07/05/25 update (previous review here was five years ago and I am STILL a loyal client! Do these stars go up to 11?! (Spinal Tap reference, lol.) I finally tried the lash and brow tinting and I am happy to say, and not at all surpised, that my eyes are popping!! I can't use eye make-up because of having Multiple/ Hyper Chemical Sensitivity and have been hesitant to try tinting for that reason. Super glad I finally decided to go for it; it was such an easy process and so relaxing! My eyes and skin did not have any adverse reaction whatsoever. Two weeks later and my lashes and brows still look great! Definitely adding these two services to my regular list! Not having a professional facial in over two and a half years, my pores were screaming for attention. Having recently moved, I needed to find a new aesthetician. I found Sue's Dandelion Waxing Studio. I recall going to her once over 10 years ago when she had a studio in midtown Sacramento. Setting an appointment was super easy using the online scheduling system. A minor thing to note is that when I scheduled my appointment, the pricing is the most current on the scheduling system and the online pricing on the website was outdated. The pricing was not outrageous. Sue is so fun and easy going. Luv be her energy and attitude. She knows how to create the right environment. If you want to relax, she has you covered. If you are a chatterbox, she has you covered. Her studio room has a calm and relaxing vibe. Her table reclines and is heated. Ooolala. Capital P... Pampering. I had a late afternoon appointment. Sue is a great aesthetician. I understandably left with a slight tingling face and a bit sore from the extractions. The next morning, my face was radiant. Pores not so noticeable as before. No discomfort. I felt great. Her studio is in a business office complex. The building and respective parking lot is between the gas station and brewery restaurant. read more

I love Sue! She is so friendly and great to chat with. She is very efficient without compromising quality. I've experienced several waxers over the years and she is by far the quickest. She actually cares about what's best for people even if it means losing business... ie me to laser after 3ish years with Sue :(. I LOVE Sue! Her space is welcoming and cozy and she is just overall an amazing and very entertaining person, which can definitely make something like a Brazilian wax much more manageable! Very way to book online and she also hasn't tired of me sending messages asking if she has any last minute openings. I've gone to her for waxes for quite a few years now and she recently also started doing lashes and she's great at that too! I have fine, blonde lashes with no curl and after a little lash lift it looks like I put makeup on for the day! This is VERY helpful little treat since I have 3 little ones and have not worn makeup daily in years. I have gotten a couple facials from her and those were also very magical. 5 stars!! I had the best experience here. Sue is the sweetest and really good at what she does! This is only my second time getting waxed and I swear I didn't feel any pain this time. My first experience was painful (which is normal because I wasn't used to it and my hair was thicker) but this time wasn't painful at all. I kept anticipating pain, but Sue kept a conversation going the whole time and made the whole experience very comfortable. I also liked that I didn't leave feeling all sticky, Sue gave me oil and wipes to help with the stickiness and I liked that. She was really fast and efficient too! Update : after sending Sue a text, she responded with much kindness and professionalism. I will not be returning but I can appreciate her effort to make it right. ------ I was not at all satisfied with my experience at Dandelion Spa. During the service I kept thinking it would get better, and afterwards I kept telling myself I was overreacting or maybe that this was just the standard of service available in the area. I even made another appointment 4 weeks out, but with more thought I have decided this can't be the local standard. I could not get to my regular esthetician all the way in Oakland this month, so I gave Sue a chance. I'm so disappointed in myself for straying. 1. Sue did not put the customary sheet of paper over the table before my service (you know the kind a doctor pulls over the table for each patient ? I'm used to waxing spas doing that). That was red flag number one, but I felt too anxious to speak up and just hoped the towel she put down was clean. 2. In my 7 years getting waxed, I have never had a Brazilian done with strip wax. It is dramatically more painful than hard wax. IMMENSELY. I can't stress enough how shocked I was. How shocked my SKIN was. 3. I am accustomed to the esthetician pressing the skin to minimize pain after removing a wax strip; Sue did not. She was fast, which is appreciated, but rough. I would rather someone take the time to be thorough but gentle. 4. I am also accustomed to the esthetician thoroughly wiping down the area with oil at completion; Instead I was handed a tiny strip of fabric with a squirt of oil on it to wipe myself down. What ? My skin was inflamed for two days. And by day 3 I had stubble (assuming the rough waxing broke the hair off in some places instead of pulling it from the root). I haven't had stubble in almost a decade. I have NEVER had hair 3 days after a wax. My regular esthetician takes about the same amount of time, is gentle, clean and charges the same I don't know if the good reviews are from people with a different standard than I have, or if I caught her on a bad morning, but I won't be returning. read more

My mom was seeing her for waxing & facials and encouraged me to try her, and I'm so glad I did. Sue is amazing! The only esthetician I will go to! Not only does she genuinely care about her clients, she is fantastic at what she does. The spa is a clean, friendly and a relaxing environment (even though I get waxing done). I've never had an issue with stubble or ingrown hairs. I have been a client of Sue's for ten years due to her professional manner, knowledge regarding skin care and overall attention to detail when it comes to my skin (both care and waxing). Sue is an expert at making the most of the time you spend with her. I never have to wait for her to finish a prior client and she is always prepared for my service. I have left estheticians in the past who often are, "a little behind schedule" or trying to "squeeze someone in before" me. I saw Sue initially just for waxing, but due to her background and knowledge about skin care-I took her advice and started on a regular skin care regime that had my skin looking fabulous in a short period of time. I had been seeing an esthetician/Waxer for 10+ years and due to unforeseen occurrences I am unable to see her at this time. As a result I was scared but excited to find all the positive reviews about Sue. The salon is small but very quaint and charming. Parking is on the street however there are no meters making that extremely convenient. This Spa is centrally located and right off of Broadway on 18th. Drop off your car next-door at Scrub Boys while you come in for waxing. LOL. Sue is a sweet woman, easy to talk to and I did not get that "burn" after she took off the wax; that's stinging feeling that you get sometimes which feels like someone has slapped your face with a wet towel. Dandelion is the place to go to get away from it all and be pampered for us busy women who only have a lunch hour to get errands done. The convenient downtown location has plenty of parking. I love the facials, waxing, and massage treatments. I faithfully get my brows done and they look fan-tas-tic. I get SO many compliments. Sue is an artist! She also gives the most relaxing facials with a mini-arm/had massage I've ever experienced. She is gentle and firm - nurturing and kind. AND the prices are very reasonable for the service provided. before going to Sue I always did hard wax and thought that it was the "less painful option" compared to soft, after seeing Sue I'll never go back to hard wax (unless it's an emergency). I go here for both waxing and facials and have been for several years. My facial today was amazing - Sue made my skin look like glass and I frequently get compliments on it (thanks Sue!). She also waxes my bikini and face (not necessarily at the same time!) and is very efficient with attention to detail. I gladly drive to Folsom for appointments even though there are many spas geographically more convenient - the services are worth it.
