I love Daiso so much! I'm glad this place opened up closer to me in the Valley when it did over a year ago or something like that! This place is a Japanese dollar store, where the prices of products generally range from $1-1.50 unless labeled otherwise. The store's very clean, it's very cute (everything's pink!), and organized to my standards. There's plenty of useful household items from towels, to trash cans, to jars, organizers, bathroom cleaners, etc. It doesn't stop there! There's plenty of arts and craft supplies, school supplies, beauty items (skin care, make up, nail products, etc.) Socks and underwear can also be bought here as well! The Asian snacks, candy, and drinks are also worth checking out. Brings back all my childhood memories! Every aisle in this store is worth checking out, every shelf is worth checking out! I've found things for cheaper than getting supplies at Staples for arts and crafts, and I love coming here mainly to check out and buy the skincare and make up products. I think it's so convenient that there's face masks (there's also hand and foot masks) I can try for cheap, there's eyelashes I love buying to build my eyelash collection. Everytime I come here, I MUST check out the make up aisle! I recommend that beauty product lovers do too, I mean what do you have to lose?! Almost all items are priced at $1.50! I have no complaints about the service here. The store is kept pretty tidy and organized. You have to consider that a lot of people go in and out of this store so the line at the cashier can get hectic, but I don't mind waiting because there's also a lot of extra stuff you can look at and even buy when waiting in line! It is ok. The J food section could be bigger. The aisles are way too small. With these families with the big-ass kids taking up so much space, it's impossible to make it around the store. City proper - before it opened the next nearest one was in Monterey Park (which has about the same sq. ft.) but this one has an easier parking situation. I went here to get goggles for swimming. It turns out that it was my first time in there today and I found some pretty cool stuff. I think that the store was pretty fascinating. I liked it because I have never seen stuff from Japan. Daiso is always a good place to turn to when looking for decent quality items at a low price. They don't necessarily have everything, but they've got items ranging from snacks to stationary to home goods. Even bought a Tennis Racket there for 5 bucks. Unless specifically marked everything is $1.50. Daiso is originally from Japan as a 100yen shop, which at a 1to1 conversion makes it the equivalent to a dollar store, but with import fees and such they've marked up the products to a buckfifty, still making the items they carry a bargain. At that price you can't expect the thing you buy to last forever, but at the items are of a fairly decent quality. Fair warning, because of the budget friendly price there are no refunds or exchanges, so make sure to give the item a good once-over to make sure there aren't dings before you buy. Also, they've got a rotating stock on lots of items based off the season so the store always looks like it's shifting. The inventory at the Northridge location isn't as broad as some others located in the OC or downtown as well. Negatives aside, my friends and I are there so much we practically live at Daiso. read more

Crappy customer service! I'm giving a 2 star because I'm trying to be nice and I love daiso as a company. I REALLY prefer the Korea town location but anyway. I have not written a review for this location because I like to give chances and not assume the worst on only a couple times in visiting. However, Now that it has been a couple of years since I started shopping at this location I can say with all sincerity that they pick and choose who they provide excellent customer service to. Very inconsistent. While the girls at the front smile and ask the customers before me how their day was going. When my turn came they didn't ask and barely made eye contact with me. Then ended with a bit of an attitude thrown around from all of us. I take full responsibility for my attitude as I was a bit frustrated at the girls response. I suppose I should explain...First there was a couple who (were customers therefore nothing to do with actual customer service yet) stood behind my daughter then squeeze by together in the already narrow isle. They did not say excuse me or anything and just kind of pushed my daughter out of the way. She's 13 no problem. The biggest thing is they didn't say excuse me and acted like we are in the way. I said "excuse you or me I guess." Loud enough for them to hear." The guy turns to me very hostile and says over and over "what did we do?! What did we do!?" As I try to explain what they did he just kept repeating himself in order to be louder and dismiss me. I said "ok then you have a blessed day" As I get up to the register to pay for my things the same couple was just about to leave paying for theirs. I said "you two have a nice day now" they didn't even look over. I wasn't surprised. Onto the cashier... she noticed all that go down did not ask me how my day was not even a smile. I asked her how her day was. And she asked if I wanted a bag. She let me know a bowl I was purchasing was $3 and asked if that was ok. She spoke quickly and still wouldn't look at me. (I understand difference in culture. I also understand avoidance and body language and hers was very don't look at her just get her out of here.) I told her that I do my best to look and make sure there is a price tag on there for her. Without looking at me and before I could finish my sentence she said "well most people don't". I was like "ok?? But I try to make sure and I'm not most people so wow? How's your day going?" She didn't say anything. I noticed lipstick on her teeth and proceeded to tell her and again before I could finish my sentence she said "I know" like a little brat. I was trying to be nice. I appreciate people who tell me those things. I was a little shocked at her answer so I just smiled and showed how shocked i was with a few wows lol. I had my 13 year old daughter with me and have no time scolding another 13 year old attitude when she should be providing consistent excellent customer service to ALL customers. I don't care what color I am or my hair is or what my face looks like. Its called common curtesy please help your staff look into customer service training. It's our responsibility to help raise these kids up to naturally respect others. As well as set healthy boundaries. We need to learn how to communicate and treat people consistently. Consumers are in YOUR stores CHOOSING to spending their hard earned money at YOUR location. Consumers in your store IS your paycheck stop being a brat. (End rant) read more

Let me start off by saying I've been here several times because I recently moved to the area and its honestly saving me a lot of money to come here and buy things I need for my Apartment and the things they sell are super cute but what I witnessed or more like overheard the last time I was here, completely disgusted me and for that I won't be coming back. I came to the store recently and I was looking for a plastic bowl for when I bake and I was standing right by the door where I guess the employees go back to and I overheard some girl talking smack about some customer who I guess asked her a "really dumb question" according to her, she said something along the lines like "why do customers have to ask such stupid fucking questions, if they read the label they would know what the product was." and then she came out and it was some girl with short hair in a ponytail and glasses. When she came out her face looked surprised to see me like I guess she probably realized I heard her through the revolving door. I'm sorry but I'm NOT Japanese and I can't read whatever is in your language! Its sad to see the lack of Customer service training these employees are probably getting and I understand that working in Retail could be a pain in the ass because when I was a teenager I worked several retail jobs but thats no reason to disrespect customers who are the ones who keep your business alive. Consider evaluating your employees because of them you'll begin to lose customers like me. read more

the AC here has been broken for YEARS! as a frequent customer (i came here atleast 3 times a week), i am dissapointed. especially during the summer, it gets really hot in the store. i go into stores in the hot weather hoping i could browse and purchase items in the nice air conditioned breeze, but thats IMPOSSIBLE at this location! i would have to stick my head into the drink refridgerator to get a breath of fresh air, and i would even see the employees doing so as well. i think that HR should fix that, because not only are the customers suffering, but the employees are suffering as well. this is an unhealthy working environment! i feel bad for the people who work here. half the time, i see them sweating balls, or using their fan products to cool themselves off. IN ADDITION: theyve raised their prices on so many of the food items! their hello panda used to be $1, but its now $1.50. many of their candy bars are more than $2, like isnt this supposed to be a discounted $1.50 store? i can get most of their food items for cheaper at galleria market or even ralphs! as an asian person, this is just unacceptable and annoying. if i wanted to buy a candy bar for $4, i would go the the 99 cent store and buy 12 kit cats for a dollar. i am dissapointed, i will never shop from this location again. also, props to the workers for enduring that horrible working environment. read more

I love Daiso, been to many of them in California, in Korea and even in Japan. This store is addictive, there's no way you can enter one of these stores and walk out empty handed. Daiso in Woodland Hills is a fairly good size one, it's not tiny like some, but it's not one of their largest ones either. I like the location because it's in an outside mall with a ton of parking and it's never over crowded. They seem to be fairly well stocked, with new items in often. The only negatives would be that they seemed under staffed, and not very friendly. read more

So, do we really need another $.99 type store? If it's this one, yes!! This store is medium sized and filled with an amazingly large variety of items. The prices here are typically $1.50 each, and the increase in quality and value is well worth the extra quarters. This store always seems well staffed with restocking staff. Need a scarf, sushi form, plastic containers, office supplies, so much to choose from. There is a no return policy, which I actually consider a plus. No time spent returning items and no arguing. Sometimes checkout takes a while, since all customers exit the store, single file past the registers. Great items, great staff, great shopping experience. read more

If there is a rate lower that 1 star I will check it, I am not going to deny that Daiso Japan located in 19500 Plummer St., Northridge, CA 91324 website www.daisojapan.com has some item for cheap prices which is good and ok. But what happened with me on 12/23/2018 at 3:32 PM was shameful, I walked into the store about 3:00 PM and I picked a cell phone stand for $1.50, I prepared cash money in my hand (one dollar bill and 75 cents) cause I know it will cost me more than $1.50, when I came to the cashier cash register a lady by the name of Beatriz checked the item and told me the charge is $1.64 - so I put the dollar bill on the cashier counter and start to counting the 64 cents for her, after I put the 64 cents on the counter she strongly claimed that she didn't get the dollar - I was so frustrated and confuse because I was dead sure that I put the dollar bill first on the counter (the money was in my hand already) - so I had to pull out my wallet again and gave her another dollar bill - I looked around everywhere but that first dollar disappeared - when I left the store I was so disappointed not because I lost a dollar (sometimes I lose $10.00 buying lottery ticket), but I was disappointed because of Beatriz behavior - so I went back to the store looking for her after about 10 minutes later because I hated to be played with as a fool - she was not on the cashier register, I talked to another associate (a young man register) and told him I need to see that lady who was there 10 minutes ago cause she over charged me for that phone stand, he replied "ok I will go get her from the backroom/storage area), he disappeared for at least 5 minutes and came back telling that she left the store recently - knowing that such a very small store with at the most 5 -6 employees do not take someone 5 minutes to find his associate plus they all know who is in and who is out usually they inform each other that he/she is leaving, so most likely she was hiding back there and they discussed for few minutes and told him go say that she left - I aske that young man about her name he said Beatriz and her supervisor is Marian. As I said above I don't care much about the dollar that I lost but about the ethics - and I also know that some individual suffer from that mental disease of stealing even for small money or small items. So I pledge the supervisor of the store (Marian if that really the real name of her) to investigate that lady Beatriz and keep an eye on her because by the end of the day it's all going against the credibility of the store. I went to this location prior to writing this review and purchased 3 products they were very inexpensive which is great, although not everything is worth your buck. 1 a sunshade and it states it's standard size (my car is standard) it's too big.
