Grabbed lunch from here recently and really enjoyed it! First, maybe because it was a cold day, there wasn't really a line. There was a big gravel parking lot next to the food truck so it was easy to find parking. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich, which came with 1 side (I got the butcher block beans!), while my wife got the turkey sandwich and the mac and cheese on the side. The food was prepared quickly, but make sure that you tell them if you want BBQ sauce, onions, and/or pickles on your sandwich, as I think they make the sandwiches plain by default. I opted for the BBQ sauce (of course!) but nothing else :) We got our food to go and ended up eating at home. Overall, I thought my sandwich and side were both delicious! The pulled pork had a complexity and flavor that was better than any other BBQ joint in the area. The sauce was tasty but not overpowering, which was great. The beans were a little spicy and had bits of meat (brisket?) throughout the sauce, which I appreciated. This is by far the best Texas style BBQ I've had outside of Texas. I've been twice and LOVED everything I've tried. Go early (at opening ideally) if you want the smoked sausages or beef ribs. Those seem to sell out early. I loved the sausage that I tried (not pictured). The brisket is also awesome, but the best thing I had here was the brisket burger. It was a Friday special and legitimately the best burger I have ever had. The smoked Mac and cheese is also one of the best bbq sides I've ever had. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This is my second time visiting, but this time I ordered online! I raved about my first visit so much that a few friends from out of town wanted to try it out and they were extremely impressed. Its nice and clean and has some great aromas that made it acceptable to wait in line for over an hour.Once I got to the order window, the staff were helpful and efficient. Located on a ranch, the restaurant is operated out of a food truck style trailer with the big smokers set up right next to it and country music playing over the loud speaker. And the seating area consists of large picnic benches under a big outdoor roof. Vibes: immaculate. Note the line to order can take a while if there are a lot of people, but only because they give you your food one at a time right after you order it. Our group of 4 ordered the Texas Trinity to share and it was plenty of food, we even had to take home some leftovers. The brisket and pork ribs were extremely flavorful and tender, and the sausages had a bit of melted cheese in the center! And all of their sides are delicious, great pairings with the meat, especially the shell mac & cheese! I'm leaving this review purely based on one interaction and the complete and utter lack of respect or appreciation for the people who decide to support their business. We like Texas bbq. So much so that we order regularly from Terry Black's Barbecue in Texas so when someone on Next Door suggested dampf, we decided to try it. Initially we drove past it because it's a very non descript location but it looked promising being on the property of a farm. They serve out of a food truck so the line forms outside, not a big deal but this day was rather chilly, still, for Texas styled ribs, it's worth the cold. Because we have experience with a Texas styled ribs restaurant (brick and mortar) in PA that would often sell out, we checked the menu for anything crossed out. We checked for any notices indicating items unavailable. There were no such notices and nothing on the menu was crossed out. We got in line and waited. Ten minutes, then twenty and the line barely moved and most of that was due to patrons ahead of us in the line deciding to leave. After an hour, it just over that, someone came and advised that they've been sold out of beef ribs, pork ribs and brisket for 2 hours. Wow. Way to show respect for our time. Why not cross out those menu items? Even after that announcement, they didn't update their menu. I just don't think I can hand over my money to a business that doesn't respect my time or business. EDIT: I received a reply from Dampf and appreciate the courtesy of that reply. I got the brisket Philly cheesesteak, the ribs, and a side of smoked Mac and cheese: the good, the customer service was awesome and the location is on a farm! Very nice. For me, the food fell short. The brisket Philly was overly salty and not cut in half. Because I'm visiting from out of town, it would've been nice to not have to go searching for a knife. As a recent transplant from Texas, I can attest to the authenticity. I've waited in many barbecue lines, and I'm certainly not going to complain about one that's in the shade and moves quickly. We had a large group, which was great for trying a variety of things. The beef rib was the highlight, but the brisket, sausage, and barbacoa were all prepared well too. The Mac and cheese was a hit with both the kids and adults in our group. The roasted veggies were also a good side and definitely the healthiest thing on the tray. When my wife mentioned it was my birthday, they not only remembered but later surprised us with a banana pudding on the house--which was as delicious as it was thoughtful. I went to school in Texas and have done plenty of work there, so I've eaten at some of the most iconic BBQ spots in the Lone Star State. Dampf Good BBQ is the real deal. Too often, places outside of Texas claim a "twist" on Texas brisket, but the results don't quite live up to it. Not here. These folks are loyal to the roots of Texas BBQ while adding just enough of their own flair to make it special. The brisket was textbook perfect: smoky, tender, juicy, with a bark that had me grinning after the first bite. The turkey was shockingly good--moist and flavorful (no dried-out slices here). The bacon brisket, which is actually pork belly with a sweet finish, was next-level amazing--rich, tender, and perfectly balanced. We also tried both sausage options--the Polish and the pepper Munster--and both were fantastic. Juicy, well-seasoned, with a nice snap and deep flavors. And I have to give serious credit to the sides. A lot of BBQ joints seem to treat them like an afterthought, but not here. Every single one was just as good as the meats. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the elote was smoky-sweet with a little heat, the potato salad and slaw were fresh and crisp, and the baked beans had that perfect slow-cooked, smoky-sweet flavor. The portions were generous too--we left full and happy, but still found ourselves talking about the meal the whole way home. Between the top-tier BBQ, the welcoming atmosphere, and the personal touches from the friendly staff, this place is something special. Finally tried Dampf after hearing so much about it. I got there closer to closing and a few items were sold out but I grabbed the last bit of brisket with potato salad. The brisket was tender and juicy, and the potato salad was delicious. If you want something specific but can't get there early, order online and they'll reserve it for you. The staff were incredibly kind and made the experience even better. There's plenty of outdoor seating at Phillips Farm, I stayed until sundown and the atmosphere was great. They're very friendly and get you your food as fast as possible but it might be a better idea to call in an order. It's nice that the nicely rustic outdoor area you're in line waiting is covered although they need to add more gravel so there are fewer muddy areas. The sliced beef brisket was nice and juicy and the best I've had in this state. The Spare ribs were very tasty too, and came off the bone easily . Not fall off the bone which is a good sign. The sauce served with the meats it's a little sweet, but good. For sides I had the roasted vegetables which was basically zucchini and bell peppers. Updated: It breaks my heart to write this review because the bbq here is phenomenal but I have repeatedly received poor poor service here. I would only visit this spot when you have absolutely nothing else planned to do. You will wait an abhorrent amount of time for your food. I have placed an online order with them on three separate occasions and each time they have "run out" of the meat I've ordered when I've come to pick up my food. This of course happens AFTER I've waited 30 minutes in "line" (I say line this way because if you place an online order you stand off to the side while the counter "works you in" their walk up order line). Why was I able to order the item in the first place one might ask?? Honestly, for constructive criticism they need to remove the online feature completely. Either that, or have a completely separate counter where people can pick up their orders. It makes zero sense to have one person accept new orders while that same person has to assemble orders while customers can clearly see others standing around with their arms folded doing seemingly nothing in the truck. My first time here. I really had never heard of this place til my friend suggested it. I'm a big fan of NC BBQ (pork) and this one specializes in Texas BBQ (beef/brisket). I like that they do offer pork and beef (and turkey). I had the "Big Dampf" sandwich which consisted of brisket and pulled pork with a polish sausage and Mac and cheese. I can't say anything bad. The food was smoked perfectly with the nicest smoke rings. The sauce was very sweet and tangy but not too spicy. They were very friendly and the food arrived about 5 minutes after I ordered and they played some classic country music to top it off. I ordered food online through their toast service and was charged over $250 my order. I had a friend from Florida come up that day and felt like I needed to pre-order to make sure they didn't run out of stuff and wanted him to try it all. To find out the day of, that they are temporarily closed. No notification, no email saying sorry we are closed, but charged and nothing. I reached out to Nick the same day who advised the issues the county was giving them and that he would process my refund. Well, as of today, no refund. I just moved to the area from Texas a week ago and I told one of my friends that I needed a good piece of Brisket for lunch but a piece of Brisket with pickles and onions like what you find in Lockhart,Tx like Blacks or the Salt Lick in Driftwood,Tx. We made it up about 11:40 and placed an order for a pound of Brisket, half a pound of Pork Ribs, one Sausage that had some sort of pepper (forgive me for not remembering) and cheese, Coleslaw and one Brisket Taco. Their turnaround was quick! Oh boy, I think the Texas BBQ gods were listening. The Ribs were tender and delicious. The sausage was fantastic. It had a great balance of cheese and some sort of green pepper inside. It had a smoky flavor but mild. The Coleslaw was an absolute vessel for the meats. Oh and their orders come with Bread, Pickles and Onions. If you're from Texas, you know that's a standard thing to expect with your orders, no questions asked. Now let's talk about that Brisket. That brisket was the star of the show. Sliced perfectly and juicy. Had an amazing smoky ring but not an overpowering flavor of smoke. The meat was juicy and tender. I know it's crazy that I'm writing a review like this, but let me tell you that I know my Brisket having lived the last 10 years of my life in West Texas and in San Antonio and I know my Texas BBQ. I thought prime barbecue in Knightdale was the best until I tried Dampf today. I won't deduct for the following. 1) Their stupid name which no one can say or spell. 2) I also won't deduct because of their inefficiency in ordering. Signs are terrible, written so small, truck/window is too high so it's hard to hear, the system they use to take order and pay is so terrible. You can tell by the comments the line moves so damn slow. Really really bad. 3) entire area is infested with flies and bees. If you eat there it is bad. I recommend getting it to go.
