My sushi order was very sloppy and disorganized. I understand you use imitation crab and other items, but at the very least, the presentation and organization of the food should reflect care. My daughter's shrimp tempura had a long piece of shrimp that wasn't cut properly. This used to be a place that took pride in neatness, but now the food feels rushed and careless. We came in on a Saturday early evening and were able to be seated right away. We ordered the hot green tea, which was really good quality and came in a cool cup (that matters to me). Then we ordered one of each of the veggie rolls. Being vegan we're usually used to boring cucumber rolls but there were many different options (5) that were all very different and delicious. I wanted the pan fried gyoza as an appetizer and the chicken yakisoba for the main meal. The gyoza is a pan fried pork dumpling. The chicken yakisoba is stir fried chicken, vegetables, and noodles. Okay so, love this place. The owner/staff are SUPER nice and personable. The prices are great and my drink was never empty. The was my first time visiting Yama Sushi. My coworker took me and it was amazing. I loved the decor and the atmosphere. The food was amazing. I had miso soup, and a lunch box with a volcano roll and a super duper roll. It also includes edamame and a salade with ginger dressing. I loved everything! The miso soup was good too. My husband loved his salmon sashimi, Christmas tree, and miso soup. In total we paid $60.61. We received our food in a timely manner. This was our second time to Yamas sushi and we were just as impressed this time as last. The three rolls that we got were really a great combination as one was more light with no sauce, the orher had sauce, but nothing fried so it was a refreshing roll and the last had fried shrimp tempura inside so a little bit heavier. Walked into the establishment and was met with a strong oder not sure what it was. The ambiance is ok with average amount of seating. I ordered a beer (never got it) because the waitress when on break and forgot. Got the miso soup (wasn't bad). Ordered the ichiban roll which was nothing spectacular. Got the eel roll,a roll I've had often from multiple locations but never tasted it like this before. The eel roll was weirdly wet with almost no eel sauce. The flavor on both rolls were not great. I would honestly give no stars but the miso was the highlight of the meal. Even the tap water was warm with ice added. I wouldn't recommend this place. I love this place. Discovered it about almost two years ago. Loved that they always gave you a surprise roll at the end but now they give you a free order of spring rolls. Not a big fan of them but they are free. The employees are extremely polite and friendly. This is our go to sushi place. Food was super good and the had the baby octopus with the red sauce which we used to get at another place before it closed. It was so good. We had the fried tofu roll, pink dragon, iron man, spiderman 3, salmon roll, and another specialty roll I cant think off. We loved all of them but the fried tofu was surprisingly good.
