However, the abalone and crab legs were limited per plate. Food quality was average. Ambience was busy, lots of people during dinnertime. Whole restaurant is super spacious. Everything is self service. Grab plates, foods, drinks yourself. Only thing they help you with is grabbing dirty plates off your tables. Overall food was really average for a pretty high price. After scouting the area, I went to try some of the rolls but I don't know their names because I didn't see the names. I only tried 2 kinds they were just okay hmm 3/5. My guy and I were on a search for a good seafood buffet while in San Francisco, since we couldn't go to Supreme Crab (see review for details), and found this gem, Daly Buffet. Luckily it was a week day and we stopped in for dinner. The staff is very friendly, and didn't give our service dog any kind. They treated him as the extension of his human that he is, and that's awesome! Was happy to learn that an Asian buffet had return to the location. If memory serves correctly it was Todai, MC Skewer and Kome--all of which were buffets. Ever since Kome closed down I was hoping something would return in this post-pandemic era. Enter Daly Buffet. WOOOH!!!! My party of six arrived at 11:00 am on a Friday and it was already packed. A very good sign. Lunch was around $30 and I was thinking it was probably worth it. It was. After our party was sat, this guy made a beeline to the sushi section. They had rows of food like sushi , seafood , chow mein, and lots of deserts. Today's buffet landscape in SF is centered around one type of food and it's usually has a time limit. Currently you have to go out of San Francisco County to try a bigger buffet experience. So I had to go next door to San Mateo County and went to a place which was a buffet place called Kome . It's now called Daly Buffet in Daly City on Junipero Serra. Outside of San Francisco I landed in Daly City at Daly Buffet on the boulevard of Junipero Serra. There are lots of tables and the wait can be 30 minutes when I arrived for lunch. Inside there is hella food. You will find everything from sushi, noodles, ice cream, and dim sum . You can also find different types of fruits and also seafood. They have quantity and the food is fresh but it won't win any Michelin awards. Like most buffets it has a time limit and it's 90 minutes. Come here for Brunch or Dunch if you have an appetite. I've been here several times with my family before. We usually go here for dinner, but I've been here for lunch once. There's usually a 30 minute wait if you go here during dinner hours, but if you go here for lunch then there's not much of a wait. This buffet has a large variety of food, but they don't always have the same items everyday. Like, I noticed sometimes they have the chocolate fountain and sometimes they don't. The chocolate fountain is actually one of my favorite parts about this buffet, so it's sad on the days it's not there. Other than the chocolate fountain, I do like how they have a drink section with both fountain and bottled drinks and how there's a teppanyaki grill, and noodles section too! Buffets are always an eat at your own risk ordeal. But for $45/PP it was NOT worth it. I came in on a weekday dinner and MOST of their sushi were left out all day, fresh batch was never remade. Meats were all gone because people kept taking more than allowed. Only thing that was fresh there were fruits and their oysters. Those items kept getting restocked. The soup area was just ok, the broth was VERY salty but better than all the foods that were provided. Skip the dim sum unless u are there during opening so it's fresh. The hot dishes are mostly either very spicy, heavily fried, or covered in sauce, which tends to mask the natural flavor of the meat, not really my preference. There's also a selection of dim sum, desserts, fruits, and sushi (though I skipped the sushi since it didn't look very appetizing). The drink options are fairly varied, which is a plus. Asian centered buffet in Daly City at what I think used to be Todai back in the day, located next to Century Theaters. There is a huge parking garage connected to the building for parking. Attended a party here where they reserved the back dining room which was nice, they had TVs and they provided tables for our gifts and favors. Service was great; this is an all Asian buffet with Japanese, sushi and sashimi, soups, make your own mala tang, choose your own meats to bbq, tons of Chinese food, frogs legs, dim sum, you name it! They have a fridge where you can get your own bottled drinks too. Tons of dessert and ice cream! Good bang for your buck, the only thing is if you're allergic to seafood. We had some people at our party that was allergic to seafood so make your own mala tang you had to be careful because of the contamination of seafood items to make or throw into the soup. My friend got soup but found a clam so she couldn't eat it and had to be very careful. For drinks, there's a drink station area where they have a selection of sodas, drinks in the fridge, coffee, and tea. I thought it was unique that they have a malatang station. I definitely had to check it out. It wasn't bad but it was just super salty o.o I think that they need to add more soup to make it less salty. I liked that they had potato noodles yum. I was excited to try out the clams and it was quite bland. I went to try the bbq station where they cook the meat for you. I got the short ribs and ribeye. The short ribs were very sweet and fatty. I could only eat one and the ribeye was just ok. It was quite thin and it was a bit overcooked. I liked that they had a dark chocolate fondue station and a self serve packaged ice cream area. I thought I got a bad packaged ice cream since it was very mushy. I just took it out of the fridge, but I checked out the other ones in the fridge and it was the same as well. Nowadays, getting full on malatang elsewhere easily costs around $30, so I think the value here is unbeatable. I got two pieces of salmon nigiri and a couple of pieces of California rolls. The salmon was fresh and didn't look dry, which was a plus. Next, I tried some of the hot vegetable dishes. I had the broccoli, green beans, and mixed lotus root slices. I was surprised they didn't have a station serving roast duck, roast pork, and chicken. Another thing I tried was the DIY stir-fry station, where I selected some noodles and extra cabbage. It was delicious and not too salty, which I liked. I didn't try much else because I was already full. They also have a drink area with a variety of canned and bottled beverages available, in addition to fountain drinks. It was my first time dining at Daly Buffet and it was a pleasant surprise. We had our club function here with 51 senior over 65 adults. We were given the back room which we took over 6 tables for 8 to 9 people at each table. We had reservations at 11:00am when the food was fresh. Parking was very easy in the lot. I was looking forward to some sashimi but they only had nigiri. There was also no ha gaw or sui mai. I was impressed that there was a beverage station that offered bottled water, bottled tea, fountain drinks and coffee. There was also individual containers of ice cream - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Some of our people made root beer or Coke Floats. Onto the food. The pig trotters needed to be cooked Longer. The chicken feet were excellent. They even had tripe in the dim sum area. The black lava bun was nice and had some egg yolk custard in it. There was some fresh lychee - very juicy. Their naw mai fon or sticky rice was delicious. The small little tamale had some red bean mixed with rice. The cost per person for this luncheon which is offered Monday to Friday was $26.99. A lot of stuff are missing at lunch like snow crab and short ribs. The items I did like are fountain drinks, prawn crackers, malatang soup station and stir fry station. The rest are forgettable, but at least it is all you can eat. Do you remember when Kome got hit with massive fines for wage theft and tax evasion in 2019? Then the owners rebranded it as The One. Excited to try out this buffet and to see how it compares to the previous Todai Buffet. First the layout is pretty much the same. However, there is the addition of the Korean Bbq and a section for help yourself beverages. Lots of flavored bottled teas in the fridge. The BBQ section can take time. First, pick your meats. Short ribs is limited to 2 only. Place the plate on the counter and the staff will help you BBQ it. However, this does take about 5 mins depending on the line. The staff separates the veggies and meats and when they are done, they put the plated food on the top of the counter. Beware, if you do not keep an eye on your food, someone else may take it because they do not give you a number or name, so you just have to watch them cook your food to keep track. It's been a really long time since I've been to a buffet. I know this location has been a buffet the last 3 businesses so it's always interesting to see what the changes are with new ownership. You pay immediately when you enter and seniors (65+) get a 10% discount. They'll bring you to your table with your party and they'll tape your receipt to your table. They tape it there so they'll know when you're seated and you only have 90 minutes to eat. The items were pretty standard buffet items - things that could sit out for a fairly long time. There wasn't anything that stood out particularly but I do think they were well staffed and their bathrooms were clean. I got full pretty quickly as I'm not a big eater so I wasn't able to try the teppanyaki station or malatang station but I heard they were good. Came for a meal here and really wanted to try it out. Sadly I wasn't very impressed. Typical Asian fare with nothing really great. They have the sushi bar, just OK. They have the hot food, just OK. There's a noodle soup station, didn't try. There's a hot pot station, Not bad freshly boil selection of veggies and meats you pick. Very small selection of dim sum items. Mediocre selection of desserts! The waiters are nice and a bit swamped as there was a huge party there at the same time. Place was clean and not grungy. Plenty of seating with a good sized private room in the back. For sure you will get full given its AYCE. And I would not be lying if I said some food items hit the sport just right. So for sure give it a try at least once. read more
