Well apparently every time I post a review of an incident that happened in the restaurant it gets taken down. Guess DTC doesn't want anyone to know that they failed to keep a table of three women and a young man in a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment because I watched that table get accosted and verbally abused by three men and no one in the restaurant came to their aid. Where was management? These women had to force these men to leave themselves. And then I heard they were attacked verbally out front and it was quite the scene with cops being called. The woman and young man came back in to finish their meal which I was glad to see but no one from the DTC came up to offer apologies. Very disgusting to see and made me feel unsafe. Won't come back for quite awhile, if ever. read more

Absolutely LOVE Dancing Tomato, the BEST locally owned restaurant in the Yuba-Sutter area that also serves adult beverages. The ambiance, food, service, and respect for customers cannot be outmatched. I wish, however, that breakfast was served later than 11 a.m. and that the restaurant would stay open until 11 p.m. for after-meeting adult beverages, which is non-existent in this area. I called to place a take out order and was looped around on the phone to a prerecorded message directing me to the owners' phone. I called back a few times and got the same loop. I looked up the menu online, and I found that the menu was 'blacked out' and I was unable to view. I tried calling back a fourth time. I was finally able to get through to place a to go order. When i got home, I unpacked it, and started in. The garlic bread was saturated in butter, which made it inedible. It appeared that the bread had been placed upwards and butter was poured upon it and it saturated it on the bottom of it, or maybe it was the top. Hard to tell. The Pasta Kaboom was overly saturated in sauce making the pasta too soft and mushy. And the chicken was mushy and did not have the right texture. I had this issue with the chicken there in the past a few times, but thought that this might be different and gave them a chance once again. I ate a little, but not the chicken and ended up throwing the rest away. This was $25 dinner, all of which was inedible. I will not go back again; since I have given this place quite a few chances, and each time they have shown that the food is not up to parr. read more

Just A little surprised it rated so highly. The place is good. This place is large and can accommodate larger groups. We had a family gathering of 12 and they did really well. Never felt rushed while we waited for everyone to arrive. Something on the menu for everyone from steak to pasta to salads to pizza. Appetizers were good too. read more

Blatant disregard for COVID-safe dining policies. No mask enforcement whatsoever. Came by en route through town and felt very uncomfortable in the very short time I was there. So uncomfortable I later called the manager, Daniel, to express concern and urge them to please adhere to safe COVID-19 safe practice guidelines. His response? "That's your opinion, I have mine, we are trying to run a business here and I am personally against the government and it's only a guideline." Basically they don't care how many people show up without masks to their over-crowded INDOOR dining establishment. He also said 'well we are closing today as recommended anyways' as if the people who've been out at risk so far due to their negligence is inconsequential despite state mandates. Not only were customers not required to wear masks, but many employees didn't wear them properly either (noses hanging out on most.) DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. REPORT THEM TO LOCAL HEALTH OFFICIALS. read more

By far one of my favorite places in town; no matter how busy it is, the service is always great and the servers are always so pleasant. My food always comes out to taste great & I love how a lot of their food is locally sourced plus weekly specials that are always amazing. 10/10 would recommend read more

Great breakfast service! You also get to enjoy the soft music from yesteryear playing in the background while you have a feast. I've had the following so far... *Crab Cake Benedict: It was delicious, but there wasn't enough crab meat to enjoy. It was a thin crab cake, but I like that it was crispy and a little crunchy because it wasn't mushy all the way through. The hollandaise, however, was a bit thick and heavy. *Asparagus Benedict: This dish is seasonal, but it needs to be axed from the side menu. I love asparagus, but not for an Eggs Benedict. I do appreciate that the hollandaise was thinned out as I requested because it made a difference in the dish. *Denver Omelet: Ordered this to go for a family member, and it was enjoyed with an average rating received. *Belgian Waffle: Ordered to go as well with the same result. Having to be in Yuba City we decided to stop here for lunch. The service was OK. We ordered the hamburger & fries special. I ordered the Gardenburger, however it was more like a black bean burger, which I don't care for. Had the menu said "black bean burger" I would not have ordered it. Sigh. The other thing I was disappointed in is the burger sandwiches had shredded lettuce on them. Shredded lettuce on a burger? It just doesn't work unless you enjoy playing with your food as you eat. I much prefer the crunch of the lettuce as you eat a burger. I will say the thousand Island dressing I requested as a sauce for the burger was really good. The hubster ordered the regular burger and fries. The burger was a little tough. He requested the fries to be extra crispy. When they came to the table they were anything but extra crispy. So he returned them in hopes that they would come back extra crispy. They came back not much different than the first time. A gal did come out from the back to say they had new oil in the fryer and they recognized the fries were not what they should've been so they took them off of the bill. To that we were grateful. I'm hopeful they'll figure their fryer out! Enough about the burgers. Let's move onto dessert. Chocolate Lasagna. It was warm which was nice. However, I think it was put into the microwave which made it a little tough to chew; and the ice cream tasted grainy like it may have been melted, formed into a square to fit the top of the "brownie", then refroze. The top of the brownie had what appeared to be sweetened condensed milk mixed with coconut. The whole thing was then topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate. Would I get it again? Probably not. Not a bad little café. I may return and try something different. On a high note? The sweet potato fries were good! read more

In Yuba city there aren't many option to choose from, but I remembered this place existing. I hadn't been back for about 7 years. We were greeted but a young lady, Dalice, who seemed nice but was flirting with the guy at our table. She kept using strange verbiage that seemed in inappropriate. "What else do you desire??" We all looked at her like she was crazy? Who says that? The food was just ok, not as good as I remembered. Greasy, oily and overpriced for what you get. Not sure I am ok with that response. I mean, this was around 6:30pm. So it was the evening dinner crowd. So, did they not know that they should have bread baking?? I cannot accept that as "ok". Seems small and I just don't care anymore. If you (cooks; manager) KNOW that bread is customarily served with your plates, then do what is necessary to have enough ready. It is supposed to be an Italian restaurant. Right?? Have more bread makers back there. Maybe? I do not blame the server at all, unless she is the one actually baking the bread. I'm kind of mixed about this restaurant. The service was good, my coffee was always filled and our needs (baby inclusion) were always tended to. The rub, as it were, comes from the food and price. I ordered the corned beef and hash, my wife ordered the french toast. Both portions were sizeable (especially mine), even given their price ($10, and $8). But my eggs were... weird? Hard to tell if my scrambled eggs were reconstituted or simply batch blended earlier in the day, but they were a bit unpleasant. My plain home fries were good, and the corned beef was definitely full flavored and a step above what most restaurants offer from a can. The Italian bread "toast" was welcomed with the meal, and I ate far too much of it. The biggest shock was the $2.79 for our coffees- none of their drink prices are listed on the menu and perhaps that should have been my first warning. But that brought our breakfast for two (again, french toast, corned beef and hash, and two coffees) to over $25- which at the very least is well above what one might expect for the area, especially with just "good" food. The food was mostly good, the service was good, but the price/food goodness puts it out of line for the area. If you've got a hankering for a big plate and consistent corned beef and hash it is worth the trip (as long as you don't buy drinks), otherwise there are places in the area that do breakfast just as well without the exorbitant price tag (though that Italian "toast" is really nice). If they allowed half stars, I've give the place 3.5 read more

Now I haven't eaten dinner or lunch here often I've had breakfast after work here many times. (I work nights) My favorite thing about. This place is the full bar! There's nothing like a mimosa & a dirty martini after work. Especially with the French toast. I like the atmosphere @ the restaurant, yeah it's a little theme-y, but it's comfy & good for families and dates. I don't think I've had a bad meal while here. Food was good. Price average. Waitress was very nice. She did good taking care of us. Had some tomato basil soup that was real good. Like the house bread. Sometimes they seem a little stingy with it. This waitress gave us plenty of bread. My wife's sandwich was great. We have been going there for years. They have a few bitchy waitress'. The big turn off for me is that the men's room always stinks like piss. Get some bleach and give it a thorough cleaning at least once a week. If the bathrooms are filthy, it makes you wonder about the kitchen. Might try the Olive Garden right next door next time. read more

Went for lunch with the parents visiting for the first time this afternoon and this is a hidden gem. The decor is fun, the food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Our server, Markee, was on point with her food recommendations and very personable. The food was excellent as well; bacon wrapped asparagus, pastrami calzone, eggplant parm and fried halibut were all very tasty and pretty large portions. One day, my husband walked and I walked into DTC, and after we were sat, our amazing waiter named Dalton asked if we wanted an appetizer. My husband asked what he recommended and Dalton, our waiter, suggested the pesto breadsticks (with ranch) and over the past year I have ordered these breadstick approx. 10 times to include for my post birth meal and my birthday meal.
