Wow, 2 weeks after opening and still have to wait 30+ min. to get in? Most of the stuff is like a picked over garage sale. I spent about 10 min. inside the store after patiently waiting and didn't see anything that I HAD to have among the mostly empty shelves. Funny as I was exiting empty-handed, I saw several shoppers realizing the same with them simply dropping their handcarts with merchandise on the floor before walking out. Probably not a look the store is happy about. The mainland Daiso's are so much better. Maybe HI store needs time to find itself? First of all, since this is Hawaii's first Daiso I'm not surprised that it's always pretty busy. Daiso is located next to Ben Franklin and near Chuck E Cheese in Pearl City. The parking lot can get busy. The first time I went we waited about 7-10 min to get into the store. And the 2nd time I went I waited about 2 min to get in. There were some aisles that were pretty wiped out of inventory, like the beauty section. Everything in Daiso is $1.50 unless it's marked otherwise. They have things from fake leis, gardening supplies, collars for cats/dogs, plastic storage containers, kitchen supplies, bathroom suplies, and Japanese and American snacks (which are more that $1.50). Daiso has cute and functional stuff that you never knew you needed until you see it lol. I think Hawaii just misses having a dollar store, I sure do. I'm glad Daiso came to Hawaii ! But you can't compare to the Daiso's in Japan that are much bigger and multiple stories. The workers seem to be very pleasant and helpful even when it's busy. I did ask them when they are getting new shipments and the girl said they pretty much get them everyday and the restock but people just keep buying stuff. I also asked if they have those small, pocket sized kawai calendars but the worker said right now they don't but in the future they may carry it. I really hope so! I will definitely be back to see what other things they will have in stock and start carrying. This Japanese store makes the "Everything is a Dollar" store look shabby! Most of the goods they carry at Daiso are not of interest to me, but they have storage containers in smaller sizes that can be quite handy. The sales people are always very helpful and will walk you over to the correct aisle. read more

I don't know what all they excitement is about. It's a dollar store ... except in this case $1.50. Most things here are $1.50 unless otherwise marked. I just got back from a trip to Japan. They have pretty much the same stuff as Daiso in Japan, only marked up 50 cents. Daiso Japan price: $1.00. Daiso Hawaii price: $1.50. I understand prices are higher in Hawaii. Needless to say, it's not quality stuff. Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for". I'l give it one month before the hype dies down and it's just another dollar store. read more

Standing in a long line to get into the Daisho store was Crazzzaaayyyy! Finally got in there & it was nothing like the Daisho store they have in Japan. AT ALL! I was so excited that Daiso was opening up in Hawaii. First few weeks of opening, crazy long lines! I went the 3rd week of opening and waited about 20 minutes! I guess I went on a good day because some of my friends said they waited for like 45 minutes to 1 hour. I thought I was lucky that we only waited 20 minutes but I guess it was a quick wait because the store was pretty much empty. A lot of the shelves were empty! So bummed. Yes, I definitely need a uniquely shaped sponge, another type of hair brush, and erasers shaped like food. I could spend a good hour in this store walking down every aisle just to see what I don't need to buy. Daiso is the closest thing to a dollar store. Organizing your drawers or pantry? Just happened to be at pearl city shopping center and thought I'd stop by Daiso to look for storage containers. After finding a few that I wanted I decided to check out the rest of the store. I came across a sun visor for automobiles and decided to buy the shorter of the two sizes they had. After paying for the items I proceeded to my car and was happy with finding the sun visor, not at all thinking it might not fit. Sadly it did not. It was longer than the old one I was gonna change it out for. I immediately walked back to Daiso to return it but was bluntly informed by the cashier that processed the transaction that "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" and "NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES ACCEPTED." I tried to reason with her but she kept repeating the same thing... We "DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS" and "ALL SALES ARE FINAL." This is only my second visit to Daiso and I am never going back again. I do not agree with their policy. The visor was in my possession literally for only five minutes or so and I was returning it in its original wrapped condition. I could not understand why they couldn't and wouldn't accept it back. I get that they have to think about their bottom line. But in doing so they forgot about me. Their customer. It was only $4.00. I'm so happy we finally have a Daiso open in Hawaii! Why did it take so long! I went to Daiso for the first time when they've been open for over a month and I wasn't surprised that it was still busy. The line wasn't too bad it went passed Ezogiku but it went by pretty quick. I bought a few things and only spent $23. I wasn't expecting to buy anything but everything is $1.50 and up, I was tempted! And have no regrets lol. Most stuff were sold out so I think I went on a day they haven't fully restocked. No downsides really. If you like organizing or cute Japanese home stuff then Daiso is your heaven on earth lol. The checkout line had the same wait time as the line to get in but you pass these snacks and drinks so it's not too bad lol. Staff is friendly and quick! I went to Daiso for the first time last week since it seemed like the line has died down a bit. I waited in line for maybe about 10 mins? Not bad. Anyways, when I got inside. I notice the shelves were a bit empty. I get it, this store right now is high on demand since their pretty new. But it would have been cool if I could find some cute stuff and maybe a bit more than I expected. I went to the one in California and let me tell you, it's a lot more bigger and they have TONS of stuff. I also feel this is a bad location to open a Daiso. Wish it was just as exciting as the ones in the mainland. Everything in the store is pretty much $1.50 unless stated otherwise. I ended up with only 2-3 items and my boyfriend got some shoe stuff. Don't expect to find "amazing" stuff for a while. Most are pretty useless to me. And you'll feel more obligated to buy something since you had already stood in that line. Overall, I guess it was alright. I'll try and come again in maybe a few months. Hopefully by then the shelves are a lot more stocked and more cute things would come in. Ugh! Google says 8pm closing time but when I arrived, the small sign says 7pm closing call. I got there at 7:40pm. I'm so disappointed that I followed the rules to arrive before closing and they won't let us in. Even for 20 mins. So as we all know, the line at Daiso has yet to cease... I'm a little confused why there's a line at times because majority of the store is empty :( I came on opening day so I know what the fully stocked store looks like. One of my favorite items is the eco friendly bags; they're absolutely cute and are nice freebies to give to friends and family! However, the line still existed even after a month and a half from the opening day. What's worse is that the store was practically running bare. I was told to check back around March to see if they restocked on eco bags, but I'm a little concerned if it's even worth my time stopping by. It seems the turn around time to restock is not keeping up with the demand. Overall, I don't think I'll be in a rush to come back until summertime when I need some more stationery and school supplies. Hopefully they're fully loaded and ready for crunch time, but by then I assume many will have given up. Haha. Let's see how their second location handles the crowd! read more

Nothing fabulous, honestly everything is cheap. Very cheaply items that look like it won't last long probably break the same day. The rubber bands for your hair was $1.50 with only 3 rubber bands so I was like oh hell no what a rip off. The lashes for girls was very cheap but honestly to me cause I wear all good stuff that didn't catch my eye one bit cause the quality of it looked cheaply made too. Maybe the dishes would be the best bet especially when your a single person living on your own on a budget. I always wondered why the line was so long and here me thinking "Oh must have good ingredients" LOL. I rather buy food things then these cheap items. Even months after its grand opening, you still must stand in line to get in, only to be left scavenging through emptyish shelves. I'm sure staff is doing their best to restock given the high demand, but it's still kind of meh to me. This Daiso location isn't too great compared to ones on the mainland or Japan but I'm still happy we have one. Just disappointed at the selection of merchandise. Ahhh so, we got Daiso! I braved the crowds on Friday two days after the grand opening at 3 PM. There was a winding line in front of Ben Franklin. I waited probably 30 minutes before I made it inside the store. A worker passed out bottled water to the people standing right by the store's windows as the blazing afternoon sun toasted our skin. Inside, people waited along the perimeter of the store to get to the cashier. Going up and and down every aisle was a challenge since the people waiting in line for checkout congested the end where you can turn into the next aisle. Even though it was crowded, customers didn't lose their cool. Employees answered customers' questions and were restocking items. While I waited in line for checkout, my husband who just got off of work made it into the store and had enough time to look around and get the items he wanted before he joined me in line to check out. What was really helpful prior to shopping here was following Daiso Hawaii's social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. They posted what the line looked like and possible wait times (like Disneyland!). When I saw the wait time was 30 minutes, I figured that was a good time to go. Also, they posted about closing the line one hour before the store closes so I knew not to even try to go in the evening. Sadly, they also posted that they ran out of their Daiso Hawaiian print reusable bags so I knew to bring my own bags. At checkout they did offer to sell me their unbranded bags that I saw inside the store, but I declined. Compared to the other Daiso stores I went to in California, the first Hawaii store didn't have as much cute stationery items but I still found lots of other cute and useful things to buy for Christmas gifts for coworkers, stuff for my kitchen, my classroom, and my husband's office. I'm definitely going to shop here again, especially when they get their branded reusable bags in stock. read more

This is the first location of Daiso in Hawaii. It is located in the Pearl City Shopping Center, which is convenient since there is plenty of parking. There are a lot of people here every time I go. Lots of stuff to find that may fit your need and the price is right. Most things are at $1.50, cheaper than the US chain stores. And most things here are made in Japan, which you know the quality is good. read more
