My experience with Dallas dental specialists started out fine and ended very negatively. Over the course of my care I received a few cavity fillings - that felt like it was a race to see how fast they could finish - my fillings then required adjustment following my appointments because they were causing shooting pain when I bit down or ate anything. The office did offer to fix my fillings so I went back and they evened them out and the shooting pain was fixed and I was told there was no additional cost. 7 Months later I received an invoice from them for the filling adjustment saying my insurance did not pay for it even though it was presented to me as a complimentary fix on a poorly executed filling done by them in the first place. His entire staff is so friendly and kindly calmed me when I was anxious (I've always had a fear of dental work). I cannot begin to explain how great my experience was with this Dentist. I had last seen a chain dentist ( I know, cue the cringing) and had a pretty traumatizing experience. I let Juliana (the woman in the reception) know about this before I came in so they were aware. I will say it did take about a month and a half for me to get a new appointment on their late night, but it was worth it. I met with Dr. Milenbaugh and Paulie ( not sure if this is the correct spelling) and was immediately put at ease. Paulie was calm, cool and collected. She was very reassuring that everything would be okay. And then the doctor, was also very sensitive to my feelings since I was very nervous.He told me everything that was going to happen along the way, and kept asking if i was okay. He was warm, and very friendly. I had to come back for a deep cleaning and a couple small cavities after not going to a dentist for a few years due to my last experience and they made booking an appointment easy (however I will say I did have to leave work in the middle of the day for the procedure due to their hours, but this seems standard for most dentists). I came back for the procedures and I'm not gonna lie, I had a panic attack in the office as they were doing the fillings. Really it was just the needle and the numbing that freaked me out, but the fillings literally were over in minutes and I have had no problems since. The deep cleaning was very thorough and my teeth feel better than I can remember them feeling in a very long time. They also gave me a special antibacterial mouth wash to keep my teeth and gums healthy after the procedure. I am going back for a follow up later this month for just a regular cleaning, and i'm sure my opinion will not change about this office. They also alerted me to an issue that occurred as a result of some work done by the previous dentist that I'd rather know about now instead of later. I appreciate the transparency. This dentist is a great option in the uptown area. They even have a very nice parking lot and are located right above Jake's. Highly suggest, I wish I had found them sooner! read more

Ive never been fond of visiting the dentist, but last week I met with Dr. Milenbaugh and hygienist Paulie (sp?) for my annual checkup and cleaning, and my experience was worth a review. From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed by the receptionist. Then I met Paulie who immediately made me feel at ease. I liked how she explained in detail what was happening, it made me feel calm. At the end of the cleaning, Dr. Milenbaugh checked my teeth and he was very honest on what procedures I needed to have done and the timeframe. My experience here was tragic without even setting foot into their office. I booked several appointments as a new patient and both we cancelled due to overbooking. I sent an email to the office asking to have them remove me from their database and I received an email back from Juliana, with screenshots, that the two latest appointment were cancelled by ME, not them. Well, the latest appointment was cancelled by me because they rescheduled me for a random date and time I was not available. I stoop down to their level and send a screenshot of both voicemail transcripts where they cancel my appointments because the times were not available (booked via their suggested app ZocDoc). She then replies that she's willing to give me a call to explain to me how ZocDoc works. read more

Just had my second of two appointments at Dallas Dental Specialists. Frankly, it was the best experience that I have had with hygentists/oral surgeons/orthodonsits/dentists. Purchased an affordable groupon and was able to book an appointment almost within 2-3 weeks. That's unheard of if you consider the big name dentists up the Tollroad in the traditional old guard of the Dallas dental practices. Last week when I had my teeth cleaned it a very pleasant experience. I was greeted by friendly and courtesous professionals, waited no longer than 10 minutes, and yes, even got to choose my music on pandora. at check-out, i was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices. They will work with you, people so do not be intimidated by not having dental insurance! Today prior to the cavity filling, I was able to score another free toothbrush (they had already obliged me with two last week) and hold the hygentist's hand during cavity drill time. All in all, I paid about $200 total between the groupon, teeth cleaning, x-rays (mine had not been done in years), and one cavity. The only cumbersome thing about this practice is pronouncing Dr Milenbaugh's name...especially with metal devices or hands in your mouth :-) Oh, and here is a secret. If you are sensitive to the floss-shame issue then you have found the practice. no need to pull string between your teeth more than a couple times per week. read more

I have to be honest, I really, REALLY hate going to the dentist. I'm a big wimp and (apparently) have a small mouth. Awkward. That being said, this Dallas Dental Specialists (D.D.S...clever!) is so damn friendly that it's not a terrible way to spend an afternoon. Both Dr. Corbin and the ginger-y female hygienist are not only dental pros, but their customer service skills are out-of-this-world. The receptionist is easily approachable and kind as well. I'll unfortunately be heading back soon to get a crown (yikes), and (full disclosure), a recent filling might not be perfect...but I can't imagine the experience possibly any more positive at ANY other dentist. read more

I have been avoiding the dentist for years because my last experience was so bad. I found Dr Milenbaugh via Yelp and went in for a cleaning. Unfortunately, he found a new cavity and an old filling that had to be replaced. When I returned for that work, I told him I was nervous. He not only made sure I was feeling OK - dang he was FAST! It's taken me a while to find a dentist that I trust, I have had some bad experiences. But finding Dr. Milenbaugh has been a Godsend. I will drive from McKinney to see him and his staff! The office is beautiful with calming energy, beautiful views of the city. Every one on his staff is knowledgeable and kind. He is gentle and explains everything very clearly. He is extremely fair when it comes to charges. They will not rake you over the coals and do anything that isn't necessary to pad their wallets. I am 40 years old and "blessed" with bad genes when it comes to my teeth. As a result...I have had lots of dental work! As an Independent Fitness Trainer...I don't have a dental coverage so I have to be very selective when it comes to choosing a dentist. This is my second semi-major procedure I have had done with Dallas Dental Specialists, and I have never felt so comfortable in a dental chair. Came in for cleaning Pros Check In: -quick check in -neat, clean lobby -streamlined paperwork -explained every charged thoroughly. Cleaning -Ask me if there any particular music I wanted to hear during the cleaning. -hygienist Ali explained step by the step each procedure she was completing -During the procedure checked in several times to make sure that I was comfortable and not in pain. -Gave me recommendation for gum health in a knowledgeable way. Not in a scolding way. Cons -none so far! I have another appointment for more intense procedures. So I will update soon! read more

I just moved to Dallas from out of state and a coworker recommended this dentist. I have never had to pay additional charges on my cleanings/checkups. When I checked out I was charged an additional $35 for "sterilization fee." I had a small cavity and went back to have it filled a few weeks later. Before having the procedure the receptionist reviewed the charges out of pocket. The sheet stated $55. When I went to pay she told me it was $55. Dr Milenbaugh was standing right there and told her not to forget to add the sterilization fee so she added an additional $15. I reviewed my co-workers charges for the same check-up and she wasn't charged the additional fees. Sounds like a scam to me. They are in an in-network provider with my insurance and should not be doing this. I am in the process of reporting them to my insurance. read more

I called my credit card company and said I just wanted to dispute the $60 that I was charged for re-cementing a crown that fell off. The Dental Assistant told me Dr. Milenbaugh never charged for crowns that fell out that he did. It was suggested that I dispute the whole charge, so I did. The crown was supposed to be a Living Social price of $499 and I was told they would continue to honor the Coupon price for any future Crowns if needed. They didn't honor and charged over $1200 but when I complained, the Dentist agreed to lowering it to $820 or so. He was threatening to take me to court, so I wrote him agreeing to pay it and he said no, that he was taking me to court. I had to get an Attorney and turned out, the Dentist's Attorney chose a Judge in Oak Cliff Court. My Attorney told me he should have retired years ago. It's too bad I didn't ask for a Jury. Milenbaugh slandered my name on Yelp's and made it a point to to use my name several times and called me old. He has some bad reviews and I doubt all the so called good reviews are real. After going to another Dentist for XRays, Exam & Cleaning, she informed me that Crown #18, Crown Dr Milenbaugh put on. was not cemented correctly & has a gap. She said the Crown needs to be cut off & replaced with another crown and if left like it is, in addition to a replacement, I might have to have a Root Canal. The cost would be at least $2000. read more

Went here with my sister. If you want the typical Dallas "uptown" dental shop, this is your place. This place is extremely focused on charging as much as possible in the most ambiguous ways. They are generally nice, there was no explanation on charges or what the final bill will be. The doctor spends very little time with you and it overall feels a bit sleezy and not the place you would develop a deep life long dentist to see regularly. I would avoid Dallas Dental Specialist at all costs unless you are desperate and in need of a quick (expensive) fix!! read more

I recently moved to Dallas from out of state and was looking for a dentist. i am always a little hesitant with dentists, as I have had bad experiences (every visit you need some new, expensive procedure done), so I did my homework. After researching and reading reviews, along with consulting friends in the area, I landed on Dallas Dental Specialists in Uptown. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The receptionist was friendly and the dentist, Dr. Milenbaugh, came out to introduce himself to me, as he saw i was a new patient. Within a few minutes, I was lying back and having my teeth cleaned by a very friendly, knowledgeable hygienist. I have porcelain veneers so am very nervous when they do cleaning around them, as I'm paranoid that the veneers will rip off. They hygienist acknowledged by concern and assuaged my fears by going a bit slower around that area. Dr. Mlenbaugh then came back in and did the usual post-cleaning assessment. He is very friendly and open. Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to be a patient here. They are friendly and most importantly, I trust them. read more

Fantastic. Dentist 2.0, the next gen dentist office. Hip, cool, trendy office...not the sleepy old dentist office you're used to. Super friendly staff, extremely accommodating (they asked me for my favorite band and then created a playlist in the room based on my preference). Great location too. State of the art equipment....fancy 360 degree x-ray machine. Ultrasonic plaque scraping tool that made it way less uncomfortable (Peizon or something like that). Didn't protest or give me a hard time when I requested laughing gas (yep, I'm a chicken). Hygenist (Ali) was a rock star...did a great job....didn't give me a hard time for not coming in for way too long. And Dr. Milenbaugh was pleasant, friendly, complimentary....competent. Gave helpful feedback, but basically just said, 'good job, way to have good hygiene.' And best of all....they didn't try to sell me a bunch of stuff or procedures I didn't need. Been there done that with too many dentists. Dr. Milenbaugh is legit, totally honest, good solid guy. I definitely have a new dentist for a good long time. read more

I hate to write bad reviews, but I feel that I needed to do this. I called Dallas Dental Specialists today with a Dental emergency. My crown had fallen down and it needed to be re-cement. I have worked in the dental field for over 30 years, and I have never encounter anyone with so much disregard for people as the person who answered the phone today, the Dr. is so busy that he will not be available until a week later. This is not a way to treat a patient who has an emergency, maybe this is your office policy, but it is WRONG. read more

I have been going to Dr. Milenbaugh for a couple years now, and I wanted to share my latest experience because I really appreciate how much he cares about me. I travel a lot for work and just happen to be in South America. Unfortunately one of my teeth just cracked and panicking is an understatement for me. I called the office and he got on the phone to comfort me, and even called a dentist in Buenos Aires to accommodate me to temporary fix my tooth until I return to the states Friday. He's even going to meet me at the office on his day off to repair everything. I did not have a good experience here. It wasn't completely horrible but it led me to find a new dentist after one visit. My dad is a dentist & my mom is a dental hygienist so I'm very aware of what goes on during a typical cleaning/exam. They were not very thorough during my exam. Also, my cleaning was really painful which has never happened to me before! The doctor and staff were nice (so 2 stars) but that's not the only thing that will keep me as a patient. Thankfully Dental House down the street is in network with my new insurance and I can return to them (I had to leave them a year and half ago due to insurance reasons). read more

I have been seeing Dr Milenbaugh for well over a year now. I came to him with veneers that we're falling off from years of abuse-I'm a grinder and extremely hard on my teeth. Dr Milenbaugh laid out a program for me to replace my old dental work and get my bite aligned. He has now put me in a mouth guard to protect my new dental work. By the way, I am Extremely picky about the way my teeth look. He listened to what I wanted and worked hard to satisfy my needs visually by shaping my teeth to my liking,while making sure my bite was perfect. I am a hard man to please, just ask the doctor lol.
