Visited Damon's and really enjoyed it. The decor was cool and it's definitely a great spot to watch sports. We started with a couple of appetizers, the house made potato chips and the Damon's sampler, which were both tasty. For dinner we ordered steak kabob and quesadilla. The food came out quickly, was hot and tasted good. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and server took good care of us throughout the meal. After a long day of traveling, we landed at Damon's Grill for dinner. The parking lot and walkway was going thru construction so you had to park behind and use steps to get up to path to walk in thru patio entrance. I just had surgery so walking is great - stairs not so great. I wonder what they are providing as a means for people needing an accessible entrance as this was not available - or if there was something, nothing indicated otherwise. Once inside we were Seated quickly and a server was very prompt. We placed drink orders and not a wait for them. My husband ordered a beer and commented several times how wide the beer glass was and awkward. Not a criticism of the food/drink but just very awkward. He ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli which he loved the salmon. It was cooked perfect and had a great glaze on top. I ordered the haddock which also was quite tasty. It had a cracker topping which wasn't too much and provided a tasty top! I also had the mashed potatoes which reminded me of taking the cooked potatoes out of baked potatoes and mashing them. One star. The only reason this isn't a zero is because Jen, our waitress, actually knows how to do her job. Everything else? A mess. Ordered a Philly with fries and a side of mac and cheese. The "fresh cut fries" came out cold, limp, and soggy like they'd been sitting around all day. The mac and cheese was cold too, but somehow the container was hot... so yeah, clearly microwaved. Sent it back. The mac came out barely warmer (still mid at best), and I only ate it because I was starving. The fries finally came back hot--but now they were drenched in grease and still terrible. So either cold and soggy or hot and oily... pick your struggle. Then the manager, Lisa, comes out yelling about how they're "fresh cut fries." Ma'am, fresh cut doesn't mean inedible. You can scream "fresh" all you want, it doesn't fix bad food. Jen deserves a raise. Lisa needs a reality check and probably shouldn't be managing anything involving customers. Save your money. PROS: this place had the best atmosphere for a sports bar I've ever seen. Retired stadium seats, game used merchandise, autographs, etc. the food tasted AMAZING and was reasonably priced. Staff was also friendly CONS: the couch needs to either be deep cleaned or reupholstered. The booth benches also sync in from abuse. Also two of the stadium seats were broken. Stopped in while traveling for work as the options were a bit limited. I asked the locals and this is the place they recommended. Inside is almost an early 2000's Applebee's vibe with large round bar seating with plenty of TV's. I was greeted by my hostess. I reviewed several other reviews, and everyone raved about the wings. So, Wings and a salad it is. The wings were crispy, had a good amount of sauce. great ranch and blue cheese dressing. Wings were juicy and cooked well. The salad on the other hand was disappointing. First off was the wait. I ordered a Grilled chicken salad and it took more than 30 - 35 minutes to reach the table. I had demolished the wings and was waiting for a good while. I don't say this often about many restaurants but they have some really good wings. I ordered a few weeks ago (wings, nachos and cheese steak rolls). Everything was good but wings were the highlight. I have ordered from them recently, but just the wings. They are large and well fried without being dry. Most places give you wings that appear not thoroughly cooked (you see the slight pink inner part.. Puke). Not these wings. I can eat them to the bone without fear of Salmonella poisoning. So far I have tried the garlic butter which to me seemed like plain wings. The garlic buttery flavor wasn't strong. Also the stingin honey garlic was well done. Vacationing around the area and was hungry so the family decided to dine here especially when we stayed at the hotel next door and they have a 10% discount promotion for the hotel customers. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a nice friendly staff and were seated quickly. For starters, we had the pulled pork nachos. It looks more delicious than it actually tasted. The cheese was not hot and although there were many toppings, there weren't enough chips. For main course, I had bbq half chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw. It was okay. The chicken meal at my local Boston Market tastes better. The food here is loaded with sodium so halfway through dinner, I had to stop eating because I feel a rush of high blood pressure flowing. My son had the California BLT and I took a bite and it was good. My daughters kids meal was decent size meal for kids and she enjoyed it. Overall, the service was good and food was ok. Would I recommend coming here? No, unless if you're in the area and don't feel like driving like us but then again, there's always takeout and delivery from other eateries. read more

Don't expect prompt or timely service. This location is a fast cry from what a good Damons is. This is not a good choice for a lunch break during the work day unless you have 90 minutes. It took them about 40 minutes to get our lunch and it wasn't cooked the way we ordered it. Damon's corporate should visit this location and train everyone. read more

Came here testing out local places to try. Guess what I found? One of my new favorites that's not a half hour drive away! This grill exceeded my expectations. First, I ordered the house sampler as an appetizer, which includes mozzarella sticks, potato skins, wings, and onion sticks. Everything was hot and fresh. My favorite was the Buffalo wings and potato skins! Nothing was greasy at all it was fresh and crispy. I ordered fried shrimp with a side of mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. To go along with the meal I tried out the Peach Whiskey drink. I found it to be sweet and delicious, with just the right amount of whiskey to give you that warm feeling. My fiancée ordered the beast burger and fries. The burger was cooked exactly as directed and the fries and overall taste was excellent. My dish overall was flavorful and great portion sizes. Service was decent, refilled drinks and plenty of attention given to us by our waitress tonight. The general vibe of the place is a casual sports bar, so it was great to watch a few games and eat great food with loved ones. At the time we were seated, the bar was a little empty, so was a little confused to be seated so close to several other diners when there was plenty of room to spread guests around for more privacy and better view to watch the games. If you're an out-of-towner, you will quickly notice that the dining options aren't overwhelmingly awesome in Hazleton. If you're staying at the Fairfield, they will tell you that your room key will fetch you a 10% discount at Damons, which is located in the same parking lot. Pretty easy choice if you're lazy like me, and not really digging the other options on Yelp. Fortunately, or sadly (depending how you look at it), I ate at Damons three nights in a row during my stay in Hazleton for business. I'm not sure if Damons is a chain, but when you walk inside, it looks a lot like your run of the mill chain (think Applebees, Ruby Tuesday, Shenanigans from the movie "Waiting," etc). I sat myself at the bar each of the three nights. Lots of televisions, really friendly folks sitting at the bar if you want to strike up a conversation... definitely a great place to watch a game. I watched quite a few Stanley Cup Playoff games here in my three days in town. The service the first night was mediocre, even though it wasn't very crowded. It took between 5-10 minutes to be greeted by the bartender. Ordering food, refills, etc. took a while each time. I ordered wings and a salad. I went with the buffalo and sweet chili for the wings - both of which were very good. The wings were nice and meaty. The side salad was a little sad, with the lettuce being close to the end of its time as a green vegetable. The service was much better the second night (different bartender). I ordered the NY Strip this time around, and would recommend you pass. In all fairness, I did ask the bartender about the steaks before ordering and her review, while diplomatic to her employer, was not exactly glowing. But, I ordered it anyway (glutton for punishment). It wasn't awful. I ordered it medium rare, which it was, but it was tough and bland. I have never understood bland steaks because good steak require very little to be amazing. The bartender also said the quality of the steak on a given night depends who's in the kitchen cooking, so I will pass that helpful tidbit along to you. Roll the dice at your own discretion. Third night. Good service once again. I played it safe and went with a repeat on the wings. Same flavors - buffalo and sweet chili. Highly recommend. I did order the side salad again, but it was a lot better. I also went with the banana bread cheesecake for desert, which was absolutely amazing. Easily the the highlight of my three visits, food wise. The biggest issue I saw with Damons was consistency - with food and service. I wouldn't hesitate to give them another chance and recommend you check it out as well. Your options are limited, after all. Cheers. read more

Also, regarding my comments about the quality of their Prime Rib, in fairness nothing was mentioned to our server at the time. That was our mistake since they were never given an opportunity to resolve this while we were seated. I learned 2 lessons: Always review your credit card statements for errors and if you have an issue with an item, make sure to mention it while at the restaurant. read more

The restaurant was older but clean. Our waitress was fine but was covering multiple sections of the restaurant. First off the food took forever to come out and the restaurant was 75% empty. The food itself was expensive and disappointing. My wife and I got three items we started out with the no bean chili. The meat was fine needed more seasoning without the beans the chili could have benefited from some fresh onion. The wings were the biggest let down a very expensive. The meat itself was fine, but the breading just had no flavor. We also got a Smoke House Burger there was nothing wrong with it, but when you are charging 18.00 for a Burger, it has to best ever this is not. I come into Hazleton about once a month for work. The last few times I have stayed at the Fairfield Inn which is right next door to Damon's. In February I stopped by at 8:00pm hoping to be able to park at the hotel and walk over, have a beer and a sandwich. I walked in and was immediately told they were closed. It was a weekday evening. Had to get in the car and find dinner. That happened twice that week. Not sure what their hours are. Fast forward to this week. I stopped in about 7:00pm Saturday night and they were open. I thought, OK this will finally work. Sat at the bar which was about 2/3 full. Bartender took about 10 minutes to get to me, no big deal. Took my drink order first then took 3 other people's drink order. They got their drinks and she moved on to the tables she was serving in the bar area. Waited 5 more minutes and decided to leave. We came here on a girls Sunday night, a group of 4 ladies. We were greeted by the 2 hostesses at the front. 1 barely even spoke with us and the other was having a convo but never made eye contact. It's crazy that this franchise lost most of it's locations over the years. I believe this location is one of only 3 Damons left in the country. The food and service is worlds better than most larger and well know comparable chain sports bar and grilles. Very clean, waitstaff is awesome except the the shift manager but don't let one bad apple spoil the bushel, food can take a little longer than average to come out, but worth the wait. I suggest trying the sweet chili wings, definitely a favorite, just wish it had more heat. Amazing burgers and desserts as well and their revolving seasonal menu is full of tasty options to keep it interesting throughout the year.
