Thank you but no thank you. I've been wanting to check this eatery out but with hours of operation and my schedule, it is often missed. Today I was in luck! The order was called in (super friendly young lady) and was ready within 20 minutes. Catfish, potato salad, cabbage. Very eager to grab a fork and dig in. Cabbage was fresh but not seasoned. The potato salad base was flavorful but when mixed in with the potatoes it lost its touch. The potatoes had a weird gritty texture as if they were boiled a day or two before. I could have done without both. Catfish- well seasoned, perfect crunch! No tartar sauce or hot sauce? For $25, I had higher expectations. I do look forward to trying Dakari's out again in the future to change this review.

My second chance I have given this business & both times disappointed. This food was absolutely not flavorful, not tasty and just down right bad. What a waste! The Mac and Cheese seemed like a box of Kraft. The Brown stew chicken was atrocious. The cornbread was nothing more than someone's brilliant idea of a let's try to be unique epic fail, it was noticeably made with purely cake mix not cornbread textured at all. This is not it & they need to do better. I know everyone's taste buds are different, so try at your own risk. I will not return.

Desiring fried fish but none in the fridge...I trusted Yelp to guide me (In the spirit of transparency I was on the search for an ice cream sundae-Yelp reminded me of my review a couple of years ago-leading me to Edgewood, which made me think of fish, and the usual conv store has changed its hours)..... so, back to Dakari Less than a mile from ice cream I called to confirm hours of operation and fish options. Pleasant interaction over the phone, I chose whiting and two sides: Mac n cheese and grilled broccoli. I advised that I might be delayed (due to ice cream) and she was kind enough to say they would wait a bit before frying so it would still be hot when I got there! 30min or so from closing the limited seating restaurant was empty, but one patron was outside in his car waiting. I was able to walk in, snap a few pics, pay, and walk out w no issues. I did ask for tartar sauce (packs only) and seemingly they ?don't have hot sauce? Not sure how a soul food restaurant doesn't offer hot sauce...maybe just not to-go? Honestly, I was still full from the sundae, but it looked so good I had to nibble a bit-glad I did, and looking fwd to actually eating the entire meal Don't waste your time trying to eat the Mac n cheese w the plastic fork they give you-TOO CHEESY AND THICK (like i like). The grilled broccoli had an interesting seasoning...not simply salt snd pepper. The fish was coated and seasoned with almost a "fried chicken coating, not as crispy but very tasty Nothing needed extra seasoning and the cornbread was moist and sweet I'll def return to try other "soul food items" to confirm this wasn't a one-time thing Seems they've only been open a couple of years, and per the website there's a location in florida and one in Brooklyn- so a semi chain? In hindsight I didn't see whiting on the online menu; glad she gave me an option Menu also shows lots of wing options as well as jerk...we shall see .

3rd visit So i stopped in on this raining afternoon and grabbed lunch. Hits- The lake trout was delicious. Hot and crispy and perfectly seasoned. 4 stars Collard greens - they were even more yummy than the last time. 5 stars Cornbread- sooooo good! If you like sweet cornbread (who doesn't) you'll love it! Misses Potato salad - so i guess maybe they don't use mustard and if so barely any. There was hardly any flavor and the chunks just too big. Lemon cake- the cake abs icing had good flavor but seemed a bit stale. Perhaps it was a few days old. Even after letting it sit for a bit it didn't get any better I love the fact we have a black owned soul food restaurant in HC. Excited to try the all you can eat seafood Thursday and Sunday brunch.

Honey Old Bay Wings with Fries

I did a quick carryout order of wings and fries. The wait was not long at all. OMG! The honey old bay wings were plump juicy and glazed to perfection!!!! Don't miss out on the cornbread!!! Soft and moist almost like a desser

    This is the email flyer.

I have been a long-time customer and supporter of Dakari's in Edgewood. My family was treated like family there and we are happy to support good black businesses, although the food was sometimes hit or miss. However, as a VIP member I received the Prime Rib Special flyer attached via email. I called in my order just before closing at 6 (web site said 8). I picked up the order, paid, tipped, and was even told "That's a big old prime rib you got there" on my way out the door... Imagine my surprise when the other picture attached was what I found when I got home and opened the bag. I didn't expect it to look exactly like the flyer but I've never known ANY beef to be made of white meat or any prime rib to be that small. It was a pork chop...not "juicy", "well marbled", "high quality roast cut", or "thick sliced" like it says on the flyer. It wasn't even beef, and btw, I also ordered a "salad" that looked like the peppers, onions, and lettuce they put on steak subs and burgers, thrown in a container. When I called back the next day to tell them I paid for prime rib but got a pork chop and to get my money back, the man on the phone insisted that if it had a bone sticking out of it, it was prime rib. I wasn't born yesterday. Cows have bones and so do pigs. I told him it was white meat, just like a pork chop. He wouldn't back down and I didn't want to lose it with him over the phone, so I told him he just lost a loyal customer and family. I love Dakari's story and really wanted to support them but to be insulted by the cook and then by the staff, not to mention $35 dollars for a pork chop, that's the last straw. I can't care for a business that thinks so little of me.

The food was disgusting soul food my ass I paid almost $50 for that bullshit!! Then when I complained they only refunded for the slivered pieces of fish they called lake trout but not for that smothered turkey that tasted like straight sage!!!! I'm from the south and this is unacceptable never seen or tasted such mess!!! Then have the nerve to over charge I paid $16.99 for slivers of fish and extra for the sides Smfh!

We were…read moretraveling to NY for thanksgiving and stopped here because we wanted our morning coffee and some food. We picked here because we saw a sign for IHOP, and just got off the exit. Was easy to find in relation to I-95. For those unfamiliar with Ihop, it is a chain that mainly serves breakfast, and more recently in the last few years- burgers. They are mainly known for their pancakes, but also have omelets and other items like crepes as well. Anyways, walked in and had to wait for someone to come greet us and sit us somewhere-- before long someone helped us and sat us at a booth. Even asked us what we preferred. Our server then greeted us right away. We ordered 3 coffees as starters. Now, the coffee did take a while to come out- maybe the server was making it. Finally the coffee came out, and definitely needed it! Maybe this is worth mentioning, but sometimes I order coffee out, and feel the need to put sugar in it. No big deal because sugar was full and right on the table- but sometimes coffee needs some sweetening-- and I don't normally use sugar at home. Could just mean that the coffee is different, at least sugar fixes it! For breakfast, I decided on the Chocolate Chocolate Chip pancakes, My dad ordered the Strawberry Pancakes, and my mom ordered the quick breakfast combo. Food came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed the food too. Waitress checked on us and made sure we were happy, and offered coffee refills too. We paid the check via a credit card, and left a cash tip. Highly recommend stopping here. Also used the restrooms on the way out, which were clean. Would stop here again if we are ever in the area.

3/5 stars: "My Pleasure" Felt More Like "My Inconvenience"…read more I've been a loyal Chick-fil-A customer for years, and the brand built its reputation on hospitality. That's why this morning's visit stung. I came in around 9:45 a.m. for breakfast. After finishing my meal, I walked up to the pickup area inside with my empty cup in hand, which at any Chick-fil-A is a universally understood signal for a refill. No line. No other dine-in customers. Just me, standing there. For about ten minutes, I watched four employees walk past me. They called out DoorDash orders for drivers who weren't even in the building. One employee left the counter to wipe down the dining room and walked right past me without a word. Another walked over to drop a bag on the DoorDash shelf, looked through me, and kept moving. I asked for a refill three separate times. Ignored each time. Finally, I stopped a young man heading back to the kitchen and asked, "Do you still do refills?" He said yes and started to walk off. I had to ask a second time: "Could you please give me a refill?" He paused, said "Sure, my pleasure," and grabbed my cup. Here's the thing. "My pleasure" is supposed to mean something here. It's part of why people choose Chick-fil-A over every other fast-food chain on the strip. When it gets reduced to a scripted line you mumble to make a customer go away, the entire brand promise falls apart. I'm not writing this to get anyone in trouble. I'm writing it because the standard S. Truett Cathy set was the reason this company became what it is, and the team on shift this morning needs a reminder of what that standard actually looks like. Acknowledging the person standing three feet in front of you with an empty cup is step one. To the operator: I'd genuinely love to see this addressed. The food was fine. The service was the problem.
