They claimed to have tried calling and leaving voicemails to request my insurance information, but I had no missed calls or messages. So grateful I had read these reviews before I went I thought I would be OK because I was just getting a cleaning and it should've been totally covered by my insurance. Like others I was told I needed a deep clean because of gum disease even though I've been going to a very reputable dentist twice a year for years and had never been told that-they did my cleaning that day, but when I went back for another cleaning six months later, I was told they could not do it unless I got the deep cleaning they said it would be negligent for them to do a regular cleaning on me -I walked out and found another dentist that was well recommended, went in and got a cleaning the next day because they had a cancellation. I asked about my gum health and they said it was good which was what I have always been told just to keep flossing and brushing as normal. I feel like this place is such a bait and switch. This office has gone downhill since their main dentist, Dr. Yost left. Their bedside manner has declined significantly and I have experienced them trying to upsell and suggest treatment plans that were not necessary. While I've had multiple poor experiences that led me to find a new dentist, I'll focus on two: 1) Went in for cleaning. They reacted harshly and claimed I had late stages of gum disease. I had been in just 6mo. prior with Dr. Yost and had no mention of this. The new staff gave urgency claiming the only way to reverse was to immediately go on hyper-cleaning plan every 3 months costing hundreds out of pocket each visit. The also did x-rays and found "multiple cavities". They additionally requested a saliva test to detect bacteria levels, that I paid for, and then they never followed up to talk through results. I declined all treatment that day and got a second opinion elsewhere. The second opinion dentist office said my gums and teeth looked great without any sign of recession, bacteria, or cavities. So I suppose this means NE Dallas Dentistry was being untruthful? That seems unethical, but I don't know how else to spin it. 2) Prior to the above experience, I had needed a filling. Their technician was newer and dropped the filling down my throat twice. Both times I had to work it up and spit it out. After the second time, I asked for the doctor and they came in immediately apologizing. That filling never quite set right and I can feel it protruding and grinding when I close my jaw. I would NOT recommend this dentist. There are plenty of great offices elsewhere in the area. I suggest you avoid NE Dallas Dentistry if possible. read more

They recommend it $1000 plus cleaning for my teeth and told me I had gum disease. I am a regular at the dental office and in order to get a cleaning at the regular pricing I had to do the recommended cleaning which was north of $1000. They just took $59 from me to fulfill their new patient pricing. We spoke in person and by phone after they dismissed me. The team seem pretty incompetent of how to conduct business, as they threw their sister facility under the bus about another misdiagnosis. That facility recommended a full root canal...WOW. Yet, they insisted on another completely not needed procedure. But didn't allow me to opt out to do a general cleaning. No real work was done to see any visual bleeding of my gums, but as part of the "spill"- the programming they have in this case was just a script to hustle ppl out of money. I literally heard the woman say that there was "bleeding" of my gums. I paid the $59 and walked out. Word of advice, don't mention the new patient cost to them. Cause they will default to their reasoning for not cleaning your teeth, which is in the fine print. read more

I am particular with my teeth due to having a lot of dental work done (braces, bone graph, implant, veneer). My husband and I recently moved here and were new patients. We walked into the office and waited about 10 minutes to be checked in, no biggie. I had xrays done (the most angles I've ever had taken), had pictures taken of my teeth, and then taken to a cleaning room. The dentist came in and reviewed my xrays with me, looked and graded my gums and went over those results too. She recommended a normal cleaning. Then the front desk lady checked my insurance to ensure my insurance covered it. For my xrays and cleaning I owed $0. (Finally, insurance pays off!) My dental hygienist was very sweet and gentle. My cleaning was done pretty quickly and my teeth felt great! I was impressed with the cleanliness of the office, the kindness and professionalism of the staff, and that they reviewed my insurance before proceeding with the cleaning. We will definitely be back! My wife and I had relocated to the Dallas area and were in search of a dentist when we found Olivia Santillan with Northeast Dallas Dentistry. At the beginning everything seemed good...everyone on the team was nice and we thought we had found a decent place to manage our dental needs. NOT SO FAST. WOWSERS. What we quickly came to realize was the inept and frankly careless dental qualities of both Santillan...and even more so the endodontist this location utilizes. Consequently, as I came to have a concern that my dental health, if not my overall health, could be compromised by continuing with this dentist, both my wife and I have left this dental office for a more competent situation. Further, I am still in the investigative stage of getting opinions by other dental professionals to determine if I will need to pursue any reconciliatory accommodation. Hopefully, a legal recourse won't be necessary. Why all this you may ask? As I had shared with Dr. Santillan in the beginning, I come from a large extended family that includes more than 10 doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists and hospital administrator executives. Thus, one comes to even better understand the dynamics of good versus bad as it relates to medical and/or dental skillsets, especially, over a lifetime of experience. During my last with Dr. Santillan she was numbing my gum area in preparation for adding a filling to a damaged tooth. During this process Santillan penetrated so deep with the needle that she literally pierced into my sinus cavity...which then shot procaine up through my sinus channel, into my nasal passages and then it started to run down the top of my throat. It truly was a bit frightening as the top of my throat area started to numb up and I started to feel like I couldn't swallow...or if I could I couldn't feel myself do it as it had numbed up. I jumped up out of my chair and told Santillan I needed to go to the restroom, as admittedly, it was kind of scary to say the least! CARELESSNESS AT BEST. MALPRACTICE AT WORST. Further, when getting a root canal with their endodontist, at the same office, even though I was numbed up for the procedure, at one point when he was doing something with a tool, I felt a something bump hard up against my upper gum on the inside. Immediately the endodontist said, "sorry about that". He obviously had slipped with this tool, slammed into the side of my upper gum and literally turned a small part of the gum area into a surface resembling shredded meat. I am NOT exaggerating...NO hyperbole here. Not only do I have the obvious proof that still exist in my mouth today, but I can feel it every moment of every day when my tongue brushes up against the ragged gum area that the endodontist compromised. CARELESSNESS AT BEST. MALPRACTICE AT WORST. In my last visit with Olivia Santillan, after she had compromised my sinus cavity with procaine, she knew very well of the bad experience she put me through, and knowing I'm from a medical family just casually said, "if you find anything out (with regard to the penetrating of my sinus cavity) to please let me know". In other words, she was either clueless this mistake could happen...(Google it...others have had similar bad experiences) or she was trying to act like it was really nothing and was playing dumb. Regardless, through it all, I was very kind to her and to her entire team, both before and after this bad experience. I even responded by telling her if I received any feedback or got any additional info for what had happened that I would let her know. So, guess what? As she and I had been connected on LinkedIn for a long while and as I was trying to be nice and reach out to her confidentially, so as to not embarrass her before her team, I sent her a message with what I had learned up to that point, as she had requested. Guess what she did? Her response was no response and she blocked me on LinkedIn! At first I was shocked but then realized...hey, this is a young immature dentist who is really, really bad at her craft, who knew she had screwed up and just wanted to run and hide. I even told her in that message that all was good and to please just learn from this experience and get better as we all make mistakes along this journey called life. At that point I assumed my gum would heal back up over time. It hasn't...now I'm wondering if a skin graft or something will be required. My wife, who is a nurse manager/director of 40 years summed it up well when she said, "Olivia Santillan is young and how she blocked me and handled the overall situation was a rookie mistake". Not only was she incredibly unprofessional via her expertise in the field of dentistry, but she also was very unprofessional in her customer service and overall conflict management skills. Well apparently when you go to the dentist here you will need to take out a loan to get your teeth cleaned. When I inquired about a basic cleaning, I was met with the statement that "We decide what kind of cleaning you need and then proceed from there". I should have known that this was code for Hey we're going to charge you a whole lot of money for your cleaning. It's interesting, I've been going to dentists for about 40 years now and have never been told that and pay for a basic cleaning and xrays which costs a whole lot less. Long story short, WITH INSURANCE I HAD TO PAY OVER $900 OUT OF POCKET. WITHOUT INSURANCE IT WOULD HAVE COST ME $3000. In addition, this practice wanted me to come back every two months so they can of course extract more money unnecessarily from me and other patients. Needless to say I am furious about the lack of honesty and exorbitant cost of what has always been a routine practice. I only waited 5 minutes before being taken to the back for a cleaning/exam. Everyone is really friendly and makes you feel comfortable no matter the status of your dental hygiene. They walk you through everything, explaining thoroughly what and why they are doing whatever it is they may be doing. This was my first experience with a Dentist in the US. The service was excellent, I made my appointment online and the next day they called me to verify the info and to asked me some questions about my insurance. I got there 30 min earlier and it was perfect because I have to fill out some forms. Then they took x-rays of my teeth and some photos. Also they took some measurements of my gums. I went because I had a "broken premolar" and for the routine cleaning. Dr. Santillan was super professional and carefully made the cleaning until they were sparkling clean. I am really excited to have been referred to this dental office by a close friend of mine. I left the dentist that is just down the road from me, because they don't have an accommodating schedule for real life! But that's another story... I called this new dental office and they offered me a time the next day at 7AM, so I wouldn't eat into too much of my workday. Really awesome! The staff was so nice and seemed to still be getting the hang of certain things (as any new office does), but how they treated me was so warm and friendly that I barely noticed. Oh, they also offer payment plans for when you need to space larger payments out that aren't covered by insurance (anything cosmetic). I also got a gift since I am a new patient...it was awesome! Not only did I get a welcome kit (water bottle, manual toothbrush and toothpaste), but I was also given an electric toothbrush! What???? It was perfect because while I was being seen by the dentist, she suggested an electric toothbrush to counteract some gum line issues I was dealing with using my manual toothbrush. I started looking on Amazon...right before I pushed "buy", she came in with the gift! My dentist knew about my teeth sensitivity and prescribed me special toothpaste. I'm excited to use it! I've never had a dentist take that sort of initiative to hear me! She also heard me when I told her that when I get cavities filled, numbing shots don't register easily with me, so she added a bit more to make sure I was comfortable. And I was! Clean office, very well kept. Always a huge plus. Parking is easy. Plenty of spaces, btw. And you can never go wrong being across the street from a Target. Yes, I definitely went there afterwards. She has gone here for the past few years and had great things to say. She was not wrong. They were so easy to work with, the entire staff was friendly, didn't judge, and was up front and not pushy with the work that needed to be done. Went in with a toothache that turned out to be infected. Was never treated so rudely. The girl at the front desk said she could not "verify my coverage" and wouldn't lift a finger to do anything else. I went to Jefferson Dental Clinic 5 minutes away and they verified everything they needed within 15 minutes. Northeast was incompetent and rude at the same time. If you have dentist phobia like I do, you need to come here! Everyone is so kind and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you are doing good and not in pain. I just had a scaling (deep clean) and irrigation done and my mouth doesn't hurt. I opted for the numbing gel since I hate needles and I will always opt for that from now on. The dentist was rude, judgmental and chastised me constantly. I was in a lot of pain and not only did I have to walk out due to her constant disrespect but she didn't want to help me in a way that fit my needs. She insists on milking me for as much money as possible when a second dentist said she was not only extremely wrong but very unprofessional for trying to push a surgery on me that was not necessary at all. I wore my high visibility orange shirt from work to the dentist as I had to leave work to visit the dentist because I was in so much pain. My wife always says not to because she's a medical student and doctors tend to be extremely judgmental of construction workers. Turns out it's true. She's classist and looked at me as if I was a lowly, drug addicted, disgusting second rate citizen. I have great insurance, a great job and a middle class life. Don't judge a book by its cover.
