I called Ramirez Auto after getting a diagnostic and quote done at Ford dealership for my F150. Ford told me I needed my front tire wheel bearings replaced and that it would be over $3k and take a week to be completed! Ramirez Auto was able to give me a quote over the phone and it was well within our budget so I dropped off the truck the next day! Best part was when I asked what day it would be done, they said they had gotten the parts sent over that morning and it would be done by end of the day! Ramirez Auto has given me outstanding service and trustworthy advice over the years. James will discuss in detail the issues at hand and all possible means of solving problems. They've done transmission and brake work on my Ford F150, as well as troubleshooting the cause of parking brake light issue to a short in the instrument panel, which was then replaced. Recently on our 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe they located, inspected and installed a quality used engine; and rooted out the cause of a stability control system short to a bad wheel speed sensor, which was replaced to solve the problem. Ramirez auto doesn't deserve any stars. They say it's a family owned business but what they forget to add in the ends it's a family scam. Quoted 2500, got a bill for 6500 after 2 months, negotiated price down and made me pay thousands to get my car back and I can't even drive it without it overheating. My check engine light was on and I took my car to have a smoke leak test done. The mechanic Dan was very helpful and polite. He found the problem right away which was a fuel hose that had a small hole in it. Replaced the hose and fixed the problem. I highly recommend this shop and will use them again in the future!!!! read more

We blew a hose while driving on highway 29 and by a stroke of luck we pulled off into their parking lot. I wish I knew the gentleman who helped us. He looked at our engine and found a blown hose. He explained to my husband the parts/tools he needed to bring up to fix it. He told us it was safe to wait there and to let him know if we needed any help once my hubby got here. Having moved to the area recently, my husband and I weren't sure where to go when our Diesel Jeep needed servicing. We definitely lucked out finding Ramirez Auto though! They were honest with us about what would be needed to fix the problem, and found the most cost-efficient way to handle the problem. They also took the time explain what was happening with the Jeep to us, as we were new to the diesel world. I don't even know where to start... This will have to be be a multi-part review! IDK what's changed, since I read a few good reviews about this mechanic on Yelp!, closer to when they first opened, which is why I came here, but the work, (or I should say "alleged/lack of work"), they do here now, is the WORST, in every way possible. It's so far below even "decent", it's unreal! Since we're cattle ranchers, we drive "beater" trucks & 4WD SUV'S, that are in good working order, but look kind of "rough". I brought my old 4WD Montero here, since it needed to be smogged, & I explained that it needs a bit of "not necessary, but mainly elective" work done also, but I really need to get it smogged first. I said, "Please, just do whatever needs to be done, all the basics, a tune up, oil change, replace fluids, check hoses, rubber, etc., so I can get it smogged, then I'll bring it back to have some other things done". James, the owner, said it was ready, but since the battery had been off, I'd need to put some miles on it, to reset the system. I drove it 80 miles, then took it to a guy in another town that James had referred me to, for a "pre-test". If failed 3 out of 5! (I later learned that he (James), has the same "pre-test" diagnostic tool, & instead of my having to drive to another place, in another town, he could have done it right there, a mile away! He told me again to "put more miles on it", so I drove it another 300 miles, now it won't pass more than 2 of 5 pre-test! It had began stalling out, the battery was dying, so I took it to where I bought the battery, (still under warranty), so they replaced it. It wouldn't start. There were a few mechanics who go to the part shop there, who offered to look at it, & they were puzzed at first, also. Then I see the tiny alarm button flash, & the other mechanic says, "push it in for 10 seconds, they try it again". It fired right up! I go back to James, (despite having not heard back from him, when I called during work hours, & was going to ask him about having it towed to his shop, during one of my three break downs), but he didn't answer, or bother to return my calls! When I return, & I tell him about the battery-alarm light issue, he just laughs, & says, "Well I could have told you that"! Well thanks, James, if you had, maybe my truck wouldn't have broken down 3 times on the road, & I could have started it at least! He then began pushing his brothers "Tow Service" on me, even though I'd told him 3X that I have already pay for AAA. When there were 3 mechanics looking at it, who just happened to be at the auto parts store, they all said that it didn't look like anything had been done, or even changed, as had been agreed. When I went to pick up another real "ODD DEAL", done on our Jeep, also at "Ramirez Auto", (a Jeep he'd had for months, but kept saying "he just couldn't get the parts for"). I asked him if what we'd agreed to do on the first vehicle had been done. His son immeaditly jumps in & says, "Well do you have your receipt"? Huh? "I picked it up a long time ago, so no, not on me". He then said, "You need to look at your receipt, to see what was done"! That's funny, since when I'd first brought it in, & I was going over what James what we'd had discussed having done, he was writing it down, so no, I didn't think I needed to refer back to the months old receipt? But this was the BEST PART, by far, Imo. His son begins to try to incorrectly paraphrase back to me, what he CLAIMED I'D said, pretty much along the lines of, (when I brought the first vehicle in). "You said that you were pretty poor, & you have a lot of vehicles that needed a lot of work, so you'd do it a little at a time, when you can"! Huh? Obviously I can't bring them ALL in, at the same time! What I'd said was, "I know this old truck looks like a beater, but it's my go-to ranch truck, it works great, even if it's not "pretty", but it's a good truck, so I'll be keeping it going, as long as it runs well". After any possible smog issues are gone over, & it's been smogged, I'll bring it back to see about possibly getting the sunroof fixed". What a crock! Lied to, talked down to, misquoted, & treated like an idiot? What more could I possibly ask for? I've NEVER been anything but polite & respectful to anyone there, so IDK what their deal with me is, but at this point, I really don't care! It's not like they've been "packed", but I'd always said, "No rush, if you get really busy". * Please read my review of the "BIGGEST SCAM" ever, that was done here, on a minor fix, on our Jeep, to be posted soon! read more

I knew there was something wrong with my power steering, but didn't want to go back to the mechanic who did my 90,000 tune up. I told them I thought my power steering was leaking, but they said there was nothing wrong with it. I decided to look for a new mechanic and googled mechanics in American Canyon. Ramirez Auto caught my eye, because they had a 5 star rating. I decided just to drop by and talk to them. I did get lost driving over there, but stopped and asked a guy in a nearby building and I was in the right vicinity so he directed me to the garage. Not only did I get a ride home, they picked me up when my car was ready. My power steering had to be flushed more than once. They had to order the part, because I did have a leak. They replaced the part and sealed everything up. I highly recommend Ramirez Auto, because they take pride in their work. read more

The best decision I've ever made was going to Ramirez auto shop. My car problems really turned my life upside down and it was such a struggle goin back and forth between my warranty company, the dealership, and trying to find a reliable auto Repair shop. He was very helpful throughout the whole process, me being so young and not knowing anything about cars, I really trusted Mr. James and his whole team.. he explained every situation to me for me to best understand. He didnt even have to put gas in my car yet he went out his way to do so knowing the condition I left it in. I am so happy to have my car again. I could write a whole book on how wonderful my whole experience is. If you knew what I was going through you'd understand why I'm so thankful and blessed to have come across this auto shop. The whole deal was shady. The guy seemed really nice and trustworthy when we met him, and got the repairs done by the next day, but did not provide an estimate or let us know what he was doing before he did it. He tried charging us over $950 parts and labor to replace calipers, rotor, and caliper hoses. My husband was the one to go pick the car up, and was shocked at the price, so he ended up giving us a "military discount" of $100 off (I'm guessing he could afford to with how much he charged us). I later looked up prices for the parts and it seems we were OVERCHARGED BY NEARLY 4x for the parts alone. He did not provide, nor can I find a license # for him or his business, the address here isn't even the one on the invoice he gave us, so I'm worried we got taken for a ride. I feel as though we have been taken advantage of, as we were stranded an hour from home with not many options when the car broke down. Would highly NOT recommend this mechanic - doesn't seem legal or trustworthy! Very disappointed in how a seemingly good experience turned out so wrong... not at all what I expected. read more
