Great value for the Bento box sashimi dinner! It comes with a salad, miso soup, California roll, sashimi and gyoza!! The service is fast and friendly! The fare hot and fresh!! Highly recommend!!

Great portions, food is great, and service is wonderful. Love that the calamari was made just right and the place was clean and cozy. Definitely coming back.

I've given inaka several tries now and I can't get past the subpar sushi. Last night was probably some of the worst service and sushi I've had in a very long time. We were seated very quickly around 6pm this past Saturday evening and quickly ordered beverages. It took some time for us to decide. When our server returned, I asked what was in the vegetable roll. Her response - "I don't know I am new." Fair enough, but then she assumed I wanted it and I had to clarify that I wanted to know what was in it before I ordered. When orders arrived, my sushi was a solid 10 minutes before other rolls at our table and my daughter's teriyaki chicken was another 5 minutes after that. I don't have to tell you that a 5 year old doesn't like waiting that long after the adults to get their meal. Her chicken was fine and a good portion. My sushi was horrible! All 3 of my rolls were half rice (see photo). And the rice was incredibly dry. The sweet potato was a tiny sliver with heavy breading and no flavor. The super duper roll was so coated in sauce it was impossible to taste the eel or salmon. I think I've given Inaka enough opportunities to unseat my favorites near my home - Hanaki in Chesapeake and Sakatomo in Virginia Beach. Most likely will not return.

Came here with my friend to get our sushi fix. It wasn't fried due to the holiday week, so service was prompt. I got the dinner box which was great for the price. The soup was hot, the ginger dressing for the salad was great. Typically you get 1/2 a roll with a box, but you get a full California roll. I took the Yaki Soba home. My friend got a sushi roll which she enjoyed. Definitely a great spot for sushi or hibachi.

Ok this is a small place with a vibe all to itself. We wanted an early dinner so at 5 we were the only ones there. The service was great and attentive and even as it started to fill we were not lost. We ordered the gyoza to go with our hot tea. There were 6 with this ginger sauce that was delicious. They didn't last long. My wife ordered the gc tuna roll and the Christmas tree roll. They were good sized roles and loaded with stuff on top. Very nice and tasty. The gc tuna roll was the right kind of crunch and fresh tasting flavor. Piled high with spicy tuna. The Christmas tree roll was fresh goodness there was something on top that was clean tasting. I ordered the monster roll and the inaka mountain roll. Wow they were wonderfully delicious. The monster roll was spicy and fresh tasting with a sauce dripping down the side that added to the flavor profile and little smokiness the inaka mountain role was big and had a nice mild spice with a great co treat to the sweet rice. It was drive to get here but worth it. This place is great. They also have a hibachi menu which smelled great. Maybe next time Give this place a try you'll be glad you did.

None of us had ever been here but the reviews were very high! I had vegetable tempura. Everyone else had salad. They raved about the orange lemon peel dressing with mirin and maybe cashew butter. Yum! Excellent Sushi! Prices were reasonable for the quality. I'm a big eel person and I've been craving it! I was very pleased with the plumpness and amount of eel sauce. We like eel with avocado instead of cucumber. The California Roll, Philadelphia Roll all excellent. There was one roll that had a slightly toasted salmon filet resting on top of a whole roll. It was called Mt. Trashmore. It had a yummy sauce on top of the salmon. Very unique. Can't go wrong! I'll definitely be back!

I've heard good thinks about this place and I'm mad I waited so long to try them out. My waitress is so friendly and happy that I'll come back just for her! Their menu is simple and they offer hibachi, like you would get from a hibachi place that cooks right in front of you just unfortunately they don't, to sushi and noodle dishes. Everything was hot and yummy! Not salty, like you would get at other hibachi places. The rice was "buttery" I think? That might be their secret ingredient. And the veggies still had a bite and not mushy. And the 3 sauces they offer was a nice compliment to the meat too. I got the shrimp hibachi and it was plentiful. The salad dressing they use is like a orange/ginger sweet and not Mayo-y, like at some other hibachi places. The shrimp tempura roll was warm! Like the shrimp was still warm! And that's good because like some other hibachi places they're cold. Ok so to end this review in reference to other hibachi places LOL this place is definitely a place to try out for a non hibachi experience LOL!

Excellent sushi!! Super fresh and great combination of rolls. We got this togo, but the staff was very friendly. Beautiful restaurant!

I'm so grateful to find Inaka sushi. The waitress was very friendly and my food was great. I ordered the steak hibachi. My plate was portioned well & could have easily had leftovers if I didn't eat it all. My coworker ordered the Pink Lady sushi. I have never in my life seen pink sushi, so it was cool to see. My coworker enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for sushi in the chesapeake area!

Inaka is my new favorite sushi restaurant. It's a wonderful local restaurant with a kind and caring staff. The food is always great and the place is nice and clean. It's located on Kempsville and Volvo, behind the gas station, and across the street from Harris Teeter. The parking lot is a little small, spots can be difficult during peak times. I recommend parking in the safe by the Smoothie place. Watch out for the spots marked 15 minutes. Inside is cozy. It seems big at first, but it's still a place you feel comfortable. There is two kinds of soy sauce on the table, regular and low sodium. You always have a napkin, a soy sauce dish, chopsticks, and a small plate. Their menu has lots of lovely sushi, there is often a specials menu too! There are some noodles, hibachi, and other kitchen dishes if sushi isn't for you. I really enjoy the sushi, the rice is nice and small and all the rolls have flavors that go together. They're accommodating if you want to swap out something or add a sauce. I've never had a messy roll here, so expect a tight roll that holds up as you eat it. The fish is fresh and tastes great. My favorite part here is the staff. This is what makes a good restaurant great. They are friendly and lovely to be around. I enjoy chatting when it's slow and I've enjoyed every experience here!

In the mood for hibachi and we were definitely steered by the name. Sad to see it wasn't cool in front of you, but it was still hibachi style cooking essentially. Our waitress was great! Really sweet and made sure we had what we needed. We ordered sushi first that was good and filling, then our typical hibachi order. I enjoyed and even had leftovers to take home. Only ehh was that the fried rice was sweet and not what I expected. Also, the shrimp still had the tails on them that interrupts your eating pace.

Flow was consistent but not disruptive. Very clean and server was very attentive. Bathroom (women) was nicely decorated and clean; felt homey. Music not loud, but not dead silent either. I invited a friend who just came back from Taiwan. So wanted something Asian, but not Chinese. This was it! My new go to place for Ramen. Egg is my soup was on point with flavor! Almost ordered an extra but got extra broth instead. About that broth! It was full bodied, but definitely not pasty. The chili oil made even more robust and carried the soup ingredients well. As you can tell, I was quite content. Going back to try some sushi and appetizers. Just wanted something warm for my sore throat and the soup hit the spot!

Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. Our waitress, Cathy, already seemed visibly annoyed while helping another table. Shortly after we were seated, she walked over and turned off the "Open" sign even though the restaurant was still supposed to be open for another 35-40 minutes. When I asked if we could have about five minutes to quickly look over the menu, Cathy told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes, which made us feel rushed into ordering. We completely understand that staff may want to finish up at closing time, but customers arriving during posted business hours should still feel welcomed. We ended up leaving without ordering because we felt so rushed and uncomfortable. That was especially disappointing because the restaurant looked great, and based on the menu and reviews, the food seemed like it would have been excellent. We were really looking forward to trying it, but the service experience made us decide to leave instead. Hopefully, management addresses this so future guests feel welcome throughout the restaurant's posted business hours.

The hostess did not greet myself or my party as we entered and took a seat in the waiting area. It took about 8 min for all to arrive but a basic "welcome, let me know when you're ready to be seated" would have been nice. Atmosphere= 2 stars The decor is old and worn which I could overlook if it wasn't filthy. The bathroom was generally didn't and gross. Dirt, water, and maybe mildew on the sink counters. Carpeted Floors throughout the restaurant were unclean and sticky in places. 2 chairs at our hibachi table had food and liquid pooled on them. The restaurant was not busy and at no time during the visit did I see any employee clean. Food= 3+stars My party of 6 ordered a variety of hibachi including veggie, chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops and lobster. All the proteins were enjoyed. The veggies were decent. Appetizers were yummy and we enjoyed our sushi roll. The fried rice was overly salty/too much soy sauce for my preference but still edible. Yum-Yum sauce was weirdly over sweet. Overall, my guys enjoyed their food. I definitely wouldn't come for a special occasion but maybe it's ok for a random meal for guys in their 20's? Lol
