I am reviewing for Al since he doesn't do it! Dr. Swantek is caring, personable, kind and a partner in whatever procedure might be needed. His office staff is warm and wonderful too - a good experience. Al is extremely happy with him. Al has had some pain with his teeth in the past six months, and in the first experience Dr. Swantek fitted him in to see him ASAP. The pain went away, but flared up again this past week bigtime. This last week Dr. Swantek was away, but his assistant not only took the message and called Al back ASAP, but also arranged for us to see another excellent dentist in JP. And Al was able to see Dr. S yesterday, and he recommended an Endodontist specialist, Dr. Fitzgerald today, and Al had the root canal. Al is resting comfortably and doing so well, thanks to the joint efforts of all of these great dentists. Now I need to do a review for the kind and gentle attentions of Dr. Swantek's friend from dental school, who was nice enough to see us when Dr. Swantek was out!

He has all the professional skills of the best in the field, and keeps himself educated on the latest in innovative dental practices by regularly attending conferences. More importantly, he has compassion for his patients. He will set you at ease whether you are facing a simple checkup and cleaning, or a complicated procedure. He will explain procedures to you without an air of condescension. He also makes himself accessible to his patients. I've never had a problem scheduling an appointment. Not all doctors will see patients during non-office hours for emergencies, but Dr. Mendez's concern is to alleviate pain. Most people dread going to the dentist. Perhaps that has been your experience in the past when scheduling a dental appointment. Try giving Dr. Mendez a call and I bet your perspective will change. His staff are gentle and courteous and he is friendly and down-to-earth. When I moved to Boston I tried three other dentists and was disappointed every time. They cost too much, hurt my teeth and gums during routine cleanings, or once even tried to convince me I needed a root canal when I was totally asymptomatic. Having had healthy teeth my whole life, I called Dr. Mach's office back home in Woodridge for advice. He offered a second opinion basically free of charge, looked at my x-rays, even examined the tooth in question, and told me I didn't need the procedure. He then gave me the name of one of his colleagues from dental school who was practicing in Cambridge. This guy ended up being great too, so it just reinforced my trust in Dr. Mach. If your family needs a dentist, this is your guy. I travel from the city just to get my teeth cleaned because his staff is the best.

If you have a minor cavity, he can sometimes use laser technology to fix it which is much less painful than the regular method. The Staff: The staff at the office includes Julie and Nicole who are easy to interact with. I always feel welcomed at their office. Building: My only recommendation for improvement is that the interior needs to be updated. The entire office is very clean and the wooden floors are up to date. The wall paint, decor, and ceiling, howevering, could use some sprucing up. Also, the outside of the building has a generic "DENTIST" sign on it which could use some brand design updates as well. So i completed the formalities and waited...Waited..waited and waited till 1015 after which i asked when i was going to be seen. I was informed that my appointment is at 10:30am and should be coming up soon. That was the first time i got to know that my appointment time was changed and i wasnt even informed on that. However, anyways i had no other option but to wait and finally at around 10:50am i was called inside. So essentially i waited an hour before i was seen. Dr. Vernoski was my doctor and as soon as he looked at me, he asked me if we are doing Xray today as i am pregnant. I said No. He made a very weird face and mentioned that "i should have come before i became pregnant. Without X Ray he cannot do anything and its only the 30% of what he will know whats going on". That was the memorial day weekend and i felt that his X ray money was out of the window and he got very annoyed looking at me. Somehow i maintained my cool and said "thats the precise reason i am visiting dentist to make sure i dont have major issue which you may get while being pregnant. He started with the floss and kept saying that he doesnt have time to teach me how to floss, though I never asked for it. My gums were bleeding because of this pregnancy and i was in pain and thats why i was visiting the dentist. 3 mins in floss and another 5 mins in cleaning the teeth with the manual tool and thats it. I am done with the annual cleaning. I have visited many dentists in the past and never ever experienced some thing like this where not more than 8 mins were spent on cleaning. Another 5 mins of polishing and i was out by 11 am. So i spent more time waiting and less time on the chair with all kinds of blabbering from the doctor. Although he gave me a tip on how to take care of my teeth during this time but it was a horrible experience. Will never ever come back again.
