However I went to eat chicken not mashed potatoes and a roll. What a shame . oh yes the service was ok although at the window three young employees pretty much chatted and ignored me as they processed my credit card and handed me my food . read more

Experience was not great just walking through the door. All of the employees were standing around on their phone. I went up to the counter and no one even made eye contact with me. One employee comes from the back and just walks right passed me and starts drinking out of a open cup. He then puts the drink down and walks to the back again (not even acknowledging me). He finally comes out and asked my order. The employees just looked like their job was miserable. First impression is everything. read more

We needed a very large order of chicken for a family reunion in the area, and the manager at this store was so accommodating! We placed the order 48 hours in advance and the chicken was ready at 10:30 am on a Saturday morning as promised! It was a hit at the reunion, with many asking where it came from, it's delicious! So apparently they close at 9:45 not 10:00. We pulled in at 9:45 to find a line with 3 cars. We waited for about 15 minutes. I called at 10:01 and explained the situation. So i came threw the drive thru friday night.I took a minute to look over the menu as it was our first time here. When i was ready i said hello and the lady working drive thru was very sarcastic and rude from the beginning. When i asked to speak to the manager she said with a attitude i am the manager and refused to serve me. That completely blew my mind that a so called manager would treat a paying customer that way. This place absolutely sucks WORST RESTAURANT IN ROCKPORT! Staff doesn't care because management doesn't care which in turn leads me to believe corporate doesn't care because good work ethic is lead by example and in my honest opinion it starts at the TOP! The rockport location should be shut down being ran the way it is. Numerous occasions we have attempted to get food and it's either soaked in grease all day, re fried 15 times to get to temp, or the staff claims we have no chicken so why open? 745pm last night went to order bone in chicken only to be told they have no chicken yet again, at which time the staff dispersed from there pow wow and started acting busy. Accepting the fact that they didn't have nor willing to make the chicken i ordered tenders. I then asked if they were fresh the lady responded with fresh enough. No okra,fries, and other sides either. Why have a menu so big if they can't provide what's on its. If you want to save money so bad corporate reduce the menu to chicken tenders only that way you don't have such a big sign to light up! Usually the shit rolls down it but in this case it rolls up. If corporate doesn't care then why should the staff. And before you say you do care, there's quite a few negative reviews on the same issues. But luckily enough they have all been corrected with the same BS response and with absolutely 0 change in the business good job on driving y'all's business to the ground! read more
