After dealing with Dan Shavliks RV Service for many years we just had a very bad experience with a refrigerator repair. After many weeks of Dan trying to find the problem to come up with a diagnosis to give to our warranty company he supposedly fixed it and billed the warranty company. His repair not only didn't fix the problem, but when we picked it up numerous other things were not working that had been when we dropped it off. He was very combative and rude when we spoke with him about it and wanted him to make things right. After Dan having had it for over 8 weeks and still no diagnosis we picked it up and took it to another repair shop. Dan was very old school mechanic, but that's exactly what I needed. He was responsive and extremely knowledgeable. I felt like I was taking my travel trailer to an uncle to fix. His work was spot on and he even found and fixed a couple of small issues. I found my RV repair place and won't be going anywhere else. I wanted to remount the axles under the springs to add lift and install sumo springs. Had to have work done on our RV and after calling around to almost every RV dealership in the area and being told they wouldn't work on my RV, due to not purchasing an RV from them, I was eventually recommended Dans RV. Called them up and they promptly scheduled me for service. Though out the service, Dan would frequently call me with options of how to do the repairs or services and keep me updated with all the work. Dan is not warmest guy but I recommend him 100%. Honest, direct and skilled. He's gruff on the phone so I was prepared to dislike him but once we met, I ended up liking him and felt we had "chosen wisely." Dan has repaired all 3 of my RVs over the years. He has installed solar on two of them and tow kits on two of them. He has switched me to LED, fixed my stair, fixed some cabinets, fixed a door rattle, installed a new awning when ours ripped off the rig because we forgot to retract it, and so much more. He is very knowledgeable which I really appreciate. He is able to diagnose and repair items on the first time. There has been no problem that he could not fix. He has steered me away from bad products and steered me away from buying cheaper items that would not handle the capacity of my rig. If you want a hotel lobby of an office and someone to whisper sweet nothings in your ear and hold your hand this isn't the place for you. If you want someone to save your A$$ when your RV starts acting like a school yard bully than Dan's your man. He may come off cold when you first meet him, he is a serious get down to business kind of guy but he warms up after a few visits. Sometimes we need to drop it off on Sunday because only my hubby can drive the rig and he works Monday. It's normal for him to have us leave it in the lot. Then I drive the keys to him in the AM. **I was referred to Dan from another RV shop that didn't know how to do the work I needed done. I will be his customer as long as he is in business. Had an issue with our sway bar bracket made an appointment with Dan as he is an expert with these. Had a couple other things we needed fixed or added onto our trailer. What a great guy made an appointment took it in picked it up the very next day. Explained of a lot of things about our trailer to us as well. Great customer service at reasonable prices. Dan is very knowledgeable we highly recommend him for your future RV needs! In all of my years on this planet, I have never encountered such a rude and unprofessional business owner. If you see the reviews, either 5 stars or 1. What's the difference? Bottom line, nobody should ever treat another hard working, law abiding, tax paying adult who wants to do business with you in such a rude manner. We are in a rental rv with no working front AC and a broken generator which means no AC at all with 2 dogs and temps in the 80's. Everyone we call is booked and can't help. Needed a new awning fabric. Dan was able to give me options and order what I wanted despite delays by the supplier. He also replaced a bent awning arm from his own stock. Great service at fair price. Definitely a company I will stay away of doing business with! I called in to ask about availability of a product they are listed as a dealer for. Being called on the other line, I head to switch for a brief second after asking for permission and when I got back a sec later, the lady was" I don't know who the f**k is this, I am walking away" Which she did. Left me hanging on the phone for a few minutes and then got into some unnecessary arguments that I should provide them with full personal info in order to offer me the pricing for the product I was asking about.I tried to mentioned that she had a colorful language and the information she is asking about is not necessary in order to provide me with pricing and she hung up on me :/ Very rude, zero customer service! read more

"F**k off you arrogant prick!". Those were the last words that Dan Shavlik said to me as I walked out the door. The words before that? "You can pay $1000 or you can get the f**k out!" That's when I got up to leave and I heard his last words. If it weren't for other bad reviews on this page, I would find this story a bit hard to believe. It's all true. When I walked into Dan's business about 20 minutes before that and told his office manager what I needed, she went to get a form and couldn't find one. Then she and Dan started arguing about why there were no forms and what the next number should be, right in front of me for the better part of 5 minutes. That should have red flagged me to leave. When they finally stopped arguing, I told them that my RV's generator wouldn't stay on, that my brakes would stop working and then suddenly work just fine again, and that none of my three batteries would hold a charge (even though two were brand new) indicating some sort of electrical problem. Without test driving or even looking at my rig, Dan said my generator probably had the wrong oil in it, (it had been changed a few hundred miles earlier by an RV place in San Jose,) and it needed an oil change. He then went into a long explanation of the properties of oil. He then said I needed a new master cylinder for the brakes. He then told me for the charging problem, that I would need a full grounding service at a cost of $300 - $500. Because of the cost of the master cylinder and the "full grounding", I asked him if he could look at the rig and then give me an estimate, in case it might be something else that was less expensive. He then gave me a long explanation of electronics and said he knew what it was and he had been in the business 25 years and I shouldn't question him. I told him I wasn't questioning his abilities, but since I'm no expert and my description of the problem was likely not complete, wouldn't he want to look at the RV before telling me what the problem was and how to fix it. I asked him if he could look at the RV and give me a call with the cost after he did the diagnosis. First, he refused, but then he said, "Fine, but it's going to cost you $200 for an estimate") When I asked him why so much to just give an estimate, that's when he said his time was valuable and the fix was going to cost approximately $1000 for the three items. I could either pay it or get the f**k out." I've been to dozens of mechanics in my life and I've never had one diagnose a serious problem without looking at the vehicle and test driving it. I'm no mechanic, but since all three items happened at the exact same time, one might think they are related. This was never considered, because Dan never looked at my RV. Dan's office is both incredibly unprofessional in the way they talk to customers, which is obvious from the other complaints here, but it's also possible, he may be charging customers for things they may not not need due either to incompetence, or worse, specific intention. Buyer Beware! Epilogue - Took my motorhome to my normal car mechanic, back in the East Bay, who I have used for over ten years. The master cylinder did need to be replaced. However, the battery charge problem was caused by a loose wire and the coach electronics kill switch that looked like it was working, but was not hooked up. Cost to fix - 30 minutes of labor versus the $300 to $500 Dan wanted to charge me, while refusing to look at the rig. Generator needed a new fuel pump. Complete mis-diagnosis by Dan, because he was not willing to test drive or examine my rig before telling me what was wrong. read more

Dan worked me in. Was leaving town and needed the cooling unit replaced on my Dometic refrigerater. First class work at what i consider a most resonable price. I would recommend him to anyone and have more work for him when i get back in a few months. read more

Took my RV over to Dan for work to be done on my RV. The cost was 500.00 more than he quoted me and when I went to pick up the RV there was several holes in my front cap of my 5th wheel that he had done . After getting the fiberglass work done I found out my deductible on insurance was not refundable and there was 200.00 in fuel and 10hr taking the RV to get it repaired that I was not able to get refunded to me. I was broke down on the highway with a broken leafy spring hanger. While waiting for a tow I called Dan Shavlik's RV and told them I was broke down and waiting for a tow. Before I could say anything else he said, "I have been working overtime everyday and I told think you can afford my overtime rates." He had no idea what my problem was and how long it would take to fix. I asked if he know of any other trailer repair places as I was from out of town. Been taking various RV's (motor home, 5th wheel) to Dan for years. He's extremely knowledgeable, provides good service at competitive prices. Cordelia RV, where I bought the 5th wheel said they could not get a replacement door for my storage compartment. Dan took care of it a a few days. I live in Napa part of the year, so it is close. I was in need of an AC compressor for my Winnebago View Profile. Of all 3 places I called, Dan Shavlik was able to get me in the soonest (by 2 weeks). Dan was very knowledgeable about what was needed to affect the repair. He also helped me with a couple other electrical issues. Dan was so helpful. He stayed late so we could drag our rv (from 4 wasted days with a useless mechanic in our neighborhood) to his shop. He diagnosed the problem that night, got the parts overnight, and gave us the first appt the next day to get us on our way, even though he is booked way in advance. He repaired our generator with an inexpensive fix, instead of requiring a huge wiring job. He is smart and we will use him for future maintenance and repair. The repair was completed mid-May and they were struggling then with a new system for merging old and new records so it took a few extra minutes to sign us in as Dan was the one who knew how it worked. No big deal just plan a few extra minutes at the counter. Dan and his staff were all super nice. read more

I left my trailer with Dan to fix a water leak at the front window and, after a testy discussion where he tried to get me to agree to a $200 "pressure test" of the trailer, he gave me a $350 estimate to just repair the leak. Two weeks later, not having heard from him, I called and he said the window broke during the repair and he had ordered a replacement. He stated it was not the original window as it was not tempered glass, and it would not have broken if it was tempered glass like it should have been. I bought the trailer new, and it was the window that came with it. Almost two weeks later, Dan called and said the trailer was ready. I said I was now out of state and could not pick it up for two weeks. After having the trailer almost a month himself to repair a leaking window, he said he would charge me a $100 storage fee if I did not pick it up right away. I arranged for a pickup. He also insisted on and did charge me an additional $330 and tax to purchase and install the replacement window which his workers broke. read more
