Ordered dinner takeout of the poke salad, along with 2 rolls of their Negi Toro and Tempura. We have ordered all of these three items in the past and they were just as good as before.

Tom san Karen is one of my favorite sushi restaurants The omakase is a great deal at only $38, and the sashimi is incredibly fresh. My kids also love their ramen and the unagi rice bowl.

Came in for dinner and tried their truffle ramen and was pleasantly surprised. The broth was light, clear and full of truffle flavor without being overwhelming. The thinly sliced chashu stood out since most ramen spots serve thicker cuts, but I preferred the thinner slice and it was really good. They included an ankimo on top which I thought was so unique and paired well with the jammy egg yolk. The portion size was also perfect. Would recommend.

No wait on a Friday night on Valentines weekend. Service was fast and omakase was a great deal. I was pleasantly surprised at how big the sashimi pieces were. It came with sushi rice on the side. Everything was pretty good except for the hotate. It was a little chewy and not as sweet as others I've had. Still a great deal and I wouldn't mind getting it again. We had to flag someone down to ask what we were eating as it wasn't explained when it was served. Also tried the truffle ramen. I think the meat was chicken instead of pork. They were very thinly sliced and came with 3 pieces. It wasn't really memorable. The eggs were perfectly cooked but felt it could be marinated longer. You could definitely taste the truffle in the broth though. I wouldn't mind getting it again but would probably try something else next time.

Why have I waited this long to try this spot!? I'm absolutely mind blown by this spot! I finally went with my friend! Here's what I noticed Food: $38 omakase!? Yes, please!!! The 9 pieces sashimi are UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS! It's super fresh too! You also get a bowl of seasoned rice along with the Omakase order. My friend and I split the omakase. We also ordered SpicY Tonkatsu Ramen and Grilled Salmon Bento. The tonkatsu was for myself and the Salmon Bento was my friend's. The broth is flavorful but isn't spicy enough for me and the ramen noodles could use a bit longer time cooking. I do like the jammy egg halves as well as how the pork slices melted like butter ! My friend loved the grilled salmon and it has good balance of flavors, as well as the glaze enhanced the crispiness of the salmon's skin. Overall, food's delicious and flavorful Services: they're quite attentive and make sure our tea cups are always filled. Ordering is also a breeze as they put orders into their iPads. Ambiance: it's a casual dining experience yet also a potential spot to impress your friends/ crushes! Music wasn't too loud and you have ample opportunities to really enjoy yourself! Overall, if you're in a market for good food that won't break your bank, this place is worth a visit! Pro-Tip: you might want to park at the Westlake Shopping Center and walk. Parking isn't the best around there as many people are there to try other spots next to this restaurant

Truffle Ramen - Hints of Truffle Flavor, but I much prefer their Sushi and Sashimi!

Returned for the omakase again earlier this month on a week night. Beautiful presentation, but I felt the fish wasn't as tasty or fresh as my January visit. I was hungry so had the Omakase both ways - Sashimi and O-nigiri. The restaurant was packed even at 4:45pm on a weekday. Everyone else seemed to have ordered ramen and other appetizers and looked like they were enjoying their meals. Hopefully it was just an off night the day I went. :0(

Wow, this place is sad. Beef that is chewing and as tough as any dog toy. Prices that are similar to downtown SF, but lacking the quality or the ambiance. This bento was bad. Like I said the beef was awful. Rice was old. Salad was meh, the only edible thing was the tempura. My melt in mouth roll with spicy tuna ans inagi was a whopping $18 for a small roll that had lukewarm rice and fish. Rice should never be falling apart and fish should be cold and unagi should be hot/warm....this roll was a mess. My coworkers Lion King roll was just as sad, she said she only ate it because she was hungry. Her cucumber salad was awful. 2.5 stars rounded up since I feel bad for this small business.

went on Father's Day and to my surprised was seated right away! i was so excited to try this spot since my father-in-law have been raving about it. Let's first talk about how reasonable the pricing is! For chirashi during lunch time, it's about $21! You get all different types of sashimi and it's over sushi rice. You can taste how fresh the fish is and on the plus side, the wasabi is the real deal! I ordered the bento box with salmon teriyaki + sashimi, which I forgot to take a photo of. The 4 piece sashimi were thick cuts, the salmon teriyaki was on the slightly fishy side, but the portions for what you pay for is worth it. I definitely will come again to try their other items! I saw they had omakase!

Came here for a casual date night and it hit the spot. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with quick service and a solid menu. The ramen broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles had a great chew. Toppings were fresh and well-portioned. We also tried some sides that were good, though nothing mind-blowing. Overall, it's a dependable neighborhood spot with comforting bowls and a laid-back feel. Would definitely come back when the ramen craving hits.

We visited Tom San Ramen this past weekend and had a great time. Service was not good. We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday night and for 30 min, we were the only customers in the restaurant. Our server didn't give us menus and we had to grab them ourselves, the tables weren't set up properly (some of us were missing utensils, plates, etc.) and we had to keep asking for water refills. Food was great and the portions were big! My husband ordered the katsu dinner combo and there was so much food! We ordered the shoyu ramen which had a really nice and light broth. Noodles were good. The meat was on the leaner side, but overall, it was a solid bowl of ramen. I ordered some nigiri and all of the fish was super fresh and there wasn't a ton of rice which is just the way I like it. Agedashi tofu was great, but it was served dry and with a side of teriyaki type sauce-- just different from the norm. Same with their tempura. Hugh pieces, but the breading was a little different than what I'm used to. It was more like breading used for fish and chips. Still delicious- just a little different and more heavy. Even though it was a bit lacking in service, I would definitely go back and recommend as the food was great and the prices were reasonable.

    Unagi Don Lunch Special
    Danny W.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, they have lunch specials 7 days a week which is nice since most places only have a lunch special on the weekend. The atmosphere is nice with a lot of families with kids and young couples going out for lunch. But the food is amazing! I was expecting the unagi don I ordered to just have a few cuts of unagi over rice but man was I surprised when they brought out my order and it had more than the six pieces of unagi specified on the menu and they put in seaweed salad and cuts of avocado which I loved. Real big shout out to the chef because they made the best unagi don I have eaten and added flare to it to make a more round meal than just unagi and rice.

    Hamachi & Toro Nigiri
    Miranda L.

Headed over for lunch with a friend at around 11:30 am and since it was opening time, we got seated immediately for our party of 2. They had a large variety of items from sashimi to noodles to a special lunch menu. Their lunch menu was tempting from the prices to the food included in each set, my friend tried the salmon teriyaki which she enjoyed with the California roll. Hamachi and Toro Nigiri - I wanted to try two of my favorite types of fish which were the hamachi and toro. The prices were reasonable and the pieces were fresh and large. The toro was the standout for me, fatty and melted in my mouth. Romeo & Juliet Roll - I saw this was a popular item people ordered and I loved the flavors of this roll. The salmon with scallops were fresh and had a great texture. The mayo and spicy sauce with the roe on top added crunchiness, creaminess and a light punch of flavor that made it well balanced. The meal was very filling and I was impressed by the quality of fish as well as the different deals they had. Would love to come back to try their noodle dishes and other menu items.

Spicy miso Ramen with torched brussel sprouts.
    James L.

With a current average of 4 stars, I don't understand so how many things can go wrong for our experience here. Started off when we were looking at the menu, a young lady with a face mask says, " you ready?" No hi, no you like something to drink first? When we asked for another minute, she abruptly walks away. The weather was cold, we asked for hot water and hot tea. The water tasted like chlorine. The tea tasted like it was made with the same hot water and chlorine. We ordered a beef teriyaki, some rolls and a spicy miso ramen. The teriyaki came out first. The beef was tough, dry and flavorless. Our other items, 2 rolls and a ramen took much, much longer. The table behind me that sat down after we ordered got all their food first. I flagged down a gal and she immediately said "it's coming", as if she already knew it was taking too long and what I was going to ask. The spicy ramen wasn't bad. Not the best but not bad. Mild heat and actually had torched brussel sprouts, which is a first. The rolls weren't bad either. The 'Melt in Your Mouth' roll was actually very soft and did melt in my mouth, but both rolls were drenched with a very sweet eel sauce that covered up most of the other flavors. No one ever came by and refilled tea, asked if we needed anything or any kind of interaction. The girl with the mask just came by, dropped of the check and left. The vibe I felt was this is a very unfriendly place. The food was mostly fair, the beef teriyaki was awful, the service was nonexistent and the water tasted toxic. I'm not coming back.

There was a place I had in mind, but the moment I saw the word " ramen" sign, my instant craving was suddenly ramen over anything else. So, listening to the stomach, I walked in. The staff came to us and fortunately, despite most of the seats were filled with customers we got a seat. I already had a menu in mind and browsed through the ramen menu to decide on the tonkotsu ramen, my family members reviewed the menu to also narrow down their choices. We ordered three items in total: ramen, a curry dish with tonkatsu and additional spice level to spicy, and a lunch bento box as option F (if I recall). For the bento it comes with the miso soup, so this arrives first over all of the dishes. Then, in short time differences, the curry arrived first, the ramen next, and then the bento set. The ramen was pretty much exactly what I wanted but catered to my tastes in a way. At most restaurants, the tonkotsu ramen is served with thin noodles. This is actually not my favorite type of ramen noodles; I prefer thicker ones. The ramen here, it was served with thick noodles, so that brought a joy to my face. The broth was mellow and not too rich. I also loved the crispy textures of the bean sprouts balanced well with the chewy noodles. The bento box had a wonderful array of fillings that pleased my relative. They ordered the one with sashimi and beef. I got a chance to try some of the beef and it was very tender and well seasoned. It went great with the rice. The tempura also arrived piping hot and the crunchy shell still crispy as they took a bite. They were pretty full near the end of the meal. My other relative enjoyed the curry too. They have a stronger spice tolerance, so they ordered it with extra spice: the spice version. Turns out this was pretty spicy. The spice was spicy in a good way; I took a bite, and the spicy kick doesn't hit me until after I swallowed it down. They told me that next time they will still add spice but a level lower than the one they ordered. I also got to try their tonkatsu; also nice and crispy! The pork was juicy and tender too. It went super well with the curry. As an ending note, my family and I were in good spirits when the staff served us hot tea instead of water, especially during the winter season. It was a a very thoughtful gesture that made the food experience pleasant.

OKONOMIYAKI, Seafood & Veggies, is a savory Osaka Japanese-style seafood pancake, topped with Kewpie Doll mayo, Okonomiyaki sauce and bonito flakes. This could be a meal in its own with its serving portion. The pancake was chock full of fish, squid or tako, shrimp and bits of cabbage, garnished w/dancing bonito flakes. Flavors were there but the Okonomiyaki seemed a bit flat for me. But it's a favorite to have with friends over beers. You can also amp the Okonomiyaki topped with stir fried noodles and an egg, Modern-Yaki. BLACK GARLICS RAMEN, usually served w/roasted black garlic, sliced roasted pork, half an egg, bamboo stems, black fungus, chili threads, garnished w/green onions in a pork flavored soup. KSM is one of those ethnic markets where you can spend a dreamy time wandering the aisles, unlocking the variety of Asian food products from, Korea, Japan, China, to start. The produce section feels more like an indoor farmers market with its carefully curated and stacked fresh produce. Their varieties of rice alone is worth a visit. Loved the ramen aisle with its varieties. Note if buying noodle packs in bulk, they're located in the front of the store by the cashier stations. Their meat and seafood market in the back, also well-curated, offers cuts of beef, pork or seafood for stirfry, hot pot or barbecue. We were regulars with the pre-marinated beef short ribs, ready for the BBQ. Pick up some Kim Chee, banchan and make a pot of rice. Makes for a nice meal! KSM also offers hot prepackaged meals, sushi, banchan, to go. There also a small eat-in cafe located next to the takeout. You can order hot tofu soup, K-style fried chicken wings along with their barley tea. KUKJE SUPER MARKET was a staple while living in SF and continues to be staple in Daly City. See you there!
