I had the collard greens and mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was perfect combo of cheesy and flavor. A lot of places mess up greens but these were just like having them at home. I got to try the yams and i definitely will be ordering all three next time. This place will see me again! I didn't get to dine in so I can't speak to service. But my food was ready when I got there (ordered online), the girl in the front was friendly, and the order was correct. Ambiance is casual, it's small in there. Love a good soul food place!

My big girl (5 year old) enjoyed the catfish bites which were crispy and seasoned perfectly--definitely the favorite at the table. Mac and cheese was creamy with that baked top we all love, and the collard greens had that slow-cooked flavor that makes you feel like you're at someone's grandma's house. We also shared a cheesesteak, and honestly, it was solid. Cheesy, juicy, and messy in the best way. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the french fries tasted like they were made-in house. The vibe was super chill, and our server, Tasha, was kind and welcoming. Nothing too fancy--just good food that hits the spot. Def deserves another visit soon!

I ordered the smothered pork chop dinner with a side of rice and gravy and collard greens, and I added add'l sides of sweet potato casserole and stuffing (for an additional fee for each.) Like I said, the smothered pork chops were extremely tender. I didn't even need a knife, I honestly could have used a spoon to eat them. The gravy could have used a tad more salt or chicken bouillon, but the flavor was good and the gravy had a good consistency. The collard greens were really good. I'm not sure whether or not they use meat, but I liked them. I absolutely loved the sweet potato casserole. It was very sweet, just like I like it. The cornbread dressing was good, but I should've gotten my gravy on top of it to keep it super moist. Next time I will do it with the gravy on top. I have no notes-- the next time I'm in the Baltimore area and craving soul food, I know where to go

The staff both on the phone when I called to confirm hours, since it was Super Bowl Sunday, and in person are great. It's a cute venue to get together and enjoy food and fellowship. I actually did a two step entering to the song that was playing. :-) My food was enough to share. I didn't want to be greedy. (smile) The macaroni and sweet potatoes are amazing. The turkey wings were delicious. I'll hold on the gravy next time. I like my poultry on the darker side. The number and address is already saved for a return visit. I'll be back Lord's willing. If you're looking for good food, stop in.

That's nice but the drink and desert selection was basically non existent so if you're looking for a sweet treat they might have it but your drinks you're better off stopping at the grocery before heading home. Now the food: if you don't want to wait long. ORDER AHEAD. When I placed my order online it was about a hour wait time. Luckily I wasn't starving because that's a bit extreme to wait for carry out food. When we received the food everything smelt GREAT. I personally ordered the maple jerk wings, Mac and string beans. The wings were good, they were a little more sweet than jerky but still good. I was really disappointed with the Mac and String Beans. Normally I'm all for flavor, but the seasoning on the string beans were overwhelming and the Mac & cheese was very very salty. I thought it was just mine but this seemed to be the general consensus. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the talk of the night were the salmon tenders. Our least favorite item was the shrimp. To me paying $13.99 then an additional 2.99 for the sauce for it to not even be fully coated and overly battered is insane. I wouldn't have cared if the price matched the quality.

The staff were so friendly. During our visit we had two waitress checking in on us through our dinner. I went for Baltimore restaurant week and I must say I enjoyed every. I started with the spicy crab dip which came with a big piece of garlic bread. It was delicious but I do feel like the dip could have had more of a crab flavor. Next I did the Chipotle maple salmon with cilantro rice, also very delicious along with the lobster shrimp salmon belly curry. WOW! Lastly the peach creme brulee tasted more like sweet potato but that's the only thing I didn't enjoy. Would definitely go back!

We were there at 7 on a Saturday night (we were a few minutes late because we had a little trouble finding parking) and there was one other couple there and a small birthday party in the other section, but that was it. Whatever they're doing here for dine in, they need to keep doing. It's amazing. If dine in is this good, their catering must be insanely good. Service was wonderfully attentive. We both did the retaurant week menu, which is a great deal for $45 per person. Between us, we got the Maple salmon, Teriyaki chicken (with truffle oil pommes frites), "unconventional Caesar" salad, chicken dumplings appetizer and Sweet potato bread pudding for dessert. Everything was honestly amazing and so tasty. The chicken was succulent and pulled apart easily and the fries were delightful. My wife loved her salmon. Our appetizers were great. The bread pudding too. We will be back! If you're around their neck of the woods, go. One post-script note:The menu is a bit tricky to look at online, because you have to download it to your phone/tablet/computer first, and that's just a smidge fiddly if you peruse prior to showing up. But that's not a Water For Chocolate thing, that's a technology thing.

Angie's was once located…read morein the "old" section of Lexington Market, right across the street from where the "new" Lexington Market is located. It is now on the street across from the old location. I read that their chitterlings were good and I was in the area, so I decided to find out for myself. Upon entering, I was met with a heated glass case which had the chitterlings, along with the hog maws (that would be pig's stomach), in addition to side items such as candied sweet potatoes and collard greens. The ambiance was of a traditional carry-out, but on a slow day ( I went on a Saturday late afternoon). I saw the pricing for the chitterlings and hog maws and was taken aback: the small round deli container that hold 1/4 pound of food was going for $15 with prices only increasing as the deli container sizes did. I had to remind myself, as a connoisseur of chitterlings and hog maws from my extensive family history of preparing such soul food delicacies, that it takes an awful long time to clean those pig intestines and stomach, I mean HOURS to remove the waste and grit followed by extensive rinsing to make sure none of that ilk remains. So I took one for the team and got the $15 container of chitterlings, along with the same size container of sweet potatoes. I doused them in hot sauce that was provided. The ladies were on the grill cooking an insane amount of scrapple, another home favorite that I enjoy. The pleasant gentleman that assisted me said that they are open for breakfast Monday-Sat beginning at 6a. I may have to stop by... Once home, I got into those chitterlings fast: they were cooked well, with NO grit, and had a vinegary flavor that was enhanced by the hot sauce. They were GOOD. The sweet potatoes were whipped, but as I tasted them, they were missing something. I whipped out my nutmeg and cinnamon and with a few shakes of each, the sweet potatoes were just as they should be. Angi's also sells pig's feet, subs, sandwiches, and fish. All in all, a good place to grab some chitterlings, hog maws, pig's feet, and other soul food-themed items. Will definitely be back to try the hog maws and to grab a scrapple sandwich for breakfast.
