Cute little "local" burger stop with some limited outdoor seating and a menu full of burgers, shakes, fish (cod and halibut) and some other items you'd expect. The bacon Swiss burger was decent. The bacon was the real winner here and they put a bit on it. Fries were also decent. It's downhill from there. While the Halibut fish and chips could have been good, the batter was utterly tasteless and some seasoning in the flour could have gone a LONG way. We ordered the English chips on the side but received regular fries so we couldn't get those. Onion rings used the same batter and were just gross. Half raw, very greasy, and flavorless. When you can't get the Oreo shake right, you get a one-star rating! It tasted like they used the fake, cheap "Oreo" knock-off cookies in their Oreo shakes. Just garbage. It's one of those staples at any shake place and they could have at least used real Oreos? (Maybe they were real Oreos and just super old?!?) Either way, yuck! Cross another one off of our go to food joints. We asked.. are our fries hot? The server said, should be. I said should be? Wow. I checked after we left the drive through.. the fries were not even hot. Room temp fries.. went around the block to return our meals. The owner was there and he lied to my husband's face and said that they toss the fries after 15 minutes. If you know daily freeze, the line takes forever to get through the drive through and we were there at least 20 minutes in hundred degree heat. I love the Halibut Dinner! Everything I've ordered there has been good food. Yesterday it was the halibut and a raspberry cheese cake shake. The young man who took our order was polite and acted like he enjoyed his job. We were there early, so there wasn't a long wait to order. When you eat at Ma and Pa restaurants and they make each meal fresh, it takes a couple of minutes to get your food. I'll chose that any day over the fast pre cooked foods at the big guys places. So what is there to say about Daley Freez other than it's a small town place with typical greasy fastfood to cure that craving. My go to used to be the seaburger but recent changes has change the type of fish they used. Now it is just a greasy chunk of cod thrown on a bun slathered with sauce. The hamburgers are still the same as they have always been, a small patty sandwiched between condiments and veggies. The fries are great and the seasoning is really good. Be sure and get the pink sauce to go with them! The onion rings are deep fried goodness covered in a house made batter. They are pretty big and also pretty oily. As are the fish and chips. Also dipped using house made batter. The shakes are pretty good as well, but tend to "run" on the more liquid side than what you'd expect. Not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying it's not my preference. It seems to be busy a lot of the time during the evenings and the line for both the window and drive through can get pretty long. Standard old town hamburger joint with the typical things like hamburgers and milk shakes. Price wise it's fairly average for this type of place. Is it an every night type of place, of course not. I have to preface this with the acknowledgement that I absolutely love small town burger joints. They're my favorite thing, ever. This is well documented. All up and down the state, and across the freeways of America, I've frequented roadside stands, drive-thrus, shacks, and small ma and pop spots. I don't say this to pull any kind of cred--I'm just a dude who likes burgers. The reason that I do share this, is that I give tons of leeway to spots like this--they're not pioneers of the epicurean front, they're just good, comfortable food. With all that leeway, I still have to say that there were some problems with my Daley Freeze meal. I don't regret going there, I still choose small town burgers every time, but even with a deep abiding love of these kinds of establishments, I was left thinking about a lot of areas of improvement. First, the burger. Look, I know this isn't dry-aged beef ground to chef's texture, but these patties were forlorn. The whole burger was quite small, even for a double, and the patties thin. I loved that they weren't shy on the mustard (far superior to ketchup, IMO) and I love me some pickles, but the whole thing was less than you'd expect even from a drive-thru spot. The shake (chocolate banana is my go-to, always has been, it's a thing with me) was a great texture but had some major mix problems. About a third of it hadn't been mixed at all, so I got a big portion of just vanilla soft serve and a big ribbon of chocolate syrup. Kudos for the texture, for using syrup (superior to chocolate soft serve) and for fresh banana, and I kinda like the changeup of shake and just ice cream, but a shake it was not. The fries, billed as "Best Fries In Town", probably fit that bill when they were first made. Somewhere between shoestring and steak fries in size, they had the greatest potential. But they weren't real fresh, and even the generous dusting of seasoned salt couldn't save them. I ate them, they were fine, but their tagline now largely depends on if anyone else in town is making fries. It's mostly a drive thru, with a few parking spots in front and a walk-up window, with limited seating around back. They're now only serving Pepsi (although signs say Coke and Pepsi) and the menu has a few creative items like a mushroom swiss burger, or a pastrami burger. The place has history, clearly, but I worry about their future. I wanted to love it. The service was pretty quick, but about as warm as the fries, and ultimately I walked away mostly forgetting the whole thing. For a burger shack guy, that's not awesome. It's much better than a lot of chainy options, and you can do far worse. Prices were pretty reasonable, that's a positive as well. Hopefully they keep things fresh and don't plateau, I'd like to see them around for a long time and with a feverish following. read more

I don't leave bad reviews. It's not worth my time. I made a yelp account to leave this review because I genuinely want to warn people about this place. We went at about 7pm on a Saturday. There was a line of cars. We ordered 4 items off the menu for a family of 4. Then we sat waiting for our order for a solid 40 minutes in the drive thru. Cars behind us were literally giving up and leaving without their already-paid-for orders, but dang it, I bought $40 worth of overpriced burgers and I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of keeping my money without getting my food. There were 5 people working. I have no idea what they were doing for 40 minutes. Finally they gave me one item (pastrami sandwich). I had to remind them I had ordered 3 others. After 5 more minutes they brought out 2 more items (pastrami burger and grilled cheese) and seemed to expect me to leave. I reminded them of the 4th item (a malt) and asked for some napkins. They said they would get it. 5 minutes later they brought my shake (which definitely had no malt in it). No napkins. We left. The food was wretchedly bad. Among the worst things I've ever eaten. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say the pastrami had the mushy texture and taste of newspaper soaking in dirty dishwater. I have no idea how they managed to make such awful food. The bread on the grilled cheese tasted funky, like it was fermented or something. My kids wouldn't touch it. The shake was fine. I wasted $40 and 45 minutes of my life here for an okayish shake and completely inedible garbage food. If you are starving to death and haven't eaten in weeks, do yourself a favor and drive to the next exit on I-15 to find a McDonalds. I've been here about 3 times, so I think this is a fair review. We used to come here from Orem to get ironport soda, as they were the closest place, now that JJ Burger in Provo has ironport (and at the fountain with free refills), we don't come as much. I have had a burger, chicken strips, fries, fried fish, and a scone from here. I would not recommend the onion rings, they aren't crispy, and the onion is undercooked. The fries, burgers, scones and chicken strips are all average, no complaints there. The fried fish was a no-go. However, the ironport is good and the service is good, but expect to wait, everything is made to order, so you can wait for a little bit. Is the wait worth it? Maybe. read more

In search of the perfect malt. Drove to the local Daley Freez - old school 1950's walk up drive in. Counter gal was super friendly and helpful. While waiting for our malted also noticed typical drive-in foods including chicken strips and onion rings, french fries, burgers, Ruben sandwich and even halibut fish and chips! Judging by the number of people that came and went, this is quite a popular place. Well staffed so wait time was reasonable. Ordered the 24oz chocolate malted. Including tax only six bucks. You can't miss this place - its on one of the main drags in Payson, and when its "roll down the window" weather, I say, its time for a cool drink. I know, its only 53 out, but it feels REALLY good after a long winter, to feel that sun on my arm and roll that car window down. Payson is the gateway to the Mt Nebo Loop Drive and this is a nice stop on the way there. Daley Freez a nice local biz that serves yummy treats. Its the kind of place that you remember from your teenage years driving around on a hot summer night, looking for something to do. I hear the handbattered fish and chips are good. Sometime I will go back and try that or a burgers and fries (sign on the outside says 'best fries in town') but today it was an IRONPORT! He brought us here on the way home and bought us dinner - as long as we had the fish and chips. I did and it was amazing. I've been here many more times over the years and have always had the cod. It amazes me that it is still prepared the same way (the right way) as it was way back then. My husband had a burger and said it was good. The fries are just fries and they don't matter to me.
