Gene from Dancing Dog Massage came to my house to give massages to my two rescue dogs, Lily and Daisy. I had no concerns regarding Lily, who is very sweet and loves everyone. However, I was concerned about Daisy since, although she is also very sweet, she is very shy around strangers. It usually takes her several meetings before she accepts a "stranger" as a friend and allows that person to approach her and pet her. I was not sure Gene would be able to give her a massage due to her shyness. It was very possible that Daisy would be too afraid to let Gene approach her, and consequently, she would not get her massage. As a result of my concerns about Daisy, I had several conversations with Gene prior to his coming to my house. . As we discussed, my dogs and I met Gene out in front of my house. He knew exactly how to meet a shy dog. He spent time on the ground with me meeting Lily and getting licked all over, while Daisy watched with great interest, actually making several attempts to approach Gene. We went inside, and Gene set down a mat for the massages, and he even brought some soothing music that played during the massages. Lily's massage was first. About 10 to 15 minutes into the massage, Lily suddenly got up and ran around the room like a puppy, approaching Gene in multiple play bows, followed by lots of kisses. I couldn't believe it! It was really clear that Lily loved her massage! Daisy watched all of this and seemed to open up more to Gene. When it was Daisy's turn, Gene worked slowly, and soon Daisy was lying down, thoroughly enjoying her massage! I was struck by Gene's ability to approach and handle my shy dog. After Lily and Daisy ate dinner, they were so relaxed that they both had very long evening naps before bedtime, and both dogs slept well during the night!
