A few months later I started showing, and subsequently - fast forward to December of 2024 - I bought my first horse with Hannah's help. Hannah has made me feel incredible comfortable in a completely new world. She knows her stuff and looks after the horses incredibly well. I always love my time at the barn and Hannah has helped me push myself to improve. She is an incredible riding instructor and trainer, and I truly can't recommend her enough. She has made fall in love with the sport - that also helped me through some pretty challenging personal times. Highly recommend if you are looking for a family like barn experience.

Hannah is extremely patient and kind and has helped me along in my very short riding journey. I value her as a trainer and friend so much! She is extremely compassionate and understanding. She will never make you feel bad about your riding, rather provides positive feedback and a plan of action for improving at your pace. The barn is like a second family. From the horses, the riders, and their families, Laurel Ridge Stables has really created a safe space focused around community, determination and good sportsmanship. I always joke saying I'm healing my inner child but it's true. Working with Hannah and the horses have changed my life. This barn is a show barn, so the barn participates in shows in/out of state (mainly in Texas). I started showing this year and it's such a fun way to get more involved and work towards a goal. No matter how young or old, there's always room! The lesson program is wonderful and each horse has something to teach (just be sure to say thank you and give lots of treats)!The horses are all well taken care of and barn is beautiful. There is an outdoor bathroom on site and a sink to wash your hands. If you thought about horseback riding and didn't know if it was possible, please know it's completely feasible and worth it! He was very patient and approachable for any questions we had. The trail ride was 50 minutes through a scenic forest near the Trinity River. It is a very relaxing ride with very gentle horses there is a small obstacle course in the middle of the trail that makes it extra fun. Each writer is matched with an equal size horse for safety. You must let them know if anyone is over 200 pounds. I will definitely be back with family.

When we arrived we signed the consent forms in the office and were walked to the area where we got on the horses. We got a quick safety lesson and then we used their mounting steps to get on the horses. I really appreciated this because I'm very short and I was nervous about being able to get on and off safely. The trail ride was the perfect length. We went at 130pm on a 90 degree day and were comfortable because of all the shade throughout the ride. There are some large fields with no trees though so if it's super hot there will be times when the sun is too much. Our trail guide Isaiah was phenomenal and always warned us when there were low trees or areas to avoid. All in all, highly recommend. At $60/person it was also super affordable.
