Okay this was a favorite. We are traveling across country and hitting the high-points in each state. Nearby Mt. Cheaha was in the mid afternoon and we were pretty hungry. I found this restaurant on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. Wow am I impressed. We ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat (fresh lamb) with a stunning dressing and delicious meat. The greens were a spring mix and tasty. We also ordered the Barramundi fish in a lemon and caper sauce. This dish was incredible. The sauce was perfect complemented with pasta and a vegetable medley accompanied by garlic rolls. Just when I thought I was too full we split an order of the pecan cobbler a la mode. Food is good and Christine the waitress was great. 2 stars because of the owner. He is rude, cheap and obnoxious to his staff in front of customers too!!!! Charges $2 to use your debit or CC, $1 for a cup to take your to go drink after you have a party that has laid down over $350 for meal. Skimps on food and has a SA comment when you ask for a little more because fries are in what you did not order to make the crab claws look like there is a great amount for the $20 you spend on it. The guy needs to really change his attitude towards the customer and staff and discontinue his cheapness. I suppose he's never heard that old adage you got to give a little to make a little. He could have a great restaurant but not interested in going back til there is changes and get more help. Poor girl was running her hinny off. read more

I would not recommend eating here right now. We're in the middle of a pandemic but I'm guessing they didn't get the memo here. They social distanced their tables but let everyone and anyone sit and stand at the bar to "wait" for a table, so of course no masks are being worn despite the lack of social distancing. There was a wait for a table, which I was fine with since they're obviously down tables, but the wait for the food was over an hour when we ordered basic sandwiches and cheese quesadillas. Our waitress also seemed to have forgotten about us as after our drinks and appetizers were brought out, we didn't see her again and had to find her to get our check and pay. We were also seated by the back door which led to outdoor seating. However, we were here in the winter and did not expect the back door to be used very much, but we were wrong because apparently there is no rule to limit foot traffic entering or leaving the parking lot to the main entrance, again despite there being a pandemic and people lingering by this back door to talk. The food was hit or miss. The bacon cheese fries and fried pickles were good but the quesadillas and slaw were bland and not worth the hour wait for them. read more

Waited 2 hours on food and never got it. Went to pay for the drinks we had been served and was harassed by a kitchen staff who was very rude. The owner meet us out side and said will you not wait 2 hours for a good steak? Then proceeds to call the law on us. Would rather see a Taco Bell at his location read more

Found this place by using yelp and it was awesome food was good, hot, and good hospitality great little spot!! We had an awesome waitress Whitney and everything she suggested was delicious. I love a waitress that knows the food!! We had the fried pickles, Grouper, and omg the homemade bread pudding was to die for!! We will be back for sure!! If this were a place that were in my hometown and put on the scale that compares to other culinary 5 stars, this place might fall more in the four star range. But since this is being compared to other road trip stops that are literally right off the exit, I would have to put this on the typical Yelper statement of needing a 6 star. That is how I come up with this review to be 5 stars. On a road trip to Atlanta from Birmingham, we needed a stop for dinner after a late departure. It was a much later departure than normal because we already have a place we stopped at a few times in Douglasville that is much closer to Atlanta. But we were very hungry and discovered DamnYankees on Yelp. But unlike our other stop, the exit ramp was almost the driveway into the restaurant. It is REALLY close to the interstate. I am not really sure what to expect since they boasted a lot of seafood, but seemed a little divey, right off the interstate, in a small Alabama town. They inside has a bar feel to it. The people were extremely friendly and we were seated immediately. They took our drink order and we decided to start with the calamari. Drinks came out quickly and were never empty. We decided to both order wings just before our calamari came out. This is the type of calamari we really like. Not overly battered, perfectly cooked, and has the rings AND the bodies. We were extremely pleased with our appetizer choice. Our wings were also really tasty. We went with Lemon Pepper and something else I can't remember. Next time we go to Atlanta, I will be sure and take pictures of the menu (and of my entree) so I can remember a little easier. They were not the best wings I have ever eaten... but they were pretty dang good. The owner stopped by our table to make sure everything was good before we paid and went on our way. A great customer service experience all around and very well priced. This is definitely a future Atlanta road trip pit stop in the future. read more

Service to even get a large table was shady. It was apparent that the hostess did not want an large table. She ended up being our waitress. She was busy cashing people out and a few other ladies got our drinks and appetizers. Was very unhappy to see that do not serve any AB products. Who doesn't sell Mich Ulta, Bud, Bud light!!! So we just opted for water and sweet tea. That was a huge spoiler. Then It took over 2 hours to get our food. Last thing delivered was a ceasar salad (which contained mixed greens) I thought a ceasar salad was romaine lettuce. It was the last thing to be brought. She said she forgot. And someone with us ordered a salad with their meal and it was not brought at all. Food was mediocre at best. The only thing this place had going for them was the music being played. Trues this place with my family for the first time to celebrate my Father's birthday. The owner Dave is nice and quite a character. The food was excellent and an honorable mention to the fried turtle cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake. Don't let the outside of the place fool you it's definitely worth a try. Well definitely be back. I'm from Chicago and I came to visit my friend who lives in Georgia and told her let's drive to Alabama find some good food and drinks and we came here. The staff are very friendly and outgoing. Steve the cute bartender is originally close to my home and he's amazing. Dave the owner came to talk to us and he's also from Chicago, great guy, funny and his place really hit my spot. I would definitely recommend this establishment and will come back for more eye candy oh and the grub and drinks too. read more

First, let me start off by saying this place is nearly 8 hours from where I live! Every other place that served steak was packed, and I decided to give this place a try. I'm glad I did. My steak was cooked perfectly and the service was reasonable for having new employees working there. All of you did wonderful :) I am especially thankful to McKayla for being so wonderful to me and my family. She was very nice and was so helpful through the ordering process. The food isn't as overpriced as I expected, my steak was a good size and the fat wasn't trimmed and thrown out like they do at some places. It was quite under seasoned but perfectly cooked, so I really don't mind too much. Hope to be back in the area eventually. read more

So...just ate here on our way back from Atlanta. WARM welcome. Really. Warm. Welcome. This coming from two southern girls who are accustomed to warm welcomes but prefer them Lukewarm. The waitress was really nice but I think she may be scared of her boss. The food was okay-but beware if you ask for a to-go cup, there's a $1 charge. If you would like to pay with a debit or credit card, as most humans do in the ladder part of 2017, there is also another fee. Wow. You have a $99 steak on the menu, but charge $1 for a to-go cup. It's almost like an episode of SNL. Great laugh and next time, we'll probably go to Jack's where they include the cup, cheese and even let you pay with a card. read more

The woman who sat us and took our order, I would presume , was either the owner or the manager. After she took our order, she talked none stop as I telepathically urged her to put our food order in. The fried pickles were pretty good. Our lunches were also quite good. My girlfriend took the liberty of separately tipping the cook. The Dent Guys are in town and everyone said this is the place to eat!! The seafood soup is to die for so good, along with the Blackened Atlantic Salmon. I would say the Sea Food pot is $42.00 and for sure feeds 3 or 4.. 2 thumbs up!! read more

Went New Years Eve. Big Mistake. They had expensive specials and plenty of floor wait staff but everything was so very ssssllllooooowwwww. We were there an hour and a half and sat at the bar. We had a bar drink and an appetizer. No one ever came to check on us or to take the orders of people around us. We left - without leaving a tip except - get your act together.
