I came here with my sister for her birthday a few weeks ago and loved the experience! The dinner AYCEA menu was pretty decent-- I like sashimi so this was perfect for me! A lot of other places charge extra for it. The fish I had was fresh and the miso soup was good, as well. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. The staff was awesome. The rolls were okay but not great, something you will try and then forget. Beef in the tereyaki were so hard not tender. I used to like their tempura but it was not as food this time. The service was okay but could be better if they try to serve together I am almost done w my rolls when the appetizer and tereyaki came. Everything was DELICIOUSSSS, from the crab rangoons to the yakisoba to the Mexican roll / whitehouse roll and sashimi. Generous portions and good flavor on everything. I tried Daiwa Sushi for the first time on June 7th, 2025. Food: The food was okay for an all you can eat at sushi restaurant. I got the shrimp tempura roll and a couple of others. I also got their fried rice, and it was oily. I communicated that with my server, and they were able to take it off my ticket. The apps were pretty good. I liked the shrimp Shumi the best. The sushi rolls were wrapped well and did not fall apart as I tried to pick them up. Service: We were seated immediately but waited a bit for someone to come and take our order. We had to keep asking someone to refill our drinks and it took them a while to come back and get our next round of orders. Overall, the service was not bad, just the wait. Ambiance: The restaurant is near the military base, so they have a lot of miliary personnel dining at the restaurant. It spacious in the inside, but they need to clean their bathrooms. You can't go wrong with the all you can eat lunch special at Daiwa Sushi! The price is right, there's a robot that brings you out your food, and the sushi is solid. The all you can eat doesn't only include sushi, but also items like the crab Rangoon! The only thing I would say is don't over order, because if you do, they charge extra. That being said I don't see why y out can't get 3 rolls and a crab Rangoon lol. read more

So my brother had ordered DoorDash from here because it was late in the evening and I was just getting off of work. Daiwa is about a 30 minute drive from us and it was our first time trying a different sushi restaurant. We didn't expect the food to be good, especially sushi being delivered vs. eating it fresh. We ordered $90 worth of sushi and food and we'd probably order from here again... However, the Rock and Roll sushi with spicy tuna on top tasted like rotten fish/meat. It was as if they mashed a dead tuna sitting in the sun washed up on shore, the taste was awful. The smell of it was like something died and we immediately had to spit it out. Every other sushi was delicious though. I've definitely had better Volcano rolls but it was decent. Crazy Monkey caught me off guard and it had to be my favorite along side the Hawaii and Sunshine roll. I believe the Crazy Monkey one had banana somewhere in it and I wasn't too crazy, no pun intended, to try it but I'm really glad I did. I'd most likely order that on the regular. The tempura was also still pretty good even through the car ride and wasn't soggy at all or stale in a way. The only downside was just that Rock and Roll sushi. I have never tasted anything like that in any of the sushi restaurants I've been too. I hope no one else experiences that at Daiwa. read more

This is my one off experience, but I have no intention of going back here based on this one experience. I ordered takeout via Yelp/GrubHub. Egg roll. It was cold. Not a good way to start a meal, and does not inspire confidence in the rest of the meal. I tried heating it up, but was obviously not fresh, tasted bad, and I couldn't eat it. Dragon Rolls. They don't look fresh, and didn't taste fresh either, and based on having a cold egg roll, not too far if a stretch to imagine that it wasn't. I couldn't finish this dish either. I don't like posting reviews that are this negative, so I don't imbelish, and just provide my experience. But I cannot recommend that you go here. A very bad experience. read more

Make sure to come when they open. It's fills up pretty quick. The food can take a little while to come out. With tax, the all you can eat comes to $19 and change. First and foremost I have to compliment the thing that people go to restaurants for in the first place: just plain good food. The sushi is great, and it helps that they have lunch prices on weekends. This is in contrast to places like Sushi King who charge for dinner all day on weekends. You get the dinner menu the whole day, but the fact remains. Secondly, I enjoy the service and how grateful everyone seems to be that you're coming to the restaurant to dine in the first place. You don't really get that at larger places, and it does warm my heart to know I'm contributing to a small business. I love the atmosphere there as well. It's sight of the place is really interesting to look at, and they even sell anime figures. This is my first review on this site and this is also going to be the first to earn my 5-Star rating. In comparison to other sushi restaurants in Hampton Roads, this food was quality, flavorful, and satisfying. The appetizers were tender and cooked perfectly. The sushi was presented well and made very well. I was really happy and pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the food here. The only complaint I have is that the customer service was lacking, and maybe even somewhat rude, but it's only because the waitresses were a middle school kid and maybe someone a little older. I absolutely missed GOOD sushi after leaving Japan but this place hits the mark EVERY TIME. Everything is made to order and his ALWAYS fresh (this is my favorite reason I love it here). I've been here three times now and I gotta say, for an all you can eat sushi place it's not too shabby. I definitely get my moneys worth ordering the sashimi. . If I had one change to make food wise, is with the chirashi sushi option. You put rice on the side and the sushi cuts I got were really thick. I recommend doing your chirashi in a bowl. Rice, season, then thin cut fish on top. It would make that a star for sure. Otherwise the staff has always been good, and the food is quite nice too. I also don't mind the music, so more anime songs in my opinion, lol. Also sometimes the table can feel sticky, which can be a turn off to most people. Definitely something to note but doesn't bother me much. Overall, happy to be staying close by while I'm here for training. 5 stars. read more

I've eaten lunch here several times with co-workers during the workday. I usually order either two sushi rolls at lunch or do the all-you-can eat lunch special for $12.95. I understand why they make you eat everything on your plate - because otherwise people would order 10 sushi rolls and eat a bite or two from each - they are trying to keep costs down and ensure people don't take advantage of their system. It works for me - I only order 2-3 sushi rolls each time and rice or edamame. Service has typically been pretty prompt though on my last visit, while the food was out rather quickly, we did wait a very long time to get the check. The sushi is decent and fresh. Well-priced and tastes fine to me. (I only order avocado rolls, spicy california and volcano rolls though...) I was also charged the incorrect amount on my last trip. I almost never keep lunch/dinner receipts but I'm glad I found this in the bottom of my purse because when it cleared my account it seemed really high unless I left a $10 tip. I should've been charged $12.50 and instead when it cleared over the weekend and Monday holiday on the following Tuesday I had been charged $21.50. I'm guessing it was a slip-up of the numbers - either way I called and they offered to fix it but I'll need to go down in person because I didn't want to give my debit card info over the phone. This place was pretty mediocre! I came with my crew of 10 during lunch. The interior is nothing to look at, there were screws in the wall where artwork may have lived in a past life. The tables were weeble wobble. They also looked dingy with a hint of dirty dish water cloth odor . Unfortunately, I decided to eat anyway because I was starving and wanted to give it a chance. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Box which looked good from the menu and recommended by a co worker. My philly roll was fresh and came fast with the exception of it falling apart. Then the box came, that was trash! The tray didn't look to clean and the salad was sour smelling. The chicken had more water on it than sauce. I asked for extra, that NEVER came ‍.
