Absolutely 6 out of 5 stars for Lawn Care by Dan! After the snow and *ridiculous* cold in late February 2023, we came home from some errands around 5pm to find our rear sprinklers were running... Hmm...we'd shut them off for the winter in October... Found a cracked valve that must have been frozen and thawed in what little afternoon sun there was. Yelp to the rescue! I reached out to 3-4 businesses through Yelp. Lawn Care by Dan was on the phone with me in 10 minutes, was here on-site 15 minutes later. We had a workaround 5 minutes after that (crisis averted - YAY) and we have a proper repair scheduled for sometime later this week after the incoming weather passes. Dan and his team did an awesome job, despite our wonky, hilly, lumpy yard. Somehow they made it a smooth hill with the pavers, which are wonderful. They even put prote time wires under and around the fence to keep our dog from digging holes! Dan is super smart and thinking ahead! Dan was quick to respond to a request for quote. Came out and I explained what we needed. He confirmed the details and had his crew complete the job the next day. There was a moment I was concerned about weeds but the crew quickly remedied the issue. I parted ways with Dan and his company after years of service. While Dan is easy to reach, it is not easy to get consistent work from his team. He shared with me complaints from his team about doing the job that was contractually agreed upon. Which is not my problem, that between him and his team. I do believe that Dan wants to succeed in his line of work, but I think he lacks the general sense of good customer service and transparent communication. Dan pushed me and PUSHED me for a good review, years ago. I was happy to comply, but now it's time for a follow up. It's not worth the headache of dealing with this company. read more

The experience was amazing to work with Dan. The employees that Dan has are fast, responsive, knowledgeable, and have great customer service skills. Dan worked with my family and our budget to achieve the best possible result for our yard, both front and back. All of my neighbors have talked to me about the transition from bland yard, to neighborhood oasis. The patio area is huge, great big areas for my kids to play, and my dog has a great dog run. I was able to achieve my dream of not having to mow any blade of grass, ever again. Now I can plant flowers and trees that will grow in my garden that I want. I can grill on a patio, swim in a pool, and play on the trampoline with my kids. All of this work happened in less than 7 weeks. I would not hesitate to hire Dan's Landscaping again for any job, large or small. He and his team just completed a retaining wall for us topped off with a row of arborvitaes. Dan was great from the beginning. We had a steep slope on the back third of our yard that was both hard to maintain and just not very usable. We knew we wanted a wall, but did not really know what we wanted to do or the look we wanted. He had some great ideas on the type of stone that would look good and suggested going with arborvitaes for a green look. His communication was excellent, he was onsite checking his crew or checking in daily to ensure things were going well or to see if we had questions. His crew was also excellent. The hardscape project Dan and his team did for us was exactly what we wanted, and more (especially since we honestly didn't know what we were doing when we tried to DIY our backyard...). Roldan and his crew did a great job trimming, edging, and mowing our yard. They did a nice job shaping our shrubbery after they had overgrown, without cutting off too much making it look bare. We are continue to work with their crew to lay bark as well. The cleanup looks great. They took care of the property and checked in to clarify any questions about design. read more

Dan has proven to be the most unprofessional company and owner that I have worked with in a long time. We hired him to handle our yard services and he presented us with a contract that was very vague, however, he said the right things so we decided to proceed. Big Mistake. His crew came by sporadically. When they did they failed to meet the basics of service that would be handled in a lawn care agreement (mowing or picking up leaves). After receiving comments from other owners and a member of the Home Owners board for over a month we switched providers (the new guys are great). After calling to cancel my wife paid him for the days his crew actually serviced the area, he told us we needed to pay for the other days as well, and that we owed an additional $90 for services. We sent him photos of our lawn covered in leaves on the days his crew "supposedly" came to our house, yet he continued to pester us with calls and emails. Eventually, he paid a lawyer to write a nasty letter. We called the lawyer to clarify the actual circumstances, but the lawyer wasn't actually hired by Dan so there was nothing we could do. I called him personally re-explained why we would not pay. Then he sent us to collections for $90. We've since cleared our name with the collection agency, which wants nothing to do with him. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE DAN. If I could give him 0 stars I would. read more

Review for Paver project that was done 9/2021. If you are looking to get any landscaping work done, look no further! Dan and his team do amazing work and the price is the best by far. Dan's team installed over 2k sf of pavers for me. I'm a DIY guy and everything I can do myself, I usually do it myself. After buying 36 pallets of pavers, I realized I'm going to need help. So I call the first 3 listings on yelp from my pavers search. Dan was number 3 on the list. Long story short, Dan beat the other guys price by thousands! Started the project the next day and didn't stop working until the project was finished! We love our backyard and its because of Dan and his team! Thank you Dan! Paid this guy $4,000.00 to put down 3 inches of hemlock around my side yard. They came out and only put down 1/4 inch. The crap started to slide down the hill after one day, exposing the thin layer. I contacted him. He said he would come out and fix it for free. For free?? I paid for it, so don't throw that "free" crap in my face. They came back out and stopped the landslide but still failed to bulk up the remaining hemlock to 3 inches. You can go out to my yard and scrape it to expose the liner only 1/2 inch down. A complete scam and waste of my time. DO NOT hire this guy. He will do a shit job for you! Look at his feedback. He is on the take and NOT to be trusted. read more

I called Dan about my sprinkler system needing repair. He came out the next morning and helped me troubleshoot. He got my control panel working, and discovered a couple of cracked lines. He gave me a quote and also some pointers on how to fix it myself should I decide to go that route. I decided to tackle it myself with his advice and I was able to make the repairs. Didn't tend to weeds, moss, edge correctly, shrubs. I watched his one worker come, take 20 min, then saw a cardboard box that had fallen out of my recycling bin and blew it up onto my grass. Couldn't even be bothered to pick it up. Edging was terrible. I had to have them come back twice and then some strategic photos were taken of one area but upon further inspection the yard was still horrible. Waste of money. Look elsewhere read more

Dan is very very good and he is the best reasonably priced landscaper in the whole of vancouver. We are busy professionals and we have a toddler and we work full time so i was not a fan of grass. We will not spend hours in the yard mowing the lawn or watering the plants. We would rather relax on the weekends and enjoy our yard so i made that clear to dan. I said "dan, i want stone and stone and the least grass possible and i want to relax and enjoy my weekends but i have a budget because i have a daughter and my husband and I are still paying for our daughter's 529 college plan and daycare. " Well dan being the good family man and father that he was came up with a beautiful design that was low maintenance and high class looking but remained within our budget and he didnt use just the typical space occupying centerpiece stones or fountains or pergolas you would find in lowes, costco and home depot he med sure ours was carefully crafted and well thought off. Him and his team made everything from scratch and hand picked the best materials to come up with a beautiful backyard for us. And take note there was still a small part that was grass which we had to have for our little girl and this is called RTF. I am thankful we remained in budger as compared to some others who paid double or triple the price with the same style as ours (well ours is better). Do not look anywhere else. My wife and I hired Dan over two years ago to maintain landscaping at a house that we were about to list and to perform regular mowing and landscaping at our vacation rental house in Vancouver. In the past we had had issues with landscaping companies cutting corners when they realized that we didn't live in the area and couldn't monitor their work regularly. That has never been the case with Dan and his team, and we are incredibly grateful to have found him! With many companies, I would cancel my service when mowing season ends, but am happy to maintain an annual contract with Dan because he spends an equivalent amount of time working at the house regardless of the time of year giving special attention to pruning and other things to make the yard look great!
