For a small town, that prides itself on fresh seafood, Stevie Lee's knocked it out of the park with their BBQ. We walked in on the recommendation of a business friend right at lunch time and they were busy. But not too busy to help us make great choices about our meal. We sampled the brisket, ribs, and in house sausage. All of it was great but we settled on the brisket and the ribs. They have two sauces to choose from and both are very tasty with the one for pork being a little spicier than the beef sauce. They have some sides and we only tried the coleslaw which was also excellent. The restaurant is small but clean and was packed by the time we left and we knew why by the great taste of everything. The only problem with this review is we ate everything so quickly I didn't get any pictures. Please check them out the next time you are in Rockport and hungry for Barbecue. read more

I have been in Texas for 3 weeks now and we have been trying the best BBQ spots around Dallas as much as I can. This place was fine, not great, not nearly as good as places I have been to recently, but it was close to where we were staying - so we gave it a whirl. We got the brisket sandwich (added potato salad) and the baked potato served with corn, cheese and pulled pork - That thing was MASSIVE, served with coleslaw and a piece of garlic toast. The good news - I really liked the potato salad and the coleslaw. The pork was better to me than the brisket meat. I wish the corn had been fresh but it was canned or something - and when we went to pack up leftovers, there was a lot of water on the bottom of the plate that I suspect came from non-drained corn. read more

We go when visiting my parents for a Texas Cinnamon Roll. One fed 5 of us. They are balanced and not too sweet with gooey cinnamon. Best when hot and fresh. We were hungry and forgot to take a picture but the ones on line are accurate. The BBQ is also good you just have to plan around when they are open. Just got a take home Texas BBQ SLAM which is 3-meats and a side of red potato salad. Plus Crème Brûlée freshly roasted coffee beans and raw honey from Victoria Texas. Small towns can have sweet benefits! The raw honey is SO THIN that it have never held tight naturally in the honeycomb and I believe it's been diluted. I cannot recommend this product. read more

I've always driven by Stevie Lew's and finally decided to give it a try. I should've kept driving... Ordered a half pound of MOIST brisket, half pound sausage, and half pound of ribs. I specifically emphasized the moist brisket by adding, "don't trim that fat off". If this was their moist brisket, I'd hate to try the lean. Let me just sum up this review. Those two stars are for the polite staff, short time spent in the drive thru. The ribs, sausage, and dry "moist" brisket weren't good. I really wanted to like this place because it's right in front of our condo, and would've given me an easy go to place for bbq. Sadly, next time I'll just keep driving. read more

How can you not love a bbq shack in a trailer park. The ambience is South TX coastal. Authentic! The BBQ lives up to the setting. The "top cut" brisket is fantastic. This place is actually worth coming from Austin Tx just to visit. Matt took over the biz from his father Stevie Lew - and I know his dad would be proud. Runs this with his wife as a family business. I've just done a taste test of 3 Kansas City bbq places, and his bbq beats those. His sauces even compete with Kansas City I drive through Lockhart when I come to Rockport, so I always sample the famous Kruetz or Blacks, and Stevie's Bbq is right up there!! This place is a slice of heaven! Seriously, this place is amazing. They've built up a little BBQ kingdom here, and Stevie is the king. The BBQ joint is on this little compound, located right off the highway, and a stone's throw from Fulton Beach. When you pull in, there's a RV park behind the BBQ joint that you must pull through to pick up your order. It loops around the restaurant, and a pool. Many of the RVs look like they're snowbirds who just wanna live next to a BBQ joint. I'm green with envy. Also on the premises, you'll find a coffee joint, with lots of single origin or blends named after fun things. The BBQ was delicious! I got a pulled pork sandwich, which was exceptional. It was piled high, served with onions. We also got some brisket, which also was moist and tender. We both opted for jambalaya for the side, which was a wise choice. It was flavorful and full of sausage. I haven't tried camping in the RV park yet, but I can imagine that it's a popular place, since I'd just wanna drink their coffee and eat their BBQ all day by the pool. read more

I grew up in the South but now live up North near Buffalo, NY. You can't get good BBQ where I live. So I was excited to try Stevie Lew's on vacation. It is a family owned business that takes great pride in their food and family. The BBQ was the best I've ever had! My daughter and I had the Carolina sandwich. My son had the ribs. Tender and moist. The sauce was amazing. Not too runny, tangy but sweet with a little smokey flavor. The family atmosphere is good for kids. Customer service was excellent. Cleanest restaurant I've ever been in too. I can't say enough about this place. If I could give it 10 stars I would. My only regret is we tried it the last day of our vacation. Otherwise i would have been there every day! read more
