Love the atmosphere. Indeed, it's roomy yet cozy. It's a nice dark interior, yet there's much light from the windows that feel like they are floor to ceiling. It's a great place to get a panini and meet with friends, family, or colleagues over lunch or coffee. A real prize in Holyoke, it's become a favorite for many who have discovered it. Great breakfast and the menu is fantastic! You won't think you're in Holyoke when you are here. Minus a couple bearded hipsters the place has a great atmosphere. Lively and personable the best place to grab breakfast in W Mass hands down. read more

Been twice... I want to love it due to it's location and small/local business factor, but not so much. 1st time I went, they were extremely busy, but the server let me know the food eta prior to me placing an order. Much appreciated. Food was good. 2nd time I went, I wanted to order boneless wings (they were out the 1st time). They weren't making them due to Lent. Rather dissapointing. I ordered a burger, requested it be cooked medium. It was cooked so thoroughly I'm suprised the outside of it wasn't burnt. The cheese/topping ratio was good, but it was not an enjoyable burger due to it being very well done, rather than medium. It took a while for the food to come out so it was not worth the time to wait for a properly cooked burger. I'll probably give them a 3rd try, then it'll be off my list if still meh. read more

I'm only in Holyoke for a short time and I stumbled upon this great place. They serve breakfast and lunch with anything from breakfast sandwiches to full meals. The sevice was excellent, great music and a nice local environment to hang out in for a few hours. They have tables, comfy chairs and bar type seating as well as free Wi-Fi. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a side of homefries. Both were excellent, served quickly and piping hot. I will be back for sure! read more

Let me confess up front that I'm a coffee shop snob. A good rich latte artfully made really tickles my fancy. While the Dam doesn't measure up as the 'best of' cafes, it does the trick when I don't need to travel all the way to my favorite watering holes in Northampton. Nice variety of menu choices. I prefer the Adela vegetarian sandwich which is served on nice pannini bread with fresh goody's inside and homemade potato chips. Comfortable and welcoming interior with good table and seating arrangements. Love the outside dinning! Service sometimes uneven. A couple of times even a little grumpy. But I must add that that was early on and they seem to be more consistently smiling and friendly recently. Inside can be a little noisy with lots of hard surfaces reflecting the sound. TV's are a distraction in a cafe. Ok in a bar (I guess) but not in a cafe where people come to have real conversations or relax. It just adds to the noise that needs to be talked over. This may all sound a little critical but I really like this place. As I said, I'm a coffee shop snob. I say these things kind of as a wish list for my version of the perfect cafe - which I have yet to find.. I think you will like this place. read more

First time here. Good bagels and jalapeño cream cheese, breakfast burrito and the special chicken philly omelette. Some things over cooked- Somethings under cooked. No foul taste necessarily with these things in mind though. Vanilla latte tasted watered down. English breakfast tea was good and very happy they had organic soy milk. I moved into the neighborhood last year and live walking distance from this "pub" wanna be cafe. Personally, I am a visual person. What drew me in was the beautiful wood fixtures. I love an earthy vibe. Besides obvious no-nos like horrible business hours (sometimes I drive by at 2pm and they are closed) the service has never been excellent, the food has never been awesome. The sandwiches are a bit pricey but, since they are made fresh I was happy. That is until I had what I have coined the "Egg sandwich in sheep's clothing" It should really be called an Egg Bomb or the Instant Dry Cleaner Bill, not a sandwich. The staff (counter and kitchen) is INCOMPETENT they can't get an egg sandwich order right even when I was the ONLY customer at the counter ordering. NO PRESSURE. After carefully explaining the scientific formula for an egg "over-medium" which is essentially: an egg flipped shy of a hard yolk...the cook nodded agreeably and came back with what was to be a volcanic explosion in my car. The EGG BOMB cost me $24.00 at the dry cleaners and the restaurant owner refused to honor her offer to pay it and then proceeded to do the most ridiculous thing: she told me to leave or she would call the POLICE. LOL...she forbid me from entering that hellish oblivion she MIS-SPELLS The DAM(NED) Cafe. I think I finally figured out why the spotty hours: they can't afford to pay their overhead...I think the owner is an EGG-HEAD. read more

the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant is one of the best breakfast sandwiches i've had, and i eat a lot of breakfast. it is tucked away in holyoke, near HCC. they have a nice space, very open, with free wifi and beer. they serve breakfast all day on the weekends. whenever i'm in holyoke, this is where i grab breakfast. read more

I've visited the cafe on many occasions now, and have been very pleased with my experience. I thought chicken quesadillas were excellent, their breakfast sandwich was ok. The coffee and lattes are also excellent. In my most recent visit, they did not have sour cream for the quesadillas, and they offered to make fresh guacamole for me instead. I accepted the offer, they brought it out to me when it was prepared and that too was a very nice gesture, and fantastic guacamole!!! Never disappointed there! read more

Mediocre food and terrible service. Run by teenagers who make lots of easily avoidable errors. If you're okay with waiting 15 minutes for a very forgettable sandwich, go to the dam cafe. And don't bother with the pastry shelf -- options are mass-produced preservative bombs. read more

Delish coffee and sandwiches (the veggie is my favorite -- get it with hummus AND swiss). Great place to pop in quickly or to stay a while and read. My only complaint is that they close at 2 pm most days. I wish they stayed open later! But the furniture is comfortable, the staff is friendly and prompt, and the coffee is awesome. I also really want to like this place but the espresso is tasteless. It was more like a glass of hot water and milk than a coffee. It would be so easy to make it a 4 star place by getting better quality espresso. With so many good roasters in the area its a Dam shame. read more

I have eaten here many times now and appreciate the consistently good food. Great sandwiches, salads, baked goods and now beer. Also they now have live music in the evenings although you need to know ahead of time if someone is playing because it might be closed otherwise. The ambiance is quite pleasant with free wi-fi and several types of seating (lounge chairs, seats and tables and stools at a bar). My only complaint is the hours. I wish they were open consistently in the evenings. read more

Awful. Poor service and terrible food. I had pancakes made from a box mix and a side of home fries that was fair at best. There was no flatware available was told to use a plastic fork and knife. Came out a few minutes later with red hot fork and knife that I couldn't touch. When I ordered she forgot my order. Wife had a coffee and bagel. $17 for a lousy breakfast. If you want just a coffee and a muffin maybe but no way would I recommend this place. read more

Great pumpkin coffee!! It's Brewed fresh not made with the syrup. All the food is very good, haven't had anything that I haven't liked. Very relaxing atmosphere and free wifi. Lunches are also very good. read more
