DON'T GO HERE FOR SIMPLE ALTERATIONS!! call around first Phoenix first; there has to be a cheaper place. Since when did these alterations become so expensive?! I had a pair of pants that I wanted tapered (about $55) and hemmed ($18) and a pair of shorts that needed a new zipper (~$28) For those two items the price was greater than $100! Holy cow! They also make you pay upfront. That's when I should have took my items and left... but I didn't.... major regret. The quality was good but it was simple alterbationand that was way overpriced. I ordered a custom gown for my pageant, and the designer did not add the crinoline lining I had for and I had barely over a week to get it altered and in the middle of Christmas/New Year. I got a bridesmaids dress altered here. I came in for an appointment, was fitted quickly, and out of there in under 10 minutes. A little disconcerting but I fine. Quality - great quality. The dress fit nicely and when I needed a small fix from picking it up, easy fix and quick to do it. The hook and eye in the zipper came out while I was dancing at the wedding, but I'm assuming that was my fault for over boisterous dance moves. Communication - I got nervous because a week out I hadn't heard from anyone about picking up the dress. They said they'd call back and let me know, and then never did. I had to call back a second time, but then got a set date to come in and get the dress. That was fine because I had some time, but I can only imagine how stressful/annoying that could be if you're busy or a bride. Price - expensive. I paid $210 for the dress and my alterations were $148. The "cups" that I got talked into adding for support were nothing more than padding added w/ 2 stitches to the inside of dress. I could have picked out shoulder pads and added them for the same effect. I will say that I picked up my dress and decided I needed more support in the ladies and called frantically at 8am the next morning to see if they could fit me in to put a couple stitches in the front and was able to get it done that same day. Horrible business! I purchesed a lovely silk and a vogue pattern for a mother of the groom dress. I left it with her several weeks in advance. Unfortunately, she did not start work on the dress until the weekend before I needed it. Many horror stories later, I ended up purchasing an outfit the day before the wedding. I had a bridesmaid dress shortened here and the alterations turned out perfect! At first, I was a little shocked at the price but after talking to others, I found that it wasn't the cheapest but also wasn't the most expensive, it was right in the middle! The reason for the 3 stars is that I felt that I was being pushed into services that I didn't need, i.e. bra cups put in the dress (my dress already had some but she said they weren't good enough?) and steaming for a pretty hefty charge. I didn't get either of those. The service wasn't the best as it felt pushy and not warm and fuzzy but hey, I was just getting alterations done, I guess I don't need to be best friends with the employees there? ;) Also, my dress wasn't done when I was promised (And it had been there for almost a month!). Thank goodness I called to check up on it before picking it up! If you leave clothes here and need them for an important date {like a wedding} be sure to call and check up if you're cutting it close with time! read more

The prices here are an absolute joke. I took some Old Navy shorts in for my 10 year old son. He needed them shortened 1 inch as a part of his school uniform. The shorts cost about $15 and the guy comes back and tells me it will be $25 to hem them! I said in a very nice way that I needed to think about that price as it seemed high and even cost more than the shorts themselves. He proceeded to take the pins out very quickly and hand the shorts back to me with a HUGE attitude. I called an old neighbor of mine who is a seamstress out of her home. She gets referrals from Cache, Saks and Escada and she said she does lots of school uniforms. Her price is $10! I DO NOT recommend Danese. You can find a seamstress or someone at a drycleaner for half the price or less. read more

I just walked into Dannese's Creations to pick up several items I left two weeks ago. I was told it was going to be done last Saturday. I never received a phone call so I walked in and this is what happened... I walked and Danese herself said to me " even though I'm a paying customer I'm not as important as her brides are." In addition because she has had several girls out my things have been put on the last thing to do on the list. I'm sorry but I paid over $300 for approximately 3 alterations and some buttons to be changed on a jacket!! I believe that I'm just as important of a customer as her brides are! I am sorry but this IS NOT acceptable for someone who charges so much money to fix such a simple hem. Anyhow, this is the only place I would go to get anything tailored because I can drop it off and not stress for a second that it will be tailored perfectly. Sure, you might save money by finding a friend of a friend who has a neighbor who owns a sewing machine, but if you want tailoring miracles to occur (like the time she turned one of my many awful-fitting bridesmaid dresses into something that looked couture -- trust me, the other bridesmaids gave me the evil eye), then you'll go here. Sylvia is a miracle worker! Several months ago I brought my wedding dress in to be altered and she did a beautiful job! Then, I had a slight emergency this week when a bridesmaids dress I was supposed to wear wouldn't zip, the day before the wedding! I brought a bride's maid dress here over 4 years ago. I'm really petite (I'm 4'11'' and a size 00), so bride's maid dresses are always a pain. For this one, I had to order the smallest size (2), which was HUGE! Danese completely redid my dress and it is now my best-fitting dress. It feels like it was made just for me (which it kind of was)! Danese is a little expensive, but TOTALLY worth the money. They are professional and do amazing work. Danese Creations rescued my dress. Twice. My ambitious vision for a gala dress came out frumpy by another tailor, and Scylvia made it classy. My instructions were unclear on one aspect of the dress, which she re-did at no extra charge. THEN, I forgot to pick up my dress in advance from the dry cleaner she had recommended, and was locked out over memorial day weekend just three hours before the gala. I couldnt get the cleaners on the phone so I tried Scylvia hoping she had their contact information. Even though it was completely my fault and at the last minute, AND she was also closed, she promptly called me back saying she had already talked to the cleaners owner and he was on his way to release my dress. So, she rescued my dress twice lol. read more

I started going here five years ago for custom bras. They're not cheap but I look amazing, the fit is great and I was measured several times to get the correct size. Over the years I GI back to get the bras taken in and everyone there is wonderful. I've not needed a formal gown but they're equally lovely and the bead work is amazing. I had taken my favorite pair of pants to another company to have the button replaced because it had ripped through the material and was told that the only way to keep that button without placing a new (completely different button that didn't match) was to hold it in place with a safety pin! I drove about an hour plus through Phoenix traffic, in the summer to get there. I was not dissapointed. I had a dress altered, and yes it was pricy, but Yes, it was worth it. Holy expensive!!! I will never go back! I had a simple pencil work skirt that needed a little hem and to be let out a tiny bit. I guess I should have asked for a quote, because when I got to the register to pay (which is a pre job done btw) it was $65!!! I should have just said thanks, but no thanks, but I was in such shock, I paid it. The two stars are for the fact that the alteration seemed to be done well. Overall, a bad experience.
