Visited May 15 with my friend. First of all their website says they are open at 10am on Fridays. Well that was wrong... they open at 11am on Fridays. When you call the phone number you can't leave a message until someone is there to answer. So disappointing! They have a full bar and alot of specials. Stuck with the tacos. Nothing special. They have live music I think on the weekends. Won't be back for lack of communication. Ps. My girlfriend treated me so no receipt. read more

I don't know where to even start. I was bouncing back and forth between choosing mexican food or sushi. I remember walking by Agave and wanting to give them a try. The interior is spacious and the atmosphere is inviting and culturally authentic. I was greeted by a young lady and taken to a table where i promptly started with a water and diet soda. Chips and salsa were brought out and the freshness was visually apparent. I wanted to order the Spaghetti Bolognese, however i was informed that the Italian chef had called out and that everything on the back of the menu was unavailable. I settled on the flauta platter and the quesabirria tacos. After a moderate wait, the flautas were brought out, followed shortly by the tacos. I began eating the rice and beans with chips, as silverware wasn't provided until the tacos arrived. The rice and beans were top notch and hit the spot. Unfortunately, i can't say the same about the items that actually require skill to create. The flautas were overwhelmed by the taste of aged cooking oil and the quesabirria tacos were softer than silk. I bent them in the photo to show how disappointing they were. Salt and pepper on the table could have helped flavor the food, but nothing was ever provided. The establishment was fairly empty at 7:30pm, and I guess i can kind of put together why. The presentation and advertised expectations of a higher-end dining experience simply don't mesh with the reality, where the food turned out to be standard mediocrity. i left saying 5-6 / 10 for a rating - so im going with 3 yelp stars. Came in to try this new restaurant around 3pm on a Wednesday. We were happy to see familiar faces. (The owner here also owns one of our other favorite places : ) The employee which gave us our menus came over and gave suggestions on the Italian food. She said the portions are huge and that one would be enough to share. We ordered the spaghetti carbonara and arancini. The spaghetti had plenty of cheese, perfectly cooked spaghetti and tasted good. The arancini (rice didn't look like it was cooked to a risotto) was good too. Perfectly fried and served with a flavorful marinara. What a great new place. It has both Mexican and Italian. Our server told us that the Italian is always cooked fresh. We are so happy we tried it out today. The restaurant itself is clean and open. Very modern with a long bar area. read more

We had always came to this restaurant for years under the old ownership. We thought we would give this place a try under the new ownership. 1. The chips were cold and hard. Tasted stale. 2. Took forever to order. 3. Server never came by to ask about refills. 4. I had to go ask for the check because the server was eating her lunch and didn't realize we had been sitting for almost 15minutes. 5. No lunch menu. I ordered the chicken flautas. They were super dry. My husband ordered the carne asada fries and barely touched them because the fries were super greasy and the meat was over cooked. 6. I read about the reopening with new owners and I thought oh great maybe it will be good now. So my friend and I went for lunch here's what I experienced. 1. No one to greet us or seat us. Waiting was kinda long. 2. No chips and salsa brought to the table and when I asked why, I was told by a very young waitress that they ran out of chips. WHAT? 3. I ordered a beer on tap and it was not at all cold , so I had to order a glass of ice to pour my beer over cause my beer has to be ice cold. 4. We placed our order and let me say this, the prices were super high btw $18 & $25 for a Mexican lunch??? No lunch menu , you have to order off the dinner menu. 5. This one is the worst one of all , The wait for our food to come out was way too long , I'm going to say 45 min. and we were told 2 times that our food would be right out. WHY LIE ? that does not help the situation. The food was very tasty and the guacamole dish was just plain not at all like the menu said it would be. Had to ask for a fork and spoon No salt and pepper. We got hot sauce in a bottle when we first sat down and ketchup? I just have to say when you have to keep flagging the server down and asking for things is a little annoying. And when you want to pay your bill she's right there not paying attention. I hope this place works out for the nice couple who took it over. But there has to be a lot of changes. read more

We went to Agave Bar on a Friday for a double date and honestly had one of the worst dining experiences. From the start, there was no real greeting even though we were the only people inside. The server wasn't attentive or friendly, and we constantly had to ask for refills on drinks, chips, and salsa. When we tried to order pasta (which was clearly listed on the menu), we were told it wasn't available because there was no cook. That alone was a huge red flag. On top of that, after we had already spent over $200 on food alone (not including drinks), the band came in and we were suddenly told we'd have to pay $40 for a table plus $40 per person just to stay and watch the band--even though the place was empty and we were already seated and eating. Why wouldn't they have told us this in the beginning? What kind of business kicks out paying customers or demands extra charges for live music after they've already dropped that much money on dinner? Overall, the lack of service, unavailable food, and shady way they handled the live music charges made this a place I'll never return to or recommend. There are plenty of better spots that actually value their customers. read more

This place was not great. The buffet was plain and nothing was good. It consisted of meats in various juices which I could not differentiate. The menudo tasted like it had cinnamon in it or some spice that doesn't go in Menudo. They put canela on the buffet table and don't tell you it is $3 a cup, lol. One of my girlfriends and I went there for the first time. really was no one else in the restaurant, customer wise. She and I sat at the bar and we were asked if we wanted a drink gave our order and three different people were then told the order before it was made. We ordered our food, and my friends food was not correct. The food was not great and after the food was delivered, no one checked back in with us to see how it was or asked us if we wanted another drink or anything. We were ignored basically until it was time to get the check, which we had to ask for. I will not be going back to this place. read more

Place was somewhat busy, waited a bit to be seated until it got awkward as not one person even acknowledged we were there. It was obvious they saw us but were too busy socializing behind the bar. Went to Agave after reading they had Italian dishes on the dinner menu and decided to give it a try. Chicken Marsala is one of my favorite dishes and Agaves delivered! Classic marsala wine mushroom sauce, sauteed veggies and potatoes on the side with crusty Italian bread. Absolutely delicious (and yes, I have tried the Chicken Marsala at the four local area restaurants that offer it). The gentleman sitting nearby had the Caldo De Res, and asked for a small bowl to give us a taste and it was spot on (my wife is a Latina). Tiramisu for dessert that was perfect. If they offered some good Italian wines on their menu it would have been a perfect meal. Great service. We will definitely go back. read more

My partner and I always came here to eat brunch on Sundays when it was Iguanas. She loved the Albóndiga caldo and I would always get the Tampiqueña. We loved their food, would give it 5/5. We came to Agave not knowing what to expect. We were pleased to see that our favorite server was still there because she is on it with taking care of the customers. She informed that it's still the same staff as iguanas just different owners. We were surprised when we saw the menu because there was barely any Mexican Dishes on there, most of the Mexican dishes are only served from 8am to 1pm. They had a whole section dedicated to pastas which is very odd for a Mexican place. When a different waiter came to take our order we both wanted a agua Fresca. We were flabbergasted when they told us that they only had soft drinks and no agua frescas. My partner ordered some quesobirrias with consome, they were good 4/5, I got the Mex Agava which was decent 3.5/5 I felt like there was not enough meat. When we were done and trying to pay we saw that our favorite waiter was doing a million at once while the other 3 waiters were standing next to the register talking. We waited about 10-15 minutes to get our check to pay. Take into account the restaurant wasn't that busy. Overall we were very disappointed with the menu because the selection for "Mexican Plates" is very limited for a Mexican restaurant. read more

My fiancé and I decided to give this restaurant a try. We came on a Wednesday night it wasn't busy at all. Server told us to that we can sit where ever we like, she was a really nice server. Chips and salsa were really good, green and red were both equally spicy. We ordered carne asada fries and Birria fries. Birria fries were absolutely delicious, meat was tender and juicy and the fries were well seasoned. Carne asada fries were really good as well, almost as good as the Birria fries. Inside was very nice and clean. Overall my first time was very good. Definitely coming back to try other foods. read more

Went there on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30. Not very busy. My friend was already there and had gotten her drink. When I got there it took almost 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. It took another maybe 15 minutes to receive our drinks. Mine was extremely watered down. We ordered food and a whole hour went by as we saw people come in after us order and get their food. Along with every other party that was there around the same time we arrived. When our server finally checked on us and we asked about our food she immediately came back with it along with an apology. Was recommended by a friend because it always looked packed and like a good place to try. Definitely not. The food took way too long to come out given the restaurant was pretty much empty. Never got checked on during the meal, offered refills for drinks, nor apologized for the long wait.
