Everything here is delicious. I've never had a bad experience. Lama is great. Will be back often.

Delicious! The three of us loved our entrees. Had the cheese bread as an appetizer on the suggestion of our waitress. Really good/stuffed with feta and tomatoes and served hot. Hubby had a combo entree with kafta, kibbi and more. I had the Granny's fave, beef tips with onions, mushrooms and green peppers in a red wine sauce. Son had a dish with chicken fixed in different ways. All of us had the rice/really good. We will be back! Pics were taken after we already dug in for a few bites.

First time here - it was really good! We both loved our dishes. The green beans are complimentary. We will definitely be back.

Some of the best ethnic cuisine in Ohio is found in the suburbs (I'd venture to say most). Damascene is no different, and I'm jealous Sylvania/Toledo gets to have this stuff on the regular. Of course, we found this place via Yelp! The usual, suburban strip-mall location, which unfolds into a large space that is beautifully decorated but casual enough to have TVs. Staff were friendly on greeting and seating, and our server was also friendly and welcoming. The food here was excellent, worth the price for the amount and quality. We were here with our college-age nephew he was excited to have nearly two meals worth of leftovers. ANYWAY. We ordered the feta dip for an appetizer, then lots of meat for our entrees. Shish Tawook, Chicken Kababs, and the Lamb Shank. So. much. food. omg. The prices are super-good for the (huge) amount of food you get. Everything was grilled to perfect doneness, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. Definitely make the drive over and try this place. You will be happy you did.

While I did not experience the ambiance at Grape Leaf Diner today, I can say from a past visit that the atmosphere is clean, bright with lots of windows, and with comfortable chairs and booths. The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. It was a beautiful presentation and I recommend that you give this restaurant a try! A tip for summer weather: the A/C was cranked up high when I was last there... maybe bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to run cold.

The menu goes beyond the basic…read moreshawarma/hummus/falafel things to include offerings like braised lamb shanks, yogurt kibbe, a huge selection of meat and cheese pies, besides a number of "Americanized" choices. The chicken shawarma is excellent, nicely seared but still juicy. Salads have been very good, with strongly (but not too strongly) lemony dressings, Falafels are crisp on the outside, a little soggier than I'd like on the inside--not that that stopped me from scarfing them down! Hummus is about as good as you'll find. Good as the food is, the service can be a bit slow. The market side is small, doesn't have a huge selection, but still a solid representation of mediterranean cooking basics (and seriously...just how many brands of tahini do you need???). And it's clean! A very economical olive bar and well-stocked meat case are musts for a visit here. In the latter, you'll find a little bit of beef, a little bit of chicken, a little bit of goat, but a whole lotta lamb, everything from tongues to trotters, at far below supermarket prices. While I like to sample a variety of places, Muna is taking away my incentive to explore other middle eastern restaurants in Toledo. It's a pleasant rut to be stuck in.
