Dr. Danesh called and emailed me about this review, and asked me to edit it, so here's my edit: Dr. Danesh showed more care and importance about his negative review than he ever showed to us as patients. He was callous, rude, and refused to listen to our concerns, only giving us handwaving diagnoses and rushing us out of his office. Terrible experience all around. The doctor told us that my partner's birth mark had a 30% chance of developing cancer, and that we had to operate. We got a second opinion, and were told it's a 0.1% chance of cancer. This scam artist terrified me and my partner into thinking she might develop cancer, just so he could squeeze some more money out of our insurance. My partner and I went in for acne and eczema. The office was a construction zone, with everybody running around like crazy and had an incredibly intense atmosphere. We had 2-4 nurses and the doctor in a tiny room during our examination. Nurses would walk in and out without knocking to interrupt our meeting repeatedly. Dr. Danesh made his diagnosis without any care, talked over us, and refused to listen to anything we had to say. The doctor was concerned with a birth mark that my partner had, and offered to do a biopsy. Usually a biopsy is a tiny piece of skin removed, but he shaved off a 1" section from her chin, leaving a scar. She was horrified. The worst part of all, is the next week we received a call saying this biopsy came back, and we would have to operate because it has a 30% chance of developing into cancer. This is not something to take lightly. We went and got a second opinion, and were told it's a 0.1% chance of cancer. The doctor was rude, uncaring, and worst of all, misled us about something as serious as cancer. Avoid at all costs. read more

Why did I not get this years ago? I've had two laser hair removal sessions so far and even after my first it's been a major improvement in my daily life. I went for full body laser and there is such an immediate improvement in my legs and my underarms - this is so worth treating yourself and taking care of it. I had laser hair removal done about 7-8 years ago and my hair growth had pretty much returned to its pre-laser state, so a girl friend of mine (also Asian) referred me to Dr. Gina Danesh. The reason this matters is that Asian skin tends to be very finicky when it comes to laser treatments - our skin is much more sensitive and prone to pigmentation issues. My dermatologist advised me to go to a laser hair removal practice that knows how to customize the settings for Asian skin - I thought Danesh Dermatology, being run by dermatologists, was the perfect place. Dr. Gina was extremely nice on the phone when we did the consultation, and she explained that the laser hair removal was now administered by a nurse at their Beverly Hills practice. I placed a lot of trust in the friend who recommended Dr. Gina, especially with regards to beauty, so I was really surprised when the actual hair removal treatment turned out to be a nightmare. For starters, they use a laser hair removal machine from Israel, which has an attachment that the provider would clamp down onto your skin to administer the laser. This is very different from all the other places I've been to which typically use laser technologies that do not require direct contact between the applicator and the skin. I found that this clamp mechanism is not only extremely uncomfortable but also inefficient. Imagine the applicator clamping down on sensitive areas such as the labia - it's so painful that I jumped each time the nurse applied the laser. Aside from the pain, the laser is not administered evenly due to the design of the applicator - areas with tight contours or do not have enough loose skin to be clamped down on tend to be left out of the laser (such as the shin and Brazilian areas). Despite the discomfort, I persevered with hopes that I would see good results. Finally, I stopped going after the Russian nurse at the Beverly Hills clinic caused laser burns on my mons pubis and outer labia. This was probably my third session, so the nurse decided to ramp up the settings for maximum results. I was uncomfortable with this sudden adjustment, but I trusted her expertise. Once I got home, my entire private area felt like it was on fire. I iced it and applied cortisone cream, but the pain didn't go away. Then, the pain turned into this unbearable itch, and scabs began forming all over. This persisted for almost a week. I called Dr. Gina, who was kind to offer medical advice on treating the burns and called in a prescription for a burn cream. I felt relieved that she addressed this mishap right away, but honestly I just didn't feel comfortable going back to them anymore. Several months after my last laser treatment at Danesh, I am now left with random patches of hair on my privates and legs. read more
