On time--twice in fact because the repair was not as expected and he had to return after we ordered the parts he needed. Ionut was incredibly gracious about the whole thing and helped me order the parts online correctly to insure I got exactly what I needed at a fair price. He did this job as if a favor for a friend because it was a small repair, but one I needed done because we were selling the home and buyer requested we handle. Dajk made sure to get the work done within 7 days including both visits. Here's how insanely customer focused Dajk is: BART service went down that day (I know because it messed up my day, too), but rather than cancel our appointment he paid $50+ for his daughter to get an Uber ride to her appointment from East Bay to San Francisco...even though we only paid him $150 for the whole project including the wasted first visit. I insisted he let me pay for the Uber ride because netting just $100 for two visits and 45 minutes work is completely unreasonable. HE REFUSED. I had to talk him into splitting the cost at $25. I don't know where to begin to tell you how happy we were with Ionut's expertise and our new door. We had an old back door that was kind of complicated considering the age of the home. This required tearing out quite a bit of the wall around the door and then repairing it with all new wood and framing inside and out. Some time over the past few years, practically all the closets at my parents' house has a door off the rail or completely fallen off; these are rolling sliding bypass doors (two wooden doors on rollers for each closet) probably from when the house was originally built in the 1950s. I had been preparing myself over this past year to see what can be done to give them functional closets again, hopefully without paying an arm and a leg. In my search for inexpensive closet door replacement (pretty much no such thing, sigh), I learned that closets can be repaired. The first closet repair company I came across does not cover the San Francisco area; the second, a veteran in the business, referred to me by the first company, took a look the photos I had sent, and shared that those are steel frame top hung doors that are not serviceable as steel frame tracks are no longer made. They said I would have to replace the closet doors with new ones. I was very glad I leveraged the Yelp feature to invite multiple businesses to respond to my project. Johnny from Dajk Doors and Windows responded quickly. Upon receiving the closet dimensions, he gave me a preliminary ballpark estimate about how much the repairs would cost. He subsequently came out to inspect and measure the closets. With this additional information, he was able to find lower priced components, and repaired the closets at a very reasonable price with a one-year service warranty. The steel frame tracks were replaced with aluminum tracks w/bearing wheels; Johnny also applied touch-up paint to all the closets, and painted a couple of the closet doors that were missed in our painting project 5 years ago. Afterwards, he also vacuumed each area he worked at to clean up after the debris. Since Johnny was going to be over for most of the day, I figured I'd leverage the time to replace a deadbolt for my parents. As he saw I was struggling with the installation, he offered to help. Ultimately, he did the installation for me. I told him he should charge me for the lock installation and he said that's OK. In the end, I paid Johnny a little extra on top of the project price as a thank you; that's the right thing to do since Johnny had earned it! Overall, I was very happy with this project.
