We had a 4:30 reservation for dinner here tonight. They sat us near the waiters station. We asked to be sat somewhere else and they said there is going to be a party in the back at 7. Ok. Well it's byob so our waiter opened a far niente and rombauer Chardonnay and broke the cork! We were trying to be nice about it and didn't make a big deal, but if you're charging over a $200 check, make sure your staff can open a bottle of wine. The Sole special is $47 which they don't advertise unless you ask and it's pathetic (a raggedy piece of flounder they call sole wrapped around some cheap crab filling and 1 piece of shrimp). Then, the "chef" is walking around entertaining tables and opening bottles of wine in the back, where there is supposedly a party. Why isn't he in the kitchen cooking if he's the chef? It's not what it seems to be; was much better under the old ownership. Really pathetic. I will never come here again and will not recommend. Look at the fake tuna tower with red pepper trying to imitate tuna. read more

Some highs and lows on our last visit. Let's start with the greeting from the hostess - owner (I think). Frown on face, "you are early (for reservation) go stand with the others" (also early), I guess early is not good like being tossed in the penalty box. We are seated promptly at 8:00. Seating is out front of the restaurant in a tent and there where tables in the parking lot too. Not an issue, it's Covid, we are outside, I get it. Problem was, there was very little air in the tent and tables were at best 3'-4' feet apart. Thought 6' apart was the standard? The food: for the most part, outstanding as usual. No need to review it's all delicious and you can't go wrong. Well, unless you order the double boned pork chop. I ordered med, it was raw. I had the service help take care of it as our waitress could not be found after taking our order. When it came back from the kitchen, it was still raw. I find the waitress, show her, she offers to send it back again. I say no thanks, should not have to have a chop cooked more then 2 times ( we are talking more then 1/2 was uncooked). Service: support staff great, waitress was clearly having a bad day. She said she would let the owner see my raw chop, result, nothing. She came back to the table, threw the desert menus at us, mumbled something and I said check please. I was not looking for a free entree, a free desert, just some acknowledgment that at a high end restaurant , they cared. Clearly they did not. Had dinner here on a Thursday night outside. Not crowded at 6 but got busy as evening progressed. Food was excellent. Service was very slow and not too attentive but that happens during these times. Still our favorite restaurant on the Jersey Shore! Last Friday night we had the unfortunate opportunity to sit next to Dominck B. He was so rude and offensive to our server I could not believe my ears. He did drop the "F bomb" on our server. Bravo to Karen, the hostess for calling him out on this behavior. After he stormed out we enjoyed anothe amazing meal, with excellent service. We tipped over 30% to make up for her being treated so badly by that jerk. We had an early reservation for dinner on a Saturday, so the parking lot wasn't crowded. Although the place could use a facelift, it was clean and intimate. We were seated immediately and greeted by waitstaff shortly thereafter. A complimentary appetizer was served, bouche of tomato basil soup and a mini bruschetta... both were very flavorful. The ahu tuna appetizer was fresh and delicious. I ordered the special of the day for my entrée which was halibut over risotto with a light cream sauce. The sauce was amazing, and it didn't overshadow the halibut, which was extremely fresh. I cleaned my entire plate. The diver sea scallops were also amazing in a complimentary sauce. The Cream Brulee was okay but not the best I've had, however the Tiramisu was delicious. All in all, the food was fantastic, the service was welcoming. The new owner was gracious going to each table to welcome his guest. The price was right, and I do plan on making a return trip to try other dishes. This place is simply the best restaurant period, no matter where you go! Every single time we go we are more and more impressed. Tonight Valentines day was off the hook! The short rib (which came highly recommended was by far the best I've ever had. The lobster as usual was cooked to perfection. They has oysters with caviar and champagne that was to die for! I'm writing this in response to Andrea A. I was sitting next to them a table over with my mother and daughter. I don't even have a yelp account but when my daughter showed me this review I knew I needed to set the record straight. She literally almost ruined my meal with the constant complaining to her guests. All of which she stated was not true. The Resturant was full, not a table was open after 6pm and I got there about 530pm, same time as her. Her one guest was quite late, I'm sure they could have gotten a different table if she had actually asked but instead she sat there and complained to her guest. She spoke poorly to the server from the start, and this girl is one of their best servers in my opinion. She has been there for years but recently left to go into nursing I believe. I don't remember her name, I really wish I did being she waited on us that night as well but she has dark brown straight hair. She's also waited on me a few times prior and has always been professional, goes above and beyond for a table and is overly knowledgeable of this restaurant to where She could probably tell you how much salt the chef uses in a dish- basically she knows that menu in and out. Andrea who had soup to start didn't like the taste and told her friends "don't even try it it's too salty we're sending it back" to be honest I'm not sure if her other guests even got to try the soup. I'm not sure what she got after that because I just tried to zone her out. The server had made numerous trips back and forth and I remember her apologizing a few times to this woman and getting her what ever she needed- so the fact that she said she was spoken to like she was beneath the server was actually comical. She treated this server like a dog, waved her hands in the air, critiqued her every move when she was at the table and when she walked away, it was honestly seriously disgusting to sit there and listen but I was with my 80year old mother. Andrea was then telling other guests as they walked in to not get the soup!! It was almost like she was trying to push people away? As their check arrives I heard the woman say "she will be lucky if I leave her $10". Barf. At that point I was literally sick from hearing that and felt I needed to leave, we didn't even get dessert and it was my mothers birthday. But we will be back! One thing I can say about Daniels is they are always consistent and I've never had a bad meal there. I hope the owners never let this woman back in these doors again. If I can give them zero stars I would! The "kids" pasta was spicy, when we tried to explain to the server that the kids didn't like the pasta she got really defensive. The hostess was beyond rude and obnoxious. We asked why the pasta was not taken off the bill since the kids didn't touch it and her reply was "look at the menu before coming to a restaurant". Our kids do not eat "kids food". They like oysters, steak, etc. the rest of the food was mediocre at best. JUST REALLY NASTY AND RUDE. Service and ambiance were excellent. Very capable waitress and helpful greeter. Entrees too were excellent, I had the halibut and risotto, both done perfectly. Portion size for the halibut was large by most standards. Only minor complaint was the pear (not pera) salad with portion of pear being exceptionally small and the dress unremarkable. If i could select zero stars i would. The woman at the hostess stand was old and quite frankly dirty and miserable. The floor was covered in leaves and the building looked abandoned. We were traveling two hours away for the weekend and we were 24 minutes late for our reservation and the old decrepit wrinkly woman wouldn't seat us. No one was in the restaurant so this seemed strange to us. I am sure god was protecting us as we probably would have had food more miserable than this abandoned building. The food was very very good. Bring your own wine. As an appetizer, I had PEI mussels that were amazing. My wife had the jumbo shrimp cocktail that was outstanding. I ordered as an Entree grilled scallops; they were delicious but they were so good that I had hoped they would have given me more than just four. The waitress asked my wife if she would like to try the "special" which was a "cowboy ribeye steak." Unfortunately, the waitress never mentioned the cost of the "special" and we never asked. The ribeye turned out to be $79 dollars (yep, I'm not kidding). It was nothing special and certainly not worth that amount of money, even In times of inflation. When we got the bill, we were shocked that a ribeye would cost that much. The young waitress apologized that she had not warned us in advance. This is why I took one star off of the rating. Otherwise, the food was excellent. We had as dessert berries in Cognac sauce. Outstanding. My only caveat is that you ask how much the "specials" cost in order to avoid ribeye sticker shock. read more

Had a fabulous dinner here the other night with my husband. I have to admit I was suprised to get this level of service and food at the Jersey Shore! I wanted to give 4 1/2 stars - cause theres always room for improvement but this place is closer to 5 than 4! We decided to go on a whim and called for a last minute reservation as we knew the place was small. Bingo - score! We get there and are greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. The service was above and beyond what I ever expected - it was very attentive and knowledgeable. They described each special in great detail - you could tell that he had sampled each one. On his recommendation we went with the burrata (cause who can say no to cheese?) and the duck meatballs. The Burrata was excellent but the meatballs - to.die.for! Unbelievably excellent - duck mixed with a bit of fois gras in a duck broth. absolutely amazing. As Daniel's is a BYOB - we had grabbed a French red on the way out the door - so that kind of ruled out seafood as an entree... So we both went for the pork - my husband had the pork osso bucco special and I had the double cut chop. I think the osso bucco was just a tad better as it had been braising for 6 hours - but that was the best damn chop I've ever had!!! We sampled the flourless chocolate cake for dessert - a perfect pair for the rest of the wine. Definitely will be back - this time with red and white so we dont cheat ourselves out of the wonderful seafood plates we saw go out of the kitchen! read more

What an amazing dinner I had here last night! I'll admit I was skeptical what with all the negative reviews about service, etc. However, there wasn't one element of our meal last night that was less than top notch. I will review only my meal as I don't like reviewing for others at the table. Started with diver sea scallops which were cooked perfectly and accompanied by a delicious sauce. Then I split a special app of Duck Meatballs which were absolutely amazing! Add on a plate of escargot and I would've been completely satisfied with just the appetizers. I ordered a ribeye mid-rare which came out correctly cooked and accompanied by fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe. Terrific. Dessert was creme brulee which was equally delicious. All tolled, our dinner was about 3 hours which is completely fine with me. If I wanted fast food or "food fast", I'd go to an appropriate venue. We weren't rushed and thus were able to savor every flavor that was put before us. Bravo and we will return! read more

Fantastic BYO with a friendly staff and a MEAN bananas foster dessert. Mmmmm. While gimmicky (they set it on fire in front of you), it was more delicious than any bananas foster I remember. OK, I'm working backwards here... Excellent entrees, nice choices and well-prepped. I had a steak, while my GF had one of the tastiest racks of lamb I can remember. The sauce was super rich and dee-lish. The oysters appetizer was also a standout. We'll definitely be coming again. It's a small, unassuming place from the outside. Once inside, it's quite nice. If you're after fine dining in southern-Monmouth / northern-Ocean county, Daniel's has no rival. Any item on the menu will be the best interpretation of that dish you can find in the area. More importantly, if you are even considering dessert, do not second-guess or consider half-measures. Go all out and get the Bananas Foster. Beyond an entertaining show (the server prepares it tableside) you get to enjoy one of the finest desserts in New Jersey. QUICK TIPS: (1) make a reservation at least a week in advance, because this place is always full, (2) they do not have a liquor license, so BYO wine or alcohol, and (3) try not to sit by the front door, because it can get a little drafty, especially in the winter. read more

However, after hearing a lot of word of mouth buzz I decided I'd have to see for myself. Went around 8 on a Tuesday. We were lucky to be seated, the place was full except for a small table right outside the kitchen door. Not sure if it was the second bottle of wine, the anticipation of finally eating here, or the food was just that outstanding. Everything we ate was fantastic. The escargot was so good we considered ordering more for dessert. I had a duck tenderloin that was both crispy and moist. If I could afford to I'd make this place a once a week stop. My husband found this restaurant and it made our entire week at Point Pleasant so memorable. It is now my favorite restaurant in the world. We have been to so many restaurants in NYC and elsewhere yet this one Daniel's Bistro and a small restaurant named L'Etoile in Charlottesville VA really stand out in my mind as top two. What makes it stand out is the food, it's not just food it's an experience, the blend of flavors so surprising yet that work so well together. And it's not just a few dishes but each and every dish, we ordered three of their special apps, imported mozarella with a soft ricotta like center with heirloom tomatoes and 20 year balsamic... the figs with prosciutto... the stone claws... then the special fish of the day black bass with amazing risotto...as mu husband would say even the cappuccino was the best he has had. He compares it to other restaurants all the time. Such a memorable experience. And.. If you love asparagus the side dish Asparagus Ammaretto cream, cracked pistachio is a must try simply because the blend of flavors are so unexpected but complementary. Top that off with excellent service and bring your own favorite bottle of wine and it's a perfect evening! read more

We love Daniel's it is our go to favorite! I have never had a bad meal here and our servers are always excellent. Deanna and Rachel are top notch! All of our special occasions are held here. Even my 13 year old son chooses them for his birthday dinners! My favorites are the Diver Sea Scallops and the wild mushroom appetizer but I have never been disappointed with anything they have served me. Our waitress was very nice and she had a sense of humor which was great. The food was amazing! Our table for appetizers ordered lump crabcake, braised escargot, malpeque oysters, & lobster special. Everything was perfect couldn't stop eating! Then for our meals our friends ordered osso buco & Ribeye which they said was great. My friend couldn't stop talking about how awesome her osso buco tasted. I had black angus filet mignon and asked for foie gras on top amazing!!
