What a let-down dining experience. I had higher expectations based on reviews and the recommendation from the hotel manager. But if this is the best that Springville has to offer, I'll be going to Provo or Spanish Fork for my next dinners. The atmosphere is pleasant, airy and light. The pan seared lightly battered halibut, $41, was as listed but the texture was like it had come out of the freezer and was dry. The sauteed asparagus was fine. Salad was a lot of iceberg and very little mixed greens. It took over 15 minutes to get my glass of wine. Apparently, only the manager can go downstairs to get the wine which is locked up in a room. And then when it did come, I had to bring it up to the server station and ask for it in a clean glass...smudges and wong lipstick color were the clues. Came here today for a work lunch with a group of seven. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to put a table together to seat us. The service was a little slow, but the food definitely made up for it. However, it was busy for a weekday lunch. The breadsticks were super warm and delicious. I love all of the flavor and the texture. They are also super fluffy. I ordered the shrimp and salmon salad, and I asked to have the pineapple salsa as my dressing instead of the poppyseed dressing. The pineapple salsa was very fresh and flavorful. I love the blackened shrimp and the salmon and they were very generous with the amount of seafood on the salad. The spinach itself was nice and crisp. I quite enjoyed the salad and would definitely order it again. We finished off our meals with the chocolate cake, which was absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and I don't think the noodles were strained well enough. The sauce was great but underneath the noodles there was a puddle of water. Magelby's is pretty hit or miss for me. Breakfast is ALWAYS a hit. Dinner is what's a potential miss. The wedge salad was so yummy and I wish I had gotten a full size for dinner because that would have been perfect. I also had the Alfredo which was pretty watery and not super flavorful unfortunately. The steak was good and mashed potatoes are impossible to mess up. As far as desserts go the Chocolate cake was by far the best! Service is pretty good especially for how busy they get. What a yummy place for a work lunch! Met my coworkers there and were seated immediately because of our reservation online. We were sat in the glorious sunshine with rainbows littering the table due to the stained glass. Our server was attentive and prompt about getting us lemon waters and some just okay parmesan rolls. For being on a higher end restaurant, the food was a tad bit short of being great. The ribeye was slightly over cooked on the medium request, but the flavoring was burnt a bit, it was difficult to adjust to what they were achieving for taste. I'm a big beef fan but was not a fan of the ribeye. Maybe the prime rib would've been a better choice for like flavoring . The potatoes on the side was a bit large and underwhelming, needed a bit more salt as it felt plainly boiled. The halibut was well cooked and flavored, needed more than a single wedge of lemon due to the abundance of almonds, absorbing the juice, but the batter was flavored well and light as it should be. Tartar sauce was average sauce, nothing spectacular but I barely dabbed my halibut in it. Rice pilaf was good and nothing out of the ordinary,paired well with the halibut . The desert was the best tasting, perfectly burnted topped sugar and crème brûlée was a perfect ending to the underwhelming entree unfortunately. Their bread was cooked well, flavored well, and wish it had a tad bit more to offer as far as offerings, waited for the 2nd serving but never came, which was a disappointment because it was really good. The ambience was nice, high ceilings, good soft music, a lot going on with decoration to keep your eyes busy but it was modernly refreshed with a tad bit of Romanian era. Service was highly professional to add, although 15 min wait time was a bit of a frustration but they did waiting 7-8 mins in to inform me they were going to serve us. The restaurant was about 30-40-% capacity. But overall attitude was definitely on the higher end of hospitality and professionalism. Well trained staff with a senior looking over them seems to be working well. Maybe would come back to try other items on the menu if I was we back in springville. My mother loves this place, so every holiday, her birthday, or occasion when someone we know is in town, we go to Magleby's. The food was great when I could eat that kind of food, but there are really no plant-based options here at all. They offer one salad they call vegan, and I suppose it is, but for our new, truly healthy diets, we ordered it, without any dressing, and discovered the beets weren't raw, but pickled with sugar! Ate around them. Restaurants really need to know lifestyles are changing as we Boomers age. We don't like inflammation or high A1C levels. We won't eat gravy or bread anymore, no matter how delicious your rolls are...it's just not worth the pain. I want to tell their chef to look up masteringdiabetes.org and use some of the great recipes there-then we can enjoy eating out again! Been looking to try this place as its seems more sophisticated then any others in the area but you need a reservation unless you have an hour to spare. (I made mine on Friday). Two floors and our seat setting was basement but the good news is it's not a dungeon with outside light and quiet ambiance. Started with the wine list looking for a bold Pinot Noir to tie to either a filet Mignon or Ribeye. Decent list & saw $83 Flowers but out of stock, next choice was the same but the Maitre de brought two others back and settled on the $43 Talbott and after tasting ordered the $45 Rib-eye. Appetizers were the crisp jumbo shrimp and cocktail sauce. Now I like my sauce with a little more horseradish and shrimp chilled a few more degrees but it was still good regardless. Also shared the Charcuterie although I am no fan of Brie so ate most of the prosciutto with baguette that had nice flavor, not too salty and Genoa salami. Next up was a handsome salad topped with blue cheese dressing. Finally the main entree came and was delivered a little too early as the salads were not done yet. You typically Find this when restaurants are trying to turn tables for a second seating but no line out the door this weekend. The Rib-eye showed up as ordered, medium with some tinge of medium rare on the thicker side. The sauce combined with some pearl onions and steak was delightful although I would have preferred some mushrooms too. Now I like filet but the marbleized ribeye has much more flavor and was a perfect match with the Wine. The dish came with a mixed vegetables scramble that was ok with some miniature potatoes. The other entree was Chicken Franchisee. This dish proved to large to eat and more than half had to be brought home, the pasta was al- dente and chicken breast was Crisp on the outside and tender inside. The white wine lemon sauce was not over powering and plenty of it so the pasta was not dry. Finished off with a light favorite Crème Brûlée with fruit, just made whipped cream and a raspberries purée. Now there was no espresso so settled on the French press that was made stronger and the way I enjoy it, black no sugar. The staff was nice and friendly, attentive and there was no wait for anything but the wine. Bathrooms were clean and maintained. Will go back again and try other menu items! read more

I was gonna start my review with "hey, we're East Coast snobs who moved here recently and are used to having dozens of fine restaurants nearby and we still think this place is great-- what else do you need to know." But you probably need more than that, so there's this: Magleby's is Springville's best fine dining establishment. Not just because it's Springville's ONLY fine dining establishment, but because it is really quite good. My wife and I go there about once a month, and when guests visit this is where we bring them. It leaves a great impression. I've had the seafood, pasta, and beef dishes and never been disappointed (except once, see below). Staff is very kind and eager and the ambiance is nice. The interior is interesting-- kind of a mix between turn of the century rustic western wood and stone along with some classical Greek thrown in, with the columns and blue ceiling and fountain-- plus a dash of mid-century modern. Reminds me of places on Long Island but it's not over the top and actually pretty cool. We like the downstairs best, recommend asking to sit there. Only thing is I recommend avoiding buffet night, which I believe is the last Friday or Saturday of each month? Not because it's bad, the food is really good. But it's like $50/person and really, how much can you eat? Otherwise the prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food and the atmosphere. We're used to paying more and getting less, and this is a nice contrast. We do love the other more casual places in Springville, such as Art City Trolley. But Magelbys is special and not just because it's the only game in town. Highly recommended. On the one disappointment: skip the hamburger. I tried it last time there. It's too big and difficult to eat, with very chewy bread and a mess with everything on it. Art City is the place to go for an upscale burger. But hey, very few places have a 400 batting average! And the young guy who waited on us was so nice and eager to please I didn't have the heart to tell him the truth when he popped by to ask how is everything. We were guests at a seminar presentation this evening, which included dinner. absolutely loved the cleanliness and restaurant design. Walking in, there was a wonderful aroma of freshly baked Parmesan breadsticks and a display case featuring their famous chocolate cake. Meeting was held downstairs and although our presenter was using a microphone, the noise from upstairs was noticeable during the presentation, which is the reason for four versus five stars. Nonetheless, the ambience of the downstairs area was just as welcoming as the upstairs. Tables were beautifully set, and there were baskets of freshly baked Parmesan breadsticks on the table. We had a choice of salmon, chicken, or beef medallions. Husband had the salmon and I selected the beef medallions. They were both incredible. I've myself and not a seafood or fish eater, but I did try my husband salmon and actually thought I might order it for myself in the future. Both meals were served with creamy mashed potatoes and crisp snap beans. Of course, their signature, chocolate cake with their raspberry sauce was served for dessert, and it did not disappoint. so looking forward to returning. read more

We came into the restaurant with a party of 8. They were not busy and we could see many empty tables. We waited 30 minutes to be seated. It took an additional 10 minutes once we were seated for a server to come to our table to give us menus and take our drink orders. Once we ordered, it took an additional 20 minutes for our food to arrive and it came out 2 or 3 plates at a time. By the time the last two meals arrived, the people who had already been served were finished eating, and three of the eight meals were not what was ordered. The food here as gone down hill since we were here last. We have been here several times and always order the roasted brie with garlic and crustini and fruit (photo from our first visit posted before) and it was AMAZING before they changed the menu. Now it's a random meat thing with like 5 grapes, a tiny piece of Brie inside some weird little piece of bread, NO roasted garlic, and 4 piece of bread....not enough for what you pay for, we ran out of bread! It was NOT good and a big disappointment from what we expected. They also don't have a menu online that works anymore, and had we known we would have done our Valentine's celebration somewhere else. As for the entree, we have always gotten the Filet Mignon Medallions. Supposed to be 3 small cuts that melt in your mouth, with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. The veggies were both over cooked and under-cooked, not sure how that happens but it did. The meat was 100% NOT FILET MIGNON. It was seriously some random piece of meat flattened thin and cooked. There were 2 pieces but they looked big because they were flattened. They were so chewy and unappetizing. We had 2 waitresses, one took my husbands soda glass to refill and never came back, the other stopped by when we had to flag her down (it was NOT busy either) and she just said "oh" and didn't even seem to care that it had been about 15 minutes since the girl took his glass. Due to the bad meal we did not do dessert which we used to love and would probably have not like at all and we didn't want to risk it. For a bill of $100 no dessert and melancholy service at best, it was not worth it at all. Such a disappointment. I see that there are other reviews as of late that are a tell tale sign that they may have changed cooks and they shouldn't have. Not sure we will ever return. read more

My first experience with this restaurant was when I was gifted chocolate cake by a friend. The cake was extremely decadent and delicious. All Springville residents rave about this place, so I had to try it. The menu offers a fair amount of gluten-free options, but as a vegetarian or vegan, your options are extremely limited.
