Sunsets are right in front of the hotel and just so dramatic. It's nice to just chill on the beach, lots of room & not many people. Lots of options for walking. The food was really good, the restaurant on the beach was always packed with people. They have live music on the beach during happy hour. Everything closes down by 8/8:30pm so if you're looking for an active night scene, Ka'anapali isn't the spot for you. They will try to get you to go to a presentation about timeshares. Since we had access to the lanai, the food was good and kept us from need needing to leave the resort for food. We had both breakfast and dinners there. The pool is fantastic. They have both family and adult pools and hot tubs. The kids pool has a fantastic waterslide - we did not try it but it looks like fun! Nearby, you have a restaurants and either side, a small shopping center just to the north, a Monkeypods Kitchen near there, a Safeway which is only about 10 minutes away (with good traffic).

But could they not do this in the offseason instead of the summer? 2) On the last day, there was a roach in our room. Partly our fault for leaving food out. When the cleaners came mid-week, they did an immaculate job. But they only come once every few days. And so you'll want to take your own food garbage out, especially if you're on the ground floor. Location wise - Lahaina and Napili are both within 10-mins drive. There's a Safeway in Lahaina 10-mins away and several restaurants + food trucks within a few minutes as well.

Condo does not address repairs -AC filter was filthy and the AC would not cool until the filter was removed. None of my concerns were ever addressed after many text messages and calls. I spent my time calling and text messaging OWNER. Upon entering the room, we were immediately confronted with the following unsanitary and unacceptable conditions:-Heavy dust accumulation on multiple surfaces, indicating a lack of routine cleaning-What we didn't know the unit smelled musty/moldy, None of this shows on pictures. This is not the first negative review of this complex. They date back to 2012. This is an ongoing issue and all they care about is renting regardless of the condition of the units.

Sheets were dirty, stained, and dressers were missing knobs and broken. What are people paying yearly for if it isn't upkeep of the rooms? The only saving grace?? Amber who does the booking for excursions. She is by far one of the nicest, funniest, amazing individual to book and find you the best excursion. Amber should get all the props for everything about this place. Let's also talk about the pool. The pool was great honestly but there is no security to help with only having it be resort guests only. Many locals come in and use it as well because people let them in or leave it unlocked. The jacuzzi at points was never warm and was filmy and nasty. This was my first time staying here and I was hoping for much better but it was a disappointment apart from Amber.

No mega paths, large parking structures and no multiple towers and structures to find your hotel room. Also, daily parking was $12 a day, very reasonable. LANI and the other Monk Seals that make their beach frontage their home was such a pleasant surprise. Volunteers rope off the sleeping seals creating and monitoring the perimeter. This protects the seal and the observer. Rooms are kept up and there is a lot of painting and upkeep throughout the grounds. It may not be super new but it is a condo style hotel room. There are extra charges, as all Hawaii hotels for GE, TA, amenity fee, and GE & TA amenity tax on that fee, in addition to a County TA tax for rooms and amenity fee. $89 in taxes and fees are added per day. It makes the $12 for 24 hour parking sound really good. Just a surprise added on tax bill for me. Staff everywhere were professional and embodied the Aloha spirit. I felt overall, I got what I paid for. Also, one can walk over to a shopping center that has a supermarket and lots of restaurants and bars. Also, there is a food truck park open in the evenings. A great location for things to do.

The property has a very family-friendly feel, and my son loved exploring the beautiful grounds. The lobby and overall ambiance of the hotel have a very traditional Hawaiian feel. The restaurant here on the property was also very good, and the prices were much more affordable than many of the other options in the area. The décor in our room was beautiful. I especially loved the teak tropical furniture. We were on the top floor, the ninth level, with an ocean view. Our room was set farther back on the property, but we still had a beautiful view and a wonderful place to sit and eat breakfast while watching the waves each morning. We really got to enjoy Mauka to Makai--mountains out the front door and the ocean from our lanai (patio). The air conditioning worked great. It was also wonderful to open the lanai doors and let the fresh ocean trade winds come through. The kitchen was nice and stocked with very basic dishes, pots, and pans. It was enough to make things work, although you may want to bring or pick up anything specific you know you'll need. There is also an ice maker, which was great. We froze some plastic bottles of tea and water at night and used them in our little day cooler during the day. There is a Times Supermarket directly across the street, and it is VERY easy to walk to. There is also an ABC Store just a three-minute walk away. On the side of the front entrance, there is a gathering area with about 10 or so food trucks. This was a great option because everyone could get whatever food they wanted. We also had a stackable washer and dryer in our room, which was wonderful--especially when traveling with a child. I loved the entrance to this hotel. It was very Hawaiian and beautiful, yet understated. There are plenty of plumeria trees, so you get that wonderful tropical fragrance as you walk in. There is a small convenience store inside the hotel that carries many basic staples, along with some fun gifts. There is also West Maui Sports & Fishing in the lobby, which has basic snorkel and scuba gear. My son needed flippers, and we were able to get a good-quality pair there at a very reasonable price. I also needed a few things, and they had everything I was looking for. There is also a Snorkel Bob's across the way near Times Supermarket. The hotel offers a few fun activities and amenities, including local artists on certain days, lei-making, and ukulele lessons. Be sure to check the schedule to see what activities are being offered during your stay. A Few Cons The bed was a little softer than I usually prefer, but the linens and towels were very nice. When I called housekeeping and asked for extra sheets and blankets for the pull-out couch, they brought them up promptly. The rooms can also be a little noisy. You can hear other doors closing, especially from rooms across the hall, and occasionally you can hear car alarms going off. I used a white-noise machine and slept just fine. Overall, this was a wonderful first experience for my son visiting Hawaii. I lived on Oahu for a few years in the past, so I was especially happy to bring him to such a beautiful place and let him experience the swimming pools, the beach, and the island. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay with a family, I highly recommend Kaanapali Shores. It won't be the fanciest hotel you've ever stayed at, but to me, it feels very Hawaiian, welcoming, and local, with beautiful Hawaiian décor. All of the staff and workers we encountered were very friendly and kind. We had a wonderful six days here and would happily stay again.

Our room was nicely furnished with Hawaiian themed furniture and a palm Fran Fan that I thought was quite neat. The room 108a was clean and had adequate towels and a small kitchenette. It had no view. But it was relatively quiet and we were able to sleep well. The hotel has a parking structure, which is near the rooms getting can be challenging at prime time not to mention the speed bumps which are incredibly large) drive super slow over them your core suspension will thank you. Parking was included in the fee for the hotel. The few staff The location is good because it's near the beaches where there's good snorkeling. It is not a five star resort and the people who go to the this hotel and condo complex are not 5 star resort types. If you're looking for white Lotus, I would check another place. Overall, I'm not sure I would book this place again. It is a worthy consideration, depending on your needs. Once again, don't forget those pesky speed bumps.

Maui Banyan H-210...The property was infested with roaches. This is our third trip to Maui, and we understand that island living means there will be some pests. A few roaches here and there was expected. The other places we stayed at we have never encountered roaches. At Maui Banyan H-210, we were having to kill on average at least 10 roaches a day. This even after we went to the store and purchase bug spray. The front desk apparently did not have any nor did they offer a solution. We only used the oven once because when we turned it on at least 40 roaches came out. This after we had already sprayed the area the night before. This is not acceptable. According to their handbook the property is treated for pests regularly. This is not the case because we encountered more than what we should of for a place that was treated. The roaches were not only in the kitchen they were in the front bathroom, dining area, living area and even the primary bedroom. This particular property H-210 has not been maintained. The tile flooring was dirty. It looks liked it had not been mopped for a good while. The carpet was ridiculously stained and had not been vacuumed in a while. The sliding doors to the patio were not maintained and we struggled to opened them. The dining chairs were very stained and dirty. Shower floors and tub were both extremely dirty. Ceiling fan blades were coated with dirt/dust, apparently not maintained either. Furniture, curtains, windows, everything was super old, dirty, and worn. We should not have to make a trip to Walmart to buy bug spray and Lysol spray and Clorox wipes. Additionally, we needed to purchase a pillow because none was provided for the sofa bed. The safe did not work. We were on vacation and for the price we paid we should not have to be doing the housekeeping and maintenance of the unit. Everything was super old and dirty. The pictures posted on the internet for H-210 did not reflect the reality of the place.

There are two pools, both kept at a comfortable temperature that makes for a refreshing dip. They allow guests to use the amenities while waiting for their room to be ready, which we appreciated since we arrived early. The hotel also provides free bikes for exploring the area, and there's a happy hour at the pool bar. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would happily return for another stay.
