Daisy Dukes has a great concept, attractive location, decent location, and some of the best hot sauce I have ever had. All those things combined couldn't overcome the mediocre food and slow service I experienced. If I were one of the other randos who have reviewed this place, that would probably be enough of a review. I am highly suspicious of their legitimacy so I will make sure and be a little more descriptive. I am a breakfast loving lunatic. I prefer my breakfast joints to be more traditional than modern fancy pants. Daisy Dukes is slightly more fancy pants that places I normally frequent, which is odd considering it's named after super short jorts, but it is causal enough that you don't need to dress up or anything. The breakfast menu is kind of all over the place. There are a few omelets, but no traditional western omelet. To me, it seems that offering lunch and breakfast at the same time makes both meals suffer. I hate brunch which could make me biased, but I was hopeful for more traditional breakfast offerings. If you are more of a fancy breakfast person you will probably not be bothered by this fact. I ultimately decided on their Cajun omelet which promised hot sausage, cheddar, onions, tomatoes, paprika, pepper, and parsley. It contained all of those things, but had issues. The first was that it was very dry. I'm not sure if this was an issue with it being overcooked or something else, but omelets should be a little more moist. The next issue was the lack of flavor. When I think Cajun, I think of flavor. It may be ok to call something Cajun and sell it to tourists in the FQ with their lack of LA taste buds, but here it is false advertisement. I drenched in hot sauce which improved it considerably. Speaking of hot sauce, this is an area where DD shines. Their house hot sauce is a blend of Tabasco peppers and Habaneros. It is phenomenal. If you know anything about me you know I love hot sauce on almost everything. Their hot sauce is really stellar. If the issues I listed about my omelet were the only ones I experienced, this would probably be a three start review. Unfortunately the service was also pretty awful. The server was friendly, but she seemed far too busy to serve us effectively. Ordering took far too long as did getting drinks, refills, etc. When the food was delivered it came out at different times which seemed odd since the restaurant didn't appear that busy. There was a car show going on outside when I ate here so I am not sure if that is what made the service suffer. I'd estimate half of the tables were open when I sat down, but maybe there was something else going on I didn't see. But service really was not good. Would I go here again? Maybe. I say that because I do like supporting local breakfast joints. Based on this experience will it be my go-to spot? Negative. read more

A great little brunch spot. I was in Hammond, La looking for a breakfast/brunch that also had ALCOHOL, and there were none in Hammond. So we drove to Covington, since I'd have to come back to Hammond. They were hosting a car show, in the parking lot, this had no impact on the dining room. I chose the French Toast and a side of sausage patties. It was very good French toast! The sausage patties, in my opinion needed some spicy seasoning. I try really had no complaints! I believe a manager come by to chat with us, I did observe him talking to other tables. He was just like me, having real conversations with guests, that want to talk. The server was great! For the past 3 years this location has been inconsistent. It changed hands of owners and the food went down hill, hash browns were so greasy and soggy. They don't consistently have the berry oatmeal. Their omelets and pancakes are the only thing that are consistent. I ordered the berry oatmeal and they delivered the berry parfait. Then stood there and argued that it was the same. So they went to correct it and boiled oats and served it to me soupy. The reality is that they didn't have the oatmeal chilled and tried to throw me off. Such a bad experience and the place is a lost cause at this point. If you want a great breakfast head to LaLous or Fat Spoon. As much as we love to visit local places this was a huge disappointment. I ordered the avocado toast and my bread was not toasted and the avocado was a tasteless spread with chunky tomato and cucumber. The best part was the egg. Terrible service. First the hostess was completely out of it. I swear she was high...not on the good stuff. Before we could sit she asked what we want to drink. We both answer with water and coffee. She brought back 1 water and 1 coffee and acted confused when we asked for another. We sat at the table for 20 min before anyone else came to us. Someone else walks up to us and just says, "what do you want to eat?" There were tons of servers but no one checked on us. We waited for 45 min for food. Fast forward to Father's Day. Got there an hour before close. Lots of servers mulling around. The home made 'V-8' juice tasted like watery celery juice. The poor Chef had to bring food out. It had sat in the lights for awhile as was evidenced by the Seafood Omelet. Somehow was charged two times by two different girls. They corrected it after I asked our server. I ordered the roast beef po-boy because they've never not been delicious. I have no idea what happened today. My sandwich had beef chunks. Not shredded beef, not sliced beef, but huge cubes of flipping beef. Like stew meat, but far less appetizing. I couldn't even eat it. We were told to just have a seat & someone would be with us soon. We sat for another 15 minutes. Still no one came to take a drink order. In the meantime 2 other families show up.
