When my puppy was sick, Dr. Magda successfully cured an intestinal infection with Chinese herbs. We're also seeing Dr. Chau for our second dog, and she is incredible too! She is so intelligent and thoughtful. She even stayed after hours to give us advice and interpret labs for us. I've never had experience like this with another vet. Because of the cost, I needed some time before bringing my second cat in. During that time my second cat had a medical emergency -- a urinary blockage. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where the bill escalated quickly since everything was out of pocket. The emergency vet suggested that to save money, they could give me my cat's urine sample so my regular vet could run the lab tests instead of running them at the emergency hospital. I immediately called Holistika Vet because they were the only veterinarian I had an established relationship with. I was extremely distressed and crying because the emergency vet had told me there was a 50% chance my cat might not survive and that follow-up with my regular vet would be important. The receptionist told me it was their policy that they could not see my second cat because he had never been examined there before. I explained that I understood the policy but asked if they could at least run the urine tests (which I would pay for) to help us understand what caused the blockage. Unfortunately, I was told they could not do that either and that the tests would have to be done at the emergency hospital. The conversation felt very cold and unsympathetic during a moment that was extremely frightening for me as a pet owner. Fast forward to February 2026 -- I scheduled an appointment for both of my cats. A few days before the appointment I received an email canceling it, stating they would no longer see my pets because I had given attitude to the receptionist during the emergency call months earlier. I went in person to speak with management to explain the situation and my perspective. I was told they had no record of the conversation but were still refusing future care. For me, the most disappointing part of this experience was the lack of compassion during a very serious emergency and the refusal to even run a test that could have helped guide my cat's care. Thankfully, I have since found another holistic veterinarian in Glendale, California who has been incredibly supportive.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

I know that my dogs are always in good hands when I bring them to Glendora Pet Care Center. Unfortunately, one of my dogs crossed the Rainbow Bridge after being hit by a car. My other dog also crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 14 years old last week, and Dr. Huang gently helped him and made sure he was comfortable the whole time. We received a beautiful card with handwritten notes from all the staff and Dr. Huang a few days after and it was very touching and much appreciated. Through Dr. Huang's care, my dogs lived a long and comfortable life. I am truly so grateful to have found her to care for my dogs and will recommend all my family and friends to her.

Then I fostered a rescue that needs dental surgery. Their website says they work with 501(c)3 charities at their discretion. But because this cat is old and has some health issues, they won't see him. The receptionist recommended some other veterinary dental practices. It must be nice to turn down work. Since they can pick and choose their patients these days, then I'll share what they told me their criteria is if you're looking for a veterinary dentist.

I can't say Hearts and Halos was the first place that we called, but I can say that I'm so happy that we ended up using their services. Mari was at our house a little over 2 hours after we called. She had a kind and soft presence and was extremely empathetic. She made what is an unavoidably brutal experience just a little bit more manageable. I'm incredibly grateful that this type of service exists. Being able to spend his last moments with him in the place that we were certain he was comfortable and at ease was invaluable.

That was 5 years ago. I called them yesterday for a cremation certificate and information on traveling through airports because I've decided it's now time to spread Bear's ashes. The same lady who helped me 5 years ago called me back at 9am this morning. She didn't have all the answers I needed, but that's not the point. The point is she went out of her way to bring us to this full circle moment by again helping me say a different goodbye this time, and providing guidance through another painful phase of letting go. I brought my dog in for a routine anesthetic dental cleaning. During the procedure, I received a call saying they needed to extract four teeth and that the total would be $2,400. I've had anesthetic dental cleanings done for my dogs at multiple veterinary hospitals over the years, including procedures with extractions, and I have never paid anywhere near that amount. After my husband questioned the estimate, the cost suddenly dropped to around $1,000 for two extractions. That alone left us wondering how the original quote was determined. The pickup experience was even more disappointing. I was handed three pieces of paper with very little explanation and no medication. Every other veterinarian I've been to has sent my dog home with pain medication directly from the clinic. Instead, I was told I needed to call around to CVS and other pharmacies to find one that could fill the prescriptions. Meanwhile, my poor dog had just undergone oral surgery and was crying in pain. I had to take her home first, then immediately drive to CVS. Once there, the pharmacist spent over 30 minutes on the phone with the vet trying to clarify the prescriptions. Then came the most alarming part of the entire experience. One of the prescribed medications was rejected by the pharmacist because it contained xylitol, a sugar alcohol that is highly toxic to dogs and can be fatal if ingested. I was shocked that this prescription was written in the first place. Had the pharmacist not caught it, I could have unknowingly given my dog a medication containing an ingredient that poses a serious danger to dogs. That was the final straw. I have three dogs and recently moved to Long Beach, so I was hoping to find a veterinary clinic I could trust for years to come. Unfortunately, Pine Animal Hospital has lost what would have been a loyal customer. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic and would encourage others to look elsewhere.
