This little home away from home restaurant helps fill that desire for southern cooking, but its hard to overlook the people they choose to represent their business. Their cooking has been consistently on point in great taste and wait times, minus those busy Friday and Saturday nights of course. Why would a great place get only 2 stars though? Well because the food is great, but I just cant give a place that is run by Bonnie Warwick anymore than 2 stars. If you just observe her behavior on any weekend night she treats her waitresses like utter dirt, and I can only imagine how poorly the kitchen staff gets treated. Instead of helping out waitresses run food, something that a good manager would do, you can find Bonnie sitting down, drinking beer ( for free mind you, the price for beer for customers has gone up .50 but Bonnie can drink all the free beer she wants), or outside smoking cigarettes ( in the area that says NO SMOKING). I really hope that Dale gets a new change of management soon, but unfortunately until then I cannot support a place like this. Edit as of August 2nd 2018: It's upsetting that the owners of the restaurant have to go so far as to intimidate potential customers with reviews. My daughter-in-law had gotten a new refrigerator right before they left for vacation so there was barely anything in it. They have a wonderful pantry and I ate a Ramen out of the pantry Saturday night for supper but just couldn't find anything. I was hungry for in there on Sunday. Anyway, I was hunting some food to have delivered on Sunday. I had never even ordered takeout from any place in Taylor or Hutto and it took me a while to find something that could accommodate all my needs -but Randy's Icehouse to the rescue!! The first time I ate there I had my grandsons with me and we all had burgers along with some fries and onion rings we shared and everything was delicious and cooked to order. Yesterday, I chose a Chicken Fried Steak dinner with a baked potato , a side of mushrooms and a side salad. I enjoyed the CFS once I removed most of the breading (don't get me wrong. It was nice and crispy-I just wasn't in the mood for it) it was easy to remove, and the steak itself was cooked properly, there was cream gravy to go over it, and I ate it with my canned Mushrooms on the side. My Baked Potato was on the small side, but it was delicious and all the logical condiments like shredded cheese, sour cream, & butter were all included (in little cups) so I could use what and how much of those I wanted. It also came with a slice of Texas Toast and a Side Salad, which was freshly chopped lettuce with bacon, and croutons, and had the blue cheese dressing I had ordered on the side. Even without the breading on the meat, I was full before I ever made it to the Texas toast. I focused on the chicken fried steak, the gravy and the baked potato. It was all very good. Not sure why, but I didn't care for the mushrooms too much , I knew they would be canned, but they had a little bit of a tinny flavor so I ate a couple of those, but then left the rest. The blue cheese dressing was great, not sure if it was homemade, but there were small chunks of blue cheese evident, which I appreciated. Because I had filled up on my steak and potato I only ate about a third of the salad. The only thing I missed was the woman who was our server last time I went with my grandsons -as she was very pleasant and nice to talk to! I'm very grateful they were open on the Fourth of July weekend and even more grateful that Toast was able to deliver it to me out at my son's house-which I consider to be in the boonies -but then a lot of Taylor /Coupland area is! Looks like this is going to be my go to place if I need some good home cooking out that way!! If you haven't been it's worth the drive!!!

Awful customer service. Especially when making reservations…read more I go here a lot, because I like dry aged steak, but I can't get over the customer service around reservations. As a combat vet, I feel uncomfortable AF eating in the middle of a tiny and cramped dining room. The dining room is so small and packed here that I'm surprised that the fire marshal even allows that many people to be sat in there. Still, when I ask for a booth and say that I don't want to eat in the middle of that tiny dining room when I make a reservation, I find it odd to be sat in the middle of the dining dining room only to see that there's multiple parties that were just sat in booths and haven't even gotten their drinks yet--like, they were just sat before us (and we were on time for our reservation). I think you could have a little more respect for your customers is all. For that reason alone, you're not worth the price of your half-baked pretense in my opinion. You get a one-star for that reason alone. On the quality front, the ribeyes I get are more and more consistently riddled with connective tissue and are hard to eat, with a lot of waste. Not exactly the quality of meat cut one expects for the price. Sometimes they nail it, but I'd say at least a third of the time my ribeyes are almost half scrap. The quality seems to be diminishing since I first started frequenting this place. So, perhaps your supplier sucks. Idk. Pick your meat better if you want to demand higher prices. I think I'll stop coming back at this point. 2020 Market has good steak, too. Only I haven't dealt with so much connective tissue in my steak there. And also, I haven't had issues with my reservations there. So you lose me to your competition after having gotten so much money out of me. Consistent quality and customer service could maintain such consistent regular customers in your sales. What a weird way to lose customers. Your whole business is customer service and cooking food well. Do better.
