They offer, refreshments, aromatherapy, towels, warm, blankets, A2, lip balm,, etc. The dentist actually is the one to do your teeth cleaning not a dental hygienist. COVID19 and needing emergency dental care? Really? Now? Pain emanating from my jaw up through my temple, around my eye socket, down my jaw to my chin and throat. The pain even went my shoulder. Who to see? Who is seeing anyone? Well, Dr. Cohen answered my plea for help ASAP. BTW, I was NOT a current client of his. I was just a voice in his mail box, but was not treated that way. He was the ONLY dentist that called me back. He explained his pricing, provide me options, wasn't pushy and said he would take care of me even if it were after hours. I said I'd think about it. That I night when the pain was unbearable I texted him asking for an early AM appointment. I knew it was going to be a long night. He called his assistant and confirmed the appointment within 30 minutes. They were caring, compassionate, professional and COVID19 prepared. But honestly, it was the caring treatment that I received and the rigorous honesty that I appreciated the most. My care required an oral surgeon. Ugh! Fear not! Dr. Cohen placed a call to a local oral surgeon, got pricing for me and waited for me to make a decision. Upon saying "yes", he set up the appointment. All I had to do was show up. And show up I did. Dr. Baker, at Niguel Coast Oral & Facial Surgery, said I really lucked out by having Dr. Cohen be the one who cared for me. He said he is really a fantastic dentist. AGREED!!!!!!!! THANK YOU! Doctor Cohen is exactly what my Father needed in a dentist. My Father's last dentist mis-diagnosed his dental issues and kept trying the same wrong procedure to correct the problem. Doctor Cohen immediately got it right! On a Friday morning my Father was in pain and really needed to see a dentist before the weekend. Doctor Cohen accepted my Father as a new patient and saw him that afternoon. Dad didn't have to spend the weekend in pain and really liked Doctor Cohen and his staff. Most dentists make you pay for treatments your insurance doesn't cover and that you don't really need. Dr Cohen does NOT rip do this!! He's honest and caring and friendly. Finally a dentist I feel totally comfortable with. Dr Cohen saw my husband on a Sunday for a broken filling, despite the fact that my husband had never been to his practice before. He was also sensitive to the fact my husband is resistant to novacaine and made sure my husband felt no pain during his treatment. Doctor Cohen, is not my regular dentist, but I had called him at 3 am in the morning, as I was unable to contact my own dentist. I haven't been to the dentist, according to Dr. Portnoff's files, since 2003. Yikes. Dentist-o-phobia. Due to tooth pain, I went in, fearing the worst. Given the volume of tartar and plaque coating my teeth, Dr. Portnoff was exceedingly gentle! He offered me novocaine gel, and took his time cleaning my teeth off, despite my disgruntled moans. He explained things to me simply, gave me a couple samples of toothpaste for sensitive teeth, floss, and a Colgate brush with his name printed on it, and made me an appointment for next week to fill in a cavity. I can't recommend this fellow enough-- his head nurse/receptionist is his wife, and they are so sweet and kind and gentle! Not to mention-- best of all-- my gums haven't bled at all since I went to see him. I have a genuine phobia of visiting the dentist (something about the noise of metal against enamel), but visiting Dr. Portnoff makes me sweat a little less. read more

Hello, Needed emergency dental work done on a Sunday called Dr. Cohen and literally 2 hours later I was sitting in his dental chair. AMAZING SERVICE and his Staff was incredible. His assistant Feda was so nice and her bedside manner was that of a professional and made me feel very comfortable during an uncomfortable situation. Even the day after my appointment Dr, Cohen personally called me to see how I was doing, just do not find that type of service anymore.
