The Dallas Karting Complex is far from Dallas, but I'd say, worth the drive! I would recommend going as soon as this place opens on the weekends because it gets packed fast! We arrived around 10:30 AM (they opened at 10 AM) and the place was already busy! By the time we finished checking in, paying, and completing our first race (~around 11 AM) the place was so busy! You're required to buy a head cover for sanitary reasons. The helmets were clean, but I used the Small sized ones so I'd imagine those do not get used as frequently! The track was fun! Overall the track is nice, the dads had fun but some of the cars are slow/fast and well, they need to somehow get them balanced. If you come, request another kart other than 72, we watched a couple of races and this kart was given to different drivers and they all landed in 18th place by the end of the race. The entire staff inside and outside were extremely friendly and even though the line was long for a Friday night. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. As many reviews have pointed out (going back 13 years!!), the customer service here is atrocious and the owner and managers in particular are incredibly rude. The prices are insane and everything is at the owner's "discretion." One weekend, they might charge people $30 to spend a full day on the track and the next weekend charge you $200 (plus taxes of course) for less than an hour of track time. If you ask why there is no consistency with rates (every other karting track in the US has established rates, so there are no surprises - and that is generally no more than $100-$125 for a full practice day), the owner might (will) tell you "It's like going to the grocery store. The prices aren't the same every time you go." Huh??? What an absurd non-answer. It's clear that everyone in management at this track thinks of their customers as idiots, and they are just trying to see how much they can scam out of you. Do not waste your money or time here. Drive 4 hours to Speedsportz in Houston and it'll still be a better value for your money and you'll deal with people who actually know something about customer service and you won't feel completely scammed. I have been to many kart tracks across the country, and I have never experienced a track as poorly run as this one. 0/10 do not recommend DKC. Edit to add: the safety here is non-existent. Despite charging such exorbitant prices, we had rental karts break through barriers on one track and drive onto the other TWICE in one day during a pro-race. The first time it happened, it was when 9-13 year olds were driving on the pro-track and they just narrowly avoided hitting the rental kart. Thankfully, the 9-13 year olds are more professional and aware than the adults running the place. The owner claimed this had "never happened in his 15 years of owning the track." He then proceeded to blame the driver of the rental kart (an amateur! That's the point of rental karts!) and kicked him out. SURPRISINGLY, despite this never having happened in 15 years, it happened AGAIN later in the same day. Maybe they should be spending some of that money they gain through price-gouging on safety at the track instead of tropical vacations for their owner. But what do I know? read more

I was excited to try this place, although a bit anxious/skeptical about the very fast karts. I reassured myself that certainly there must be multiple safety precautions for them to be able to run this place. The "safety briefing" was terrible-I have had better safety briefings from kid's laser tag than I had from this place. A 60-90 second very casual and very fast blurb that told me that "green pedal is go, red pedal is stop" "try not to brake on turns" "raise your hands if you get stuck" and that's about it. We tried to ask additional questions but the guy responded "you'll see what we mean". Great... I hesitantly started driving my kart-I was basically prepared to just hang on for dear life and hope nothing went wrong because Lord knows the safety blurb guy probably wouldn't be too keen to help me. Then, of course, I was the one to get stuck after someone in front of me braked fast and I spun out then ended up off the track. I raised my hands for five minutes (the course is ten minutes long) in the 100 degree sun. Shocker, nobody saw me. No staff was even on the track. The staff at the beginning of the track didn't see me. Finally, after raising my hands for what felt like eternity, a staff member came over and gave a small yank on my kart, which wasn't even enough to get me back on the course, I was still stuck due to the kart's horrible turn radius. I then hollered for him to come back. He came back and gave the kart another haphazard yank, and lo and behold I was off, only to be met by the black and white waving flag which means the race is over. This place is it. Karts are fast and the track is fun. About 12-15 people race at a time. Awesome place for birthdays or events. I'd recommended at least 2 races for small groups. And for big parties I'd recommend 3 or 4. Sad thing is that's it's way out of the way on the far east side of Dallas out in the country. Wish I didn't live closer to ft worth. read more

The karts themselves were as fast as advertised! We went on a Monday mid-day to take advantage of the $15 races! With having to pay for random misc fees and whatnot it ended up being more expensive than we thought for about 5-10 minutes of racing. We also had to wait for a solid 1-2 hours to even get on the track -- there's no way to book ahead and other than completing the waiver online you have to be in person to get on the list. They do give you a safety briefing but teenagers AND ADULTS will ram into you without getting flagged. read more

I recently had the pleasure of attending my first ever karting experience and I had an absolute blast! First, let me say that this was a corporate event, and my company had a private rental of the whole place, so I did not pay nor did I have to wait. From what I saw, the normal prices do seem to be pricey, however this is an expensive activity, so nothing surprising there. The staff was all very professional, safe, and helpful. During my first two runs, I had some issues with my car not recording lap times, so I got black flagged on the course and they had me get into another car. Turns out that car also had issues! I was put into a 3rd car and it finally worked. It wasn't a huge deal for me as I was just having fun, but the staff went out of their way to make sure everything was good to go. All the safety rules were explained to us, and the helmets were in working order. The facility was also clean and professional-looking. All in all I had an absolute blast and would consider returning on my own! read more

The fastest go-karts in Texas. This place lives up to the hype, with multiple go-kart options ranging from 30mph for the kids all the way up to 85+mph for advanced adults. Wait-times can get a little long on weekends, but no problem hopping right on the track during week-days. Specials are often posted on their facebook page for fans. Here's a real review of the place. Took us about 50 mins to get there but it was worth the gas. It's out in the middle of nowhere as you can imagine. FWIW, there's also an 1/8 mile drag strip down the street from this facility. The facility itself is nice and clean. The first thing to do is register into the system via computers to the left upon entrance. Then you go pay for however many heats you want. The more you buy the more you save. It's roughly $25 for every heat and every heat is 10 mins. On average this equates to about 6 or 7 laps on their 0.8 mile track. After the drive, you can go back inside to the cool a/c to retrieve your results print out. This tells you your best lap time and your position due to said time out of the twelve competitors. This place is busy so expect to wait if you have a large group. There was only four of us and we had to wait three hours because we wanted to drive and compete together. To put its popularity into perspective, 3,000 different souls have already been on the asphalt track since they opened in late May. Their carts are decent but they're not as fast as the advertisement makes them out to be. You can't reach 60 let alone 40 mph. on this track due to the turns. They hyped up the acceleration feel to more than it is. My suggestion is not to wear any clothes you don't mind getting dirt and gasoline on. The attendants who refill gas into the karts spill it all over the seats and don't even wipe it half the time. I witnessed this several times. Bottom line: Would I go back? Yes. Although expensive and time consuming, it's worth it if you have a large group of five or more. read more

This is an experience you'll talk about. A race may last 10 minutes but you'll talk about it and remember it forever. Dallas Karting Complex is crazy fun and crazy fast. Back in the day Malibu GrandPrix (Speedzone) was the pinnacle racing experience available to the average Joe. Dallas Karting blows them away. There is no comparison. A number of reviewers make note of the price (complain) but it's impossible to find a better hands on racing experience for the money. It's worth the $25 regular price. But look for the off hour midweek $15 race specials. The $25 regular price tag is very reasonable when you compare racing at DKC to other extreme sporting experiences available, such as skydiving, bungee jumping, shooting a machine gun, hang gliding or a redneck favorite crushing a car with a monster truck. The speed of these karts alone makes this an extreme sporting experience with all the thrills and adrenalin. Add a few other racers to the mix and you've gone to a new level of extreme sporting experience. The first night my 23 year son and I sent to DKC we were the only 2 people on the track during our first racing session. Watch out for that turn they warn you about it's a killer. I never saw it coming. The second and third race, 2 other racers were on the track. We both picked some pointer by following them around the track. We were prepared to race more than three times, I was willing to pay for both of us but three races was more than enough for him and this old man. We talked about our experience the whole way home and for days afterwards. Be prepared for a fast and fun time, maybe a spin out or two, hopefully the thrill of victory and a few stiff achy muscles from the G-force. read more

Dallas Karting Complex is VERY fun the first time or two that you go out there, and would almost be 5 star for the first few trips if it were actually close to Dallas. The Karts are fast relative to a place like speedzone, the place is very clean and well set up. And there is something for everyone. The prices aren't too terrible for what you're getting either. Now for the negatives: after visiting a few times and getting a handle on the karts, you realize that your lap time and competitiveness depend heavily on the kart you receive. Some (many) of the karts are beat up pretty bad, and in a lap time based race, you can be completely screwed by a slow kart. They also don't seem to get on to the morons that consistently go off track and try to rejoin right in the middle of a traffic at an incorrect angle. This is probably a contributor to some of the damage. I will still try to make a visit from time to time, but am not quite as motivated as before. This is what brings the review down to 3 stars. Overall, if you have never been, I strongly suggest a visit...You will not regret it. If you have been a few times, you know exactly what I'm talking about. read more

I was pretty tense during my first race, but by the second race, I had memorized some of the turns and was getting faster and faster. By my third race, I was passing other karts. We nmy husband's 44th birthday with a group of friends so this place is fun for kds and adults as well. It's well worth the drive from Dallas. Way better than Speed Zone. read more

Dallas Karting Complex is about the coolest thing to do near Rockwall. Then again, it's so much fun that it's worth the drive from just about anywhere in Texas or Oklahoma. The karts go 65mph, and you can definitely feel it on the opening straightaway. There are several levels of karts, and you can actually earn the opportunity to rent even faster race level karts by getting certain times in the rental. Pricing has actually come down quite a bit since they opened, and they've added a snack bar which makes things even better. Day or night, hot or cold, they seem to be open as long as it isn't raining. Let the tires heat up a bit before you start throwing the kart into hard turns, it'll give you better traction. Be aware, the lighter you are the faster your kart will go. Weight makes all the difference, and try to get a kart with good fresh tires if you can. If you want a road racing experience without spending a ton of money and taking several driving classes, you definitely need to hit up Dallas Karting Complex. They have rooms you can rent to so parties and group get togethers are a breeze! read more

This place really blows the other indoor racing places out of the water. The standard karts for adults here goes up to 60 mph and they even have ones available that goes up to 85 mph! I was hesitant at first about coming here and driving 60 mph in a kart with no doors but I quickly realize you can only go that fast on the straightaway, so unless you do something insane on purpose, it is relatively safe. Their track is actually quite challenging and it'll take you a few laps before you figure out your ideal lines and braking points. And at 10 minutes a race, hopefully you'll be able to do quite a few laps! I did have a problem with two of the karts I was in (with the seat in one, and the other died in the middle of the race) but the staff just replaced the kart for me relatively quickly. Overall, this place is really fun and will satisfy your inner motor head. I'll be back! read more

Dallas karting complex is serious! If you want to go fast and drive skillfully for the best time while passing chumps in the bends this is the place for you. The carts will fit most anyone as the seat and the pedals are both adjustable. I was thinking 60mph karts would be fast and dangerous but I doubt they hit lower 50's down the straight and they are surprisingly forgiving. After being tboned in the fastest corner I realized there's nothing to worry about when it comes to safety. I got pretty aggressive and was jumping some of the curbs and pit maneuvering slower drivers out of my way. I'm not sure that's an approved tactic but it sure was fun! This place would have 5 stars if they didn't cost so damn much. Races that ended up being 8.5 mins long cost $25 on their standard 60mph kart that pretty much everyone runs on. The 70mph carts were crazy expensive and while it would have been nice to drive something with some get up and go it's not worth the money IMO. read more

This place in the middle of nowhere has some great adult entertainment (and I'm not talking the sexy kind) with gokarts that can go 60+ miles an hour and it's only $15 for every 10 minutes of racing. If you're a good enough driver, you can qualify to get on even faster karts (they have three levels). What stops this place from being 5 stars for me is the price of those faster karts. An absolute blast! A simple setup for those who just want to have fun and race, you can just show up and drive, they can provide everything for single flat rates per race (kart, helmet, etc). Also, they have a lot of options for the serious racer, and those who have their own karts. Being right off of I-30 makes it a quick trip from nearly anywhere in the North Dallas area. It's is right next door to the Redline Raceway drag strip, for those who have been out there. Also a plus is that you can stop at Taco Casa on the way to grab the best fast food Tacos in the world. They haven't been open long but already have nice facilities and availability of food, drinks, shade outside, cold A/C inside, and a repair shop. You do get a bit dirty from dust and smoke, so I'd bring a change of clothes for later. The course itself is really nice. Quite technical for those who like to practice their skills, but still fun enough for the average person to have fun and not be discouraged. They also reverse the course clockwise and counterclockwise each day so you can have a completely different course depending on the day you go. If you just show up to have fun, you generally get 10 minute races in which a decent driver will normally get 6-7 laps. The normal karts you get are quite fast. On the longest straight you easily reach 50-60mph depending on how you turn into the straightaway. The are bogged at low rpm with the gearing, so you gotta keep in mind to keep that rpm up and plan throughout your turns. Don't let the speed discourage you or your friends, they are quite safe and even the most timid people end up having so much fun. Good for kids, as well as guys and girls! They have a electronic system in which you register yourself as a driver and you can track your lifetime progress from their website and see your standings. After each race you get a print out for braggings rights if you go in a group of friends. On a less busy day, you can get a race in nearly every 20-30 minutes. Even on the less busy days you should plan to be there at least 4 hours, and if you really like racing then the $150 all day pass is definetely worth it. My favorite is to show up bright and early, and then race all day long. If you just want to pay for individual races they have packages where you save on the more you buy at a time, $90 will normally get you quite a few hours of fun! If you or a friend has a GoPro Camera, I'd highly recommend bringing it and grabbing some video while you are racing. I mount mine to my helmet, and we even had a great time watching the racing playback at home later. read more

Think need for speed on the xbox but in real life. 70+ mph shifter carts that sit 1" off the ground across a well built, long winding track. If you have the ability to go during weekday afternoon hours during school season, you can usually have the track to yourself. If not, you can expect to wait awhile between races. Once you get signed in, and have paid for your races, you hang around in the lobby or outside until they call your race. They do have a snack bar with the usual snack bar food you would expect to find at a little league baseball game. The staff are friendly and more than willing to give some racing pointers. They do require you to wear full safety gear which they supply, helmet, gloves, and neck brace. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

This is a review of my most recent trip to DKC. I've been twice before. Facility maintenance has been neglected. In my previous visits I was surprised at the cleanliness and shine everything seemed to have. Unfortunately the new has worn off and it is showing age much to prematurely. The rentals have been rode hard and abused daily as expected, and they have aged rapidly as well. My biggest disappointment was the poor attitude of the staging lane personnel. With the level of expense to race, customer service is pertinent for repeat customers. One of the drivers in a previous heat left the race surface and ran a kart through a mud hole, splashing mud and water all over the kart. Instead of pulling that kart aside and simply washing it off with a water hose, it was left in line right alongside the other carts. I was assigned the mud covered cart and was told to "just live with it" upon my inquiry to have it cleaned off. I would've gladly waited and been left out of the current heat to prevent getting mud all over myself and the other drivers that would surely be assigned to the same kart after me. I'm not afraid to get mud on myself, it happens. My frustration is in response to the poor customer service. I've spent well over $1,000.00 at this place since it opened. Unfortunately they won't get another cent of my money. But I'm sure they can survive without my $. Bottom line, it's a go-kart facility. Karts are better than most, prices are reflective of the expense it takes to build and operate such a facility. If only it were done with the paying customer in mind.... read more
